Joanna Jedrzejczyk hasn’t competed inside the octagon for over two years since her all-out war with Weili Zhang at UFC 248. Although her passion for fighting will never die it appears more lucrative options have become available to the former champion away from the sport.

Inside of the octagon, Jedrzejczyk was extremely efficient in her work and now it seems she is doing the same outside of the cage.

Jedrzejczyk along with building her own business empire in Poland and training daily has also been taking on brand endorsement deals as well as making television appearances developing her name outside of combat sports.

Speaking on The Fighter Vs. The Writer the former strawweight champion explains how she has adapted to these new adventures and how she finally began to understand her worth away from fighting.

“I’m always very busy,” Jedrzejczyk said. “Like I said before, it was time for myself. Time for me as a human being, time as a businesswoman and an athlete. Like I said, I was training really hard. I was super busy, crazy busy. Traveling every single day, working every single day, but training is always my priority.

“I wanted to make sure that everything is going the right direction. Because when my fighting career blew up, I was focusing only on my fighting career, and it was good, but I like to do so many things. I’m personal with so many hobbies, passions, businesses. I wanted to make sure everything was going in the right direction. Now I have a clear head, a strong heart, and I can be focusing only on training.”

Joanna Jedrzejczyk Speaks On Wanting To Return

Although avenues are expanding for Jedrzejczyk she still feels sadness not competing inside the octagon and remains desperate to get back inside to prove herself again, on the condition she is well paid.

“I feel like I’m making more money outside the octagon,” Jedrzejczyk said. “It’s kind of set for me. Because my big hobby, big passion, became my job with fighting. It’s all happening, we’re talking because of my legacy and how dedicated I was, and I am, because of MMA and my job.

“It’s kind of sad but I get as much as I can from here and now because I’ve been doing this for 18 years, you all know this, but my life got changed when I got into the UFC and became the champion and got more opportunity. I started making money, and I’m trying to get as much as I can, but I’m doing things I really love to do. Yeah, I accomplished a lot in this sport and it’s not about the money, but I feel like I’m in the sport where I can ask for more money because I deserve this. I deserve this and I know my worth.”

Despite advice from those around her to step away from the sport, Jedrzejczyk remains unfazed in her focus and her love for the sport certainly has not changed.

“It’s hard because so many people are like, ‘Maybe you should stop fighting, you shouldn’t even be doing this,’” Jedrzejczyk said. “You do this, you do that, you have this business, the other business,’ but you can’t stop the love. Love is real and it’s the only real thing in this world.

“I love this sport. I feel like I want to do it. I feel like I can do it. So that’s the thing. It’s hard because every day I get messages, ‘Are you retired?’ or, ‘She is retired,’ or other things. It’s hard.” (Transcribed by MMAFighting)

Alex Pereira: ‘Scared’ Israel Adesanya Doesn’t Want To Fight

Alex Pereira Israel Adesanya

Former Glory champion Alex Pereira believes he has what it takes to beat current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in MMA.

Pereira got the better of Adesanya on two separate occasions in kickboxing, the first coming via a decision win over ‘The Last Stylebender’ in 2016 before facing off against him just a year later however this time despatching him with a vicious knockout.

The Brazilian made a successful debut on the promotion at UFC 268. After being controlled in the first round on the grappling exchanges by Andreas Michailidis, Pereira was able to execute and land a perfect flying knee in the second to put his opponent out.

Adesanya dismissed the idea of facing Pereira a few months back while speaking to Stake, undoubtedly because he feels he should work his way through the division first. However, after hearing these comments only recently Pereira now believes Adesanya fears him.

“Man, have you seen me laughing before? It’s hard, right?” Pereira said. “How does this guy say he’s anxious to fight me? If I were in his shoes and I was crazy to fight someone, anxious, like he’s saying he is … as soon as I heard ‘Alex Pereira has signed with the UFC,’ [I would’ve said] f***, [book it] right away. The respect he has [within the company], I’d say, ‘Ask him if he wants to fight me now. Forget about Robert Whittaker, cancel this fight, reschedule it. I make the calls. If Alex wants it, I want it.

“F***, man, that’s what you do is you’re anxious to fight [someone]. ‘Oh, I can’t wait to fight Alex, but I’ll fight him [after] 15 fights.’ F***, How is he anxious to do it? What does he want? Look, I’ll tell you this — it’s harder for me to get to him than beating him. He knows that. He knows how I beat him. He fought me twice. He won’t admit how difficult I am. He’s not anxious to fight me. He wants me to slip tomorrow so he can say, ‘Is this the guy you want me to fight? Are you crazy? Go back to the end of the line.’ He’ll run from me.

“Someone crazy for a fight will say, ‘I want this guy, I want to prove I’m better than him,’” Pereira continued. “He’s fooling his fan base. People should pressure him. The least he could do is say, ‘F*ck, I’ll show my fans that I’m the best and that’s why they follow me,’ but that’s not what he’s doing. He’s scared s***. Like Glover [Teixeira] says, he’s scared s***.”

Alex Pereira Confident He Beats Israel Adesanya In MMA

Pereira didn’t mince his words when it came to speaking on the division’s champion but having bested him twice already in kickboxing Pereira enters the world of MMA with extreme confidence and genuine belief, he will beat Adesanya when the time comes.

“Adesanya thought he would never see me again and was comfortable,” Pereira said. “I was watching his fight [with Whittaker] and I was [predicting what he would do] based on his moves, ‘He’ll kick now, he’ll do this’. I see it, you know. I know how to beat him.” (Transcribed by MMAFighting)

Islam Makhachev

Islam Makhachev has given his version of the story after it was recently reported by Dana White that Makhachev had turned down the opportunity to face Rafael Dos Anjos on short notice at UFC 272.

In his version of events, Makhachev revealed that he did offer himself up as a replacement for Rafael Fiziev, however following discussions with the UFC he backed out of the idea due to the company denying a “very small” request that he had.

Makhachev spoke to Brett Okamoto to share light upon the situation. It had been rumoured Makhachev wanted $1 million to step in on short notice against Dos Anjos but he has openly denied this claim.

“You know, Brett? Dana said I turned down this fight but Monday morning when I woke up I just saw some news that [Rafael] Fiziev has COVID, the fight [is at a] standstill. I’ve been in California on vacation and I woke up and called my manager. [I said], ‘Hey Ali, I saw some news, please call the UFC and say I’m ready to take this fight.’ And I asked about some condition, very small condition. Nothing big, not [impossible] to do… But UFC [did] not do it that’s why it did not happen.”

It appears that both the UFC and Makhachev couldn’t agree on this issue meaning the fight fell through and Renato Moicano bravely stepped in on short notice. Makhachev revealed he called for the RDA fight and contacted the UFC himself, not the other way around.

“I just wanna help UFC for the fans, for everybody because this is like pay-per-view show. It’s big show. I just asked for very small condition, but UFC say no and that’s it.”

UFC To Reschedule Islam Makhachev Vs. Beneil Dariush

Despite this, it seems the UFC is now looking to rebook the Islam Makhachev Vs. Beneil Dariush fight with the winner being next in line for the title shot following Dariush having to pull out from their initial matchup due to sustaining an injury. This may suit Makhachev better given he feels Dos Anjos is not on the same level as him and beating him would have changed nothing.

“You know, I sat on the first row and watched this fight, dos Anjos not my level fighter. If I beat him people still talking like, ‘This is old man. He’s not from top 5.’” (transcribed by Sportskeeda.com)

Joe Rogan believes Conor McGregor will be fighting for the lightweight title when he returns from injury.

McGregor has been adamant over the last few weeks that he will be fighting whoever has ownership of the lightweight title come the Irishmen’s return. Current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has even expressed his own interest in a potential matchup with McGregor. Now Joe Rogan believes this could happen after speaking on his podcast with Michael Bisping.

“With Dana (saying) that Makhachev now has to fight Beneil Dariush before he can fight for the title, I think that sets up a Conor fight (for the title),” “I think that’s probably why he really did it… It’s kind of crazy.”

There is no doubt Conor McGregor is the biggest name in combat sports and undoubtedly bring a great deal of attention to the UFC so it would come as a surprise if McGregor did get his wish. UFC president Dana White played down the idea of McGregor getting the next shot as he is still side-lined with his injury but reminded followers of the sport that if it bothers you that much what McGregor is doing upon his return “you’re a f*cking idiot too”.

Dana White Speaks on Conor McGregor

“The problem is, every time I do a f*cking interview, all anybody wants to ask is, ‘You think Conor McGregor will get a f*cking title shot?’ That’s all they f*cking ask,” “So, I’m gonna say, ‘Well Conor McGregor isn’t anywhere near coming back yet, so I don’t know, let’s see what happens…’ It’s a dumb f*cking question for the media to ask, but the media asks dumb f*cking sh*t all day, every day. That’s what happens. And anybody who’s p*ssed off because Conor might f*cking get (a title shot), you’re a f*cking idiot too. If that p*sses you off, Jesus Christ. Calm down, buddy.”

Joe Rogan fancies McGregor’s chances if he were to face up against Charles Oliveira due to his punching power.

“Ireland would have a parade that might last a month-long,” Rogan said. “Listen, if Conor connects on anyone’s mug, you never know, what Firas Zahabi calls it, the touch of death.” (Transcribed by bjpenn.com)

Former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor has claimed that he wishes to “explore” the possibility of buying Premier League side, Chelsea, amid speculation that the London club is set to be put up for sale by controversial owner, Roman Abramovich, with a price set reportedly set in the region of £3 billion.

Speculation began to mount earlier this week and over the course of last weekend that the club’s owner, Abramovich, a reported friend and enabler of Russian president, Vladimir Putin, would be putting the club up for sale amid fears that he may face sanctioning by the U.K. government as Russia continues its invasion and escalation of attacks in neighbouring, Ukraine.

Abramovich, a Russian oligarch and the former Governor of Chukotka, is reportedly set to put the London-based club on the market, with Swiss billionaire, Hansjorg Wyss claiming recently the 55-year-old Saratov native is hoping for a quick solution to a sale, with Wyss interested among a consortium of purchasing the Stamford Bridge club.

However, former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor posted on Twitter this Wednesday evening, claiming that he was set to “explore” the possibility of purchasing Chelsea football club, as well as sharing images of a WhatsApp conversation.

“I wish to explore this. @ChelseaFC,” Conor McGregor tweeted

In the WhatsApp exchange, an unknown person appears to send McGregor a message as follows: “@The Mac Just a heads up we have approved this as previously discussed.” In response, Conor McGregor replies, “Chelsea for sale (for) £3bn”, as well as replying, “Let’s buy it”.

Last year, the 33-year-old Crumlin native has also claimed that he was interested in possibly purchasing Manchester United football club, amid the cancellation of the proposed, European Super League, as well rising tensions within the club’s fanbase regarding the club’s owners, the Glazer family.

Reports have suggested Chelsea owe Roman Abramovich in excess of £1.5bn

Abramovich, who purchased Chelsea football club back in June 2003, recently transferred the club’s stewardship and care of the club to a trustee group consisting of the club’s charitable foundation, as parliament members within government call for him to be issued sanctioning amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

UFC president Dana White has revealed he is unsure what the future holds for Russian athletes competing in the UFC amidst their countries conflict with Ukraine.

Many sporting organisations and countries have cancelled the visas of Russian athletes in response to what has been going on. Promotions such as KSW have already announced the cancellation of matchups scheduled within Russian fighters involved, such as Shamil Musaev for KSW 68.

UFC London may be scheduled to lose one-half of its main event due to Russian fighter Alexander Volkov potentially being unable to travel.

White asked for Volkov to travel over earlier in hopes to avoid any issues like this however it appears they have been unable to avoid such problems.

“We’re trying to get him into England sooner so he can fight,” White said.

“When things like this start blowing up, we start looking at potential problems and what possibilities are, and we try to get around them. We try to figure out ‘if that’s going to happen, let’s get these guys into England earlier.’ I know that we’ve been trying to get Volkov to leave Russa, and he hasn’t wanted to.”

Dana White Concerned For The Future

If this issue continues to develop any further the UFC will begin to have a serious problem on its hands. A large majority of fighters are based in Russia, including interim bantamweight champion Petr Yan who is scheduled to have his title unification bout take place next month at UFC 273.

As it currently stands, Dana White is unsure what the future will hold for everyone.

“Like I tell you guys all the time, just when you think the world’s about to get normal again, it gets even nuttier,” Dana White added.

“So, we’ll see how it works out. You keep asking me questions like, ‘Will Conor McGregor fight for the title when he comes back in the fall?’ I don’t know what’s going on in the fall. When the fall comes, we’ll see what’s happening.

“‘If Petr Yan cannot get into the country?’ I have no idea what’s going to happen with Russia and all these other things. I don’t know.” (Transcribed by middleeasy.com)

Only time will tell much of an impact this will have on the availability of Russian fighters.
