Boxer George Kambosos Jr. has had a pair of lawsuits filed against him by his former manager and trainer for alleged breach of contract. The former lightweight title holder is coming off a lopsided decision loss in his rematch with the undefeated Devin Haney on October 16 in Kambosos’ native Australia. According to The Ring,…

Undefeated WBC title holder Devin Haney has successfully defended his title against George Kambosos, claiming the Australian’s WBA (Super), IBF and WBO titles in the process.
Haney overcame Kambosos via a unanimous points victory, despite facing the now-former champ in his own backyard at Melbourne. This victory has resulted in Devin Haney becoming the first undisputed lightweight boxing champion in 32 years, the first since Pernell Whitaker in 1990. He is also the first man to become the undisputed champion in the four-belt era, which began in 2004.
In the aftermath of the fight, Haney stated:
“This is a dream come true. I was comfortable. I was sticking to the game plan, the game plan was to go in and hit and not get hit and I did that for the majority of the fight.’
“I took the last round off because I knew I was comfortably ahead, but I fought a good, smart fight.” (H/T Sky Sports).
All three judges scored the bout in Haney’s favor, 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110.
George Kambosos calls for an immediate rematch with Devin Haney
Despite the fact that Devin Haney was the clear victor, George Kambosos is confident he can be victorious if they run it back. The Australian will reportedly activate his rematch clause, and will face Haney once again in Australia.
“I want to take the best test, the hardest test and I’m going to give him full respect for his victory and let him have his time,” said Kambosos Jr, who lost for the first time in 21 fights.
“We’ll do it again. I have to implement a few things but I thought the fight was very close.”

Kambosos Jr. recently stunned the boxing world by beating Teofimo Lopez via split decision to capture three lightweight titles. The undefeated lightweight has now joined Alexander Volkanovski as a fellow champion from Australia’s New South Wales. Now the pair from down under both look at helping each other become better fighters in their respective sports.
Kambosos Jr spoke on the MMA Hour about potentially getting in the gym with Volkanovski.
“I’m a very good fan of the UFC. I love the sport; I love combat sport. And me and Alex have a good relationship as well.”
“He’s been supporting me, I’ve been supporting him, and I said I’m going to come back with all these belts — obviously he’s the UFC featherweight king and I’m the lightweight king, and we’re going to help each other. And how good would that be?
“For me to sharpen up his striking; for him to sharpen up my grappling, my inside game, when I do get in the clinches, to be able to use my weight and get a little bit sharper on that side of things too.
“So, it’s a good thing because we are both proud and we both got to the top of our sport, and we’re both Greek as well. I know we’re proud Aussies, but have Greek heritage, so a lot of familiar similarities.”
George Kambosos Jr Refuses To Rule Out MMA Move
There are many similarities between the two, both men showed immense heart and determination in their previous bouts, Alexander Volkanovski by defending the relentless Brian Ortega’s submission attempts at UFC 266 and Kambosos Jr. to get knocked down in the closing rounds of his fight and still be able to get back up and go onto win.
Therefore, it is not surprising these two athletes at the top of their sports would be wanting to trade a few tips, with Kambosos Jr looking to get things going as soon as possible.
“We’re going to organize that when I get back and we’re going to do a few things together, and like I said, sharpen up. His hands are super sharp already, but a little bit more always helps. And he’s going to sharpen up my inside game and my clinch game. And who knows, you might see me make my UFC debut soon. He might be boxing real soon. You never know.”
When asked Kambosos Jr seemed genuine about a potential move into the octagon in his future.

George Kambosos Jr vs. Teofimo Lopez Fight Highlights
Lopez took to social media after suffering his first professional boxing loss and appeared in good spirits despite everything.
“Thank you all for the love and support tonight,” Lopez wrote on Twitter. “I’m grateful for you all and I know God has his plans set for me. They can punch me high, kick me low. It’s going to take more than that to break my soul! God bless everyone and Happy Holidays. See you all back in the ring in 2022.”

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) finds Triller unable to fulfill its financial obligations following a purse bid for the boxing match between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr.
Boxing journalist, Dan Rafael was first to announce that Triller lost about $1.2 million in a deposit. With Triller defaulting, the deposit will now be split between Lopez who will receive 75%, and Kambosos who will receive 25%. Following the report, Rafael insists that the bout will now go to Eddie Hearn next for a bid. If Hearn chooses not to bid, then the fight’s fate will fall into the hands of Bob Arum and his Top Rank boxing company.
Initially, it looked like Triller was headed for big things as the company was quick to host a crossover boxing event between MMA’s Ben Askren and the YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul. Despite Triller’s momentum, one of their most recent shows between former UFC champion Vitor Belfort and boxing legend Evander Holyfield underperformed according to one of our reports from last month.
“BREAKING: IBF has found Triller in default of #LopezKambosos purse bid. Triller loses deposit of about $1.2M, which will be split between Lopez (75%) & Kambosos (25%). Now up to @EddieHearn if he wants to put on the fight as the under bidder. If not, it falls to @trboxing.” Dan Rafael posted.
Although some are surprised that Triller can afford to throw money frivolously into the wind, others question how long it can sustain itself as a viable business in 2021. While it appears there are no new bids for the Lopez/Kambosos purses, if that changes, you can count on MMA News.com to keep you in the fold.
Do you think Triller will keep putting on big fights despite losing money?
