Charismatic kickboxing talent, Viacheslav Borshchev has successfully landed in the Octagon with a vicious first round body shot knockout win over Dakota Bush in the opening round — kicking off the main card of UFC Vegas 46 with a bang and lodging the night’s first stoppage.

Entering his UFC debut off the back of a stunning knockout win over Scottish standout, Chris Duncan on Dana White‘s Contender Series — the Volgograd native managed to secure his fourth consecutive victory with his opening round knockout win over Bush, improving to 6-1 in the process.

Borshchev, who trains at Team Alpha MMA in Sacramento, California, has also competed for the likes of LFA and Titan FC during his professional run, and stops Bush in the opening round to land his stunning fifth knockout victory.

#3 ranked UFC heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis has put August interim title woes behind him, stopping Chris Daukaus with a big first round knockout win — to become the most prolific knockout artist in the history of the organization at UFC Vegas 45.

Patiently waiting for his opening, Lewis found himself on the receiving end of some notable, heavy leg kicks from Philadelphia native, Daukaus, before replying with a lengthy combination while swarming the Pennsylvania native.

Clipping Daukuas in the clinch, Lewis managed to force the former backward at the fence, before finally flattening the #7 ranked contender, folding him and scoring his thirteenth heavyweight knockout win — before calling for a championship challenge, over the course of three rounds, no less, in his next Octagon walk.

Former two-weight KSW champion, Mateusz Gamrot has scored his third UFC victory and third finish to boot, forcing a second round verbal submission from the #12 ranked lightweight, Diego Ferreira, after landing a seemingly debilitating knee during a grappling scramble.

The Poznan native attempted to utilise his notable wrestling and offensive grappling ability against Fortis MMA staple, Ferreira throughout the two round affair, and appeared to land an ultimately fight altering knee to the body during a second round grappling scamble.

Taking Ferreira’s back at the Octagon fence, Gamrot shot forward with a knee to the side of Ferreira, which immediately drew a reaction from the Brazilian who signalled to referee, Jason Herzog that he was no longer able to continue.

Following the victory, Gamrot, who added Ferreira to a winning run which includes a pair of stoppage wins over both Scott Holtzman, and the veteran, Jeremy Stephens, called for a showdown with one-time undisputed lightweight title challenger, Michael Chandler next year.

Veteran UFC featherweight contender, Cub Swanson turned in a masterful performance to open the main card of UFC Vegas 45 — forcing a first round knockout win over fellow division mainstay, Darren Elkins.

Swanson, who joined former-foes, Jose Aldo and Max Holloway for most combined featherweight wins in UFC and WEC history, managed to bloody the durable Elkins early in the opening round with his striking before sitting back and comfortably countering the veteran.

Rushing in after a couple of well-placed shots and a notable knockdown. Swanson barely missed with a wheel kick, before clipping Elkins once again — who stumbled forward, and forced referee, Herb Dean to call a halt to the fight in the opening frame.

UFC heavyweight, Justin Tafa made it six knockout wins from six professional triumphs tonight on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 45 — stopping Harry Hunsucker with a thunderous opening round high-kick.

The Auckland native, who incidentally, became the first heavyweight in the history of the organization to miss weight yesterday, came in at 267lbs, two pounds beyond the division limit, drawing notable attention.

Dropping Hunsucker early in the first round, Tafa then shrugged the challenger off before launching a left high kick at the fence, and despite managing to block the kick with both forearms, Hunsucker was dropped, suffering a opening round knockout loss to the New Zealand native.

Some substantial bodywork in the first round from Oliveira, however, the Brazilian appears to be struggling with the power output from the challenger, Poirier, Incredibly close opening round.

A hugely dominant second frame from Oliveira, who secures a position in Poirier’s closed guard via a scramble — where he rides out four minutes and lands a series of elbows as the challenger remains closed from the bottom.

Early in the third round, Oliveira manages to leap on the back of Poirier at the fence, before securing both hooks. After hand fighting with the Lafayette native for some time, Oliveira eventually locks up a standing rear-naked choke to submit Poirier and successfully secure the first defense of his lightweight crown.
