Henry Cejudo has announced he’s set to become a father for the first time.

The former dual-weight UFC champion broke the news that he and his girlfriend, Ana Karolina, are expecting during a recent appearance on Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast.

‘Triple C’ says he has already bent the knee and proposed to his partner who is due to give birth in November.

Cejudo also revealed they are expecting a girl who will be named ‘America’.

“I feel like I’ve done it right,” Cejudo said. “Thirty-four, I’ve made some money. Not the money that I necessarily want, but I have enough money to be like, alright, start to invest and start that next chapter.”  (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Cejudo retired from the sport last year after successfully defending his bantamweight title against 135lb legend Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.

The Olympic gold medallist has stayed in the limelight by calling for a fight with featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, bantamweight titlist, Aljamain Sterling and even boxing legend, Floyd Mayweahter.

Perhaps, with a growing family to feed Cejudo will return to the Octagon sooner rather than later.

Do you think impending fatherhood could convince Henry Cejudo to end his brief retirement from MMA?

Henry Cejudo has been looking for a big fight to make his comeback, and now he is claiming to have found it.

The former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion retired following a second round stoppage of Dominik Cruz in May 2020. Many questioned whether the retirement would stick, and Cejudo only added fuel to that fire by constantly calling out opponents over social media.

According to a Tweet from his account, it appears that Cejudo will indeed come out of retirement, only he won’t be returning to the octagon just yet.

“It’s going down!” Cejudo wrote. “The Triple C vs The Olympic bronze medalist @floydmaywether #staytune”. He also included a doctored photo of him facing off against Floyd Mayweather.

The announcement comes after UFC president Dana White was seen visiting Mayweather’s home in Las Vegas earlier this week. Mayweather was meeting with RIZIN FF President Nobuyuki Sakakibara, presumably scheduling another collaboration after their ‘Mega 2021‘ event fell through in February. The pair had previously worked together when Mayweather took on RIZIN and kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition match, which he won in the first round.

White’s appearance at the meeting apparently came as a surprise to Sakakibara, as it was the first time the former PRIDE FC head had seen the UFC boss in 15 years.

A move to the boxing ring for Cejudo shouldn’t come as a surprise. While he has called for fights against UFC champions Alexander Volkanovski and Aljamain Sterling, he has also tried to get the attention of rising boxing star Ryan Garcia.

As for Mayweather, he was expected to face YouTube sensation Logan Paul in an exhibition match in February, but that fight fell through. If the fight against Cejudo does come to fruition, it will be Mayweather’s first since the aforementioned bout against Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve 2018. Prior to that, he ran his professional record to 50-0 with a win over Conor McGregor, so another fight against an MMA star isn’t far-fetched.

Only time will tell if White was able to throw Cejudo’s name into the mix in his meeting, or if this is just another patented Henry Cejudo troll-job. If the fight is made official, it will be interesting to see if it will be an official boxing match, or another exhibition with special rules applied.

Aljamain Sterling: Petr Yan Is Being Rewarded For Cheating With Rematch

(H/T MMA Junkie)

“Any other sport when you do something intentionally illegal, you get suspended, you get fined, you get ejected from the game.”

Aljamain has faced a storm of criticism from Yan, other fighters, and fans alike. The first fighter in the promotion’s history to win a title due to a disqualification, Sterling has been called an ‘actor’ for how he responded to the fight-ending foul. While some have come to his defense, Sterling remains the heel to most.

Aljamain Sterling’s recent comments are in stark contrast to his position on a rematch following UFC 259. He originally said that he felt a rematch with Yan was the fight to make in the aftermath of his title win. Yet, it seems as time has passed Sterling now believes that a rematch will be in the future but should not be immediate. For his part, Yan has been vocal about the fact that he believes Sterling doesn’t want to fight him again. Since the fight, Yan and Sterling continue to engage in a war of the words on Twitter. It’s possible that this is contributing to Sterling’s shift in opinion.

“This guy is getting rewarded with a rematch, which I get is a big fight. But, it is like, we can just break the rules and nothing is ever going to happen to us. So I can just jump the octagon and nothing is ever going to happen to me. I can just go and fight another corner or push him after the bell and nothing is ever going to happen. It’s like, I feel like when you have rules for a reason. You kinda have to enforce them, or otherwise let’s just run them up. I feel like his ass should have been suspended or something. Pay me some money for an illegal foul that might take years off of my career.”

It will be interesting to see who Sterling does eventually fight in his first title defense. He has stated that he would be OK fighting Henry Cejudo before Yan. Now that Cejudo has returned, the future of the Sterling/Yan rematch may be in the air.

Who do you think Aljamain Sterling should fight in his first title defense?

Henry Cejudo wants a boxing match against Ryan Garcia, and he’s letting everyone know about it.

Cejudo surprised many when he retired following his UFC 249 victory over Dominick Cruz. Observers were skeptical it was truly the last time they would see ‘Triple C’ compete, and he has only given them reason to doubt with call-outs of a number of UFC fighters, as well as boxing star Ryan Garcia.

In a new video obtained by EsNews, Cejudo comes face-to-face with one of Garcia’s friends, the legendary Canelo Alvarez.

Cejudo and Alvarez manage to keep things relatively friendly. Though the conversation takes place in Spanish, the cameraman at one point tells Alvarez that Cejudo wants to fight Garcia, to which Canelo responds, “Why not?” Cejudo accuses Alvarez of being nice for the camera before both men go their separate ways. The former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion turns to the camera and declares, “I’m ready. Someone’s gotta bend the knee to Triple C.”

The 22-year old Garcia is one of the hottest stars in all of boxing. He’s put together a sparkling 21-0 record and recently claimed the interim WBC lightweight title. A fight between he and Cejudo has been rumored as far back as last summer, though it appears no movement has been made on the match-up since then.

Cejudo has announced that his return to competition could be coming soon, though he didn’t say if that would be in the octagon or squared circle. If he does return to the UFC, he would most likely receive an immediate title shot in either the flyweight or bantamweight divisions, given that he ruled over both.

Garcia’s next fight has yet to be announced. Many are holding out hope that it would be against either the legendary Manny Pacquiao or fellow rising star Gervonta Davis.

Canelo Alvarez is coming of a third-round destruction against an over-matched mandatory challenger, Avni Yildirim. With the win, he defended both his WBC and WBZ super-middleweight titles. He will next face-off against Billy Joe Saunders in a highly anticipated bout on May 8.

It looks like former two-division UFC Champion Henry Cejudo may have reinstated himself back to the title picture after an absolute cliffhanger in a recent interview.

Cejudo’s most recent fight came last May where he successfully folded Dominick Cruz inside two rounds.

In a shock to many, ‘Triple C’ would retire following the UFC 249 co-main event and his belt was vacated right on the spot.

Fast forward a little less than a year and the first Bantamweight title defense since Cejudo’s would take place at UFC 259, being Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling. This was a fight that the former ‘king of cringe’ watched closely. Perhaps, the winner would go on to bend the knee to ‘Triple C’.

However, it ended abruptly as Yan was the one who bent the knee to brutalize Sterling in disqualifying fashion. One illegal knee to the temple was enough to wave the fight off and announce yet another champion in Sterling. Cejudo would cross paths with Sterling, paving a path to a potential fight.

However, despite the intriguing spectacle that old champ vs new champ would be, the Yan rematch seems to be what is likely next. The first meeting between the two ended up being closely contested up until the illegal blow and it is apparent that the two have unfinished business.

The bad-blooded match may end up stalling the division in the process, leaving contender Cory Sandhagen and former champ TJ Dillashaw out of title contention indefinitely. This won’t stop Cejudo from wanting a cut of the cake though.

Making an appearance on ESPN’s SportsNation, Cejudo cut some promos after the controversial event between Sterling and Yan last weekend.

“I’d like to line up both Petr Yan and Aljamain ‘Curling Sterling’ Silver at the same time.” Cejudo said. “I’d like to beat up both of them.”

“You guys stay tuned, man. Triple C is coming back!” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)
