Superstar UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is off chasing a rivalry with lightweight Nate Diaz at welterweight of all places, so the division’s next best contenders in longtime former champion Jose Aldo and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar fought for the interim title and the next perceived shot at “The Notorious” on the main card of last night’s (Sat., July 9, 2016) UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bout turned out a bit like their first meeting, with Edgar pushing the pace and keeping the activity level high while Aldo patiently picked his power shots. Those bigger punches, kicks, and knees began to find a home on “The Answer’s” bloodied right eye, and none of his takedowns were successful throughout the full five-round bout.
