Tito OrtizTito Ortiz will go after his first win since October 2006 when he meets Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

The two fighters confirmed the bout on their Twitter accounts, including Ortiz saying it was a fight UFC president Dana White wanted. The matchup was first reported Monday by MMA Weekly.

Ortiz, a former UFC light heavyweight champ, was scheduled to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the main event of the UFC’s Fight Night 24 card on Spike TV in Seattle this Saturday. But he was forced out of the bout several weeks ago when he suffered a concussion and cut while training that required more than 20 stitches to his head. Phil Davis stepped up and will face Nogueira on Saturday.

Chris WeidmanLOUISVILLE, Ky. – Despite all the superlatives that have already been hurled his way in just four pro MMA fights, despite a near-constant stream of kudos that comes from training side by side with a former champion, despite all the hype and the buzz, Chris Weidman was still surprised when the UFC called for his services.

Weidman, a Division I All-American wrestler at Hofstra who trains with former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and Ray Longo on Long Island, was confident he’d get to The Show some day, but was realistic about it.

“I was definitely a little surprised (when the UFC called),” Weidman told MMA Fighting on Tuesday, two days before his main-card fight against Alessio Sakara at UFC on Versus 3 on Thursday. “I felt like I was always ready, but I just know how it works with MMA. You usually need a couple more fights than I have, especially to get to a main card. But I’m in it, and I’m trying to make the best of the opportunity.”

The Indiana Gaming Commission has handed out medical suspensions to 10 fighters from Saturday’s UFC 119 card at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Main event fighter Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic received a 180-day suspension, plus an indefinite suspension until he passes a head CT-scan. Filipovic was knocked out by Frank Mir with a knee to the chin with just about a minute left in their fight.

Also receiving a 180-day suspension with an additional indefinite suspension until clearing a head CT-scan was former welterweight champion Matt Serra. Serra dropped a unanimous decision to hometown favorite Chris Lytle in a rematch from their fight on the Season 4 finale of “The Ultimate Fighter” four years ago.
