According to a report by the Los Angeles Daily News, unbeaten featherweight Brian Ortega will meet Hacran Dias at UFC Fight Night 96.

Ortega (11-0) has yet to taste defeat in his MMA career and is a perfect 3-0 since signing with the UFC. Back in June at UFC 199, he knocked out Clay Guida to add to wins over Diego Brandao and Thiago Tavares.

Dias (23-4-1) was bested in April by Cub Swanson, snapping his two-fight win streak. The Brazilian is 3-3 over his UFC run, with all six bouts going the distance.

UFC Fight Night 96 takes place October 1 and includes Will Brooks-Alex Oliveira and Josh Burkman-Bobby Green.

Two featherweights had a chance to make a statement at UFC on FOX 19. A bout between Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias (23-4-1) and Cub Swanson (22-7) served as the event’s main card opener. Dias threw out a kick in the early going. Swanson connected with a leg kick. “Barnabe” lunged forward with a right hand.

Two featherweights had a chance to make a statement at UFC on FOX 19. A bout between Nova Uniao’s Hacran Dias (23-4-1) and Cub Swanson (22-7) served as the event’s main card opener.

Dias threw out a kick in the early going. Swanson connected with a leg kick. “Barnabe” lunged forward with a right hand. Swanson blocked a high switch kick. Dias landed a push kick and Swanson answered with a kick to the body. Swanson swung wildly and found air. A straight jab to the body was thrown by the Jackson-Winklejohn camp member. Dias found a home for the leg kick. The round ended with Swanson missing a spinning wheel kick.

Dias landed a leg kick at the beginning of the second frame. Swanson dropped “Barnabe” with a left hook. He followed up with some ground and pound. Dias found his way back up. A high kick was blocked by Dias. Swanson ducked a hook and threw a punch in return. He landed another left hook. Swanson found the target with a leg kick and a straight punch to the body. A right hand connected for the Brazilian. Dias found himself on his back again, but the fight resumed standing quickly. The two clinched as the round came to a close.

The final frame began and Swanson missed a hook and was jabbed. Swanson was able to sneak in a jab of his own. Dias landed a knee on a clinch break. Another leg kick landed for Swanson. A huge head kick sent Dias crashing down and Swanson swarmed his opponent. “Barnabe” held onto the arm of Swanson, looking for a kimura. Swanson continued to deliver some punishing ground and pound before the final horn sounded.

The judges all agreed that Swanson was the winner.

Final Result: Cub Swanson def. Hacran Dias via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

UFC On FOX 19 Lineup Receives New Main Card Opener

While officials continue to work to find a replacement that will face Khabib Nurmagomedov next week, they have went ahead and set a new UFC on FOX 19 main card opening bout.

While officials continue to work to find a replacement that will face Khabib Nurmagomedov next week, they have went ahead and set a new UFC on FOX 19 main card opening bout.

Featherweights Cub Swanson and Hacran Dias will begin the FOX main card from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The change also moved Drew Dober-Islam Makhachev to the early FOX prelims from UFC Fight Pass.

Nurmagomedov was set to headline the event vs. Tony Ferguson, but an injury knocked Ferguson from the bout. Rumors of Donald Cerrone stepping in have surfaced, but nothing has been announced yet.

The main card will also include Rashad Evans-Glover Teixeira, Dan Henderson-Lyoto Machida and Rose Namajunas-Tecia Torres.
