Anderson Silva’s son Gabriel got a brutal beatdown by Anthony Taylor at Misfits Boxing 17 in a shocking turn of events. After securing the big win, Taylor wasted no time before making some big callouts.

The fight between Gabriel Silva and Anthony Taylor came to fruition because YouTube personality turned boxer KSI withdrew from a two-vs.-one boxing match that was set to feature Taylor. So, the son of MMA legend Anderson Silva was added to the mix, and suddenly, the Misfits Boxing 17 card was saved.

The fight between Taylor and Silva was an interesting one. On the one hand, you had Taylor, who floundered about the MMA scene, from fighting for brands like Bellator to becoming a largely exhibitionist boxer under organizations like Misfits Boxing. On the other hand, there is Gabriel Silva. Largely untested but still the son of one of the greatest champions and mixed martial artists ever to grace this planet.

Sadly, the challenge proved too great for Anderson Silva’s boy, and Taylor walked away as the victor after only three rounds. It was an impressive showing from the MMA journeyman, and it will likely help pave the way for fights in the future against bigger and better names.

The damage was largely done in the third round, as Taylor dropped Silva three times to end the battle. On the second to last knockdown, a picturesque right hand found a home and sent Gabriel Silva into a different realm momentarily.

Although Silva managed to answer the count, it wasn’t meant to be. He would go on to get dropped again, and the fight was officially over. Taylor was undoubtedly thrilled to have scored such a big victory for his resume, and he made the most of his mic time to make some potentially unreasonable but nonetheless exciting callouts.

Darren Till, I know you watching!” Exclaimed Anthony Taylor after the bout. “Hey, If you see this message, bring it! Floyd Mayweather, I’ll knock you little skinny a** out too. Bring it, ’cause best believe I ain’t going nowhere!”

What do you think the odds are that Anthony Taylor could actually land himself a fight with Darren Till, or Floyd Mayweather?

The Silva family didn’t go home empty-handed though, as Gabriel’s brother Kalyl earned a unanimous decision win over Melo Pamuk on the same card. Kalyl returned to the ring since his viral eight-second knockout win in his kickboxing debut in August.

Familari had a lot to say after defeating the son of an MMA legend in Silva.

“I couldn’t let him recover,” Familari said after the bout. “I mean, the guy’s good. He could easily beat me, but God was with us on this victory, He blessed us. Much respect to my opponent, his camp, and everybody else, but we did it. We pulled through.”

With the loss, Gabriel falls to 5-1 in his amateur kickboxing career and will look to get back on track in his next appearance. At 24 years old, he has plenty of time to grow in the fight game.

In the finishing sequence of the bout posted on social media, Familari begins swinging wildly with a series of winging hooks as Silva remains on the ring ropes, before clipping the latter with a right hook — snapping his head back and instantly sending him to the canvas for the first round knockout victory in the amateur kickboxing bout with just 18-seconds remaining in the first frame.

I knew that I had to stay on him, I couldn’t let him recover,” Vincent Familari said of opponent, Gabriel Silva post-fight. “I mean, the guy’s [Gabriel Silva] good. He could easily beat me, but God was with us on this victory. He blessed us. Much respect to my opponent, his camp, and everybody else, but we did it. We pulled through.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

The victory for Familari improved his amateur record to 10-1 — while Silva suffered his first amateur loss as his record slipped to 5-1 from six outings.

As for Kalyl and Gabriel Silva’s father, former UFC middleweight destroyer, Anderson Silva, the Brazilian icon made a successful return to the professional boxing ring this year following his departure from the UFC last year — taking home a June split decision victory over former boxing world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Fighting as part of a Triller Fight Club promoted event in September, Silva stopped former UFC light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz with a one-sided first round knockout in an originally slated professional boxing match which was then subsequently altered to an exhibition matchup. Silva has since been linked with a professional boxing match against YouTube content creator, Logan Paul — which has yet to materialize at the time of publication.
