It looks like the highly-anticipated Boxing match between Jake Paul and Ben Askren did great business on Saturday night.

According to SB Nation affiliate Bad Left Hook, the event reportedly broke the 1.45 million pay-per-view buy mark, and could exceed two million once traditional and digital pay-per-view outlets are included in the mix.

Paul recently posted on his Instagram that the event accumulated “1.5 million PPV buys…. $75 million dollars generated”. While the formal announcement hasn’t been made regarding the exact economics of the bout, it appears to have garnered the attention of millions around the world.

Leading up to the fight, MMA Fighting reported that Askren would make $500,000 for fighting Paul, who earned at least $690,000 for his knockout victory in the first round.

In the card’s co-main event, Regis Prograis earned the highest purse payout of $850,000 for his impressive victory over Ivan Redkach.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir also earned $350,000 after falling to Steve Cunningham, who earned $150,000 for the victory in their fight.

Despite the massive success, the Askren/Paul fight isn’t the highest-selling combat sports event so far in 2021. That honor would go to UFC 257, which reportedly sold 1.6 million PPV buys and featured the second bout between top UFC lightweights Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.

But love him or hate him, it appears that Paul has skyrocketed into one of the most profitable assets in Boxing today. Despite a small sample size of just three fights with three knockout victories, Paul could emerge among the top profiteers in Boxing with a few more fights under his belt.

It’s unclear as of right now what Paul will do for his next fight. MMA veterans BJ Penn, Mike Perry and Dillon Danis have been rumored as possible adversaries in the future; with additional interest in matchups with UFC stars Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor.

Askren confirmed after the bout that he will not make a return to any type of cage, and will transition his focus to coaching wrestling in his native Wisconsin.

Do you think Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren could go down as one of the highest-earning PPVs at the end of 2021?

Mike Perry Jake Paul

Mike Perry isn’t too fond of Jake Paul’s recent comment that the UFC veteran was ‘light work’ during a recent sparring session leading up to Paul’s boxing match with Ben Askren.

After UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier posted on Twitter that he would like to see Perry take on the YouTuber turned Boxer, Paul responded to the tweet with a differing opinion.

“He was light work,” Paul tweeted. “In his own words, “you kicked my ass”, I want to see Jake Paul vs. Dustin Prober.”

Paul also shared a brief clip of a conversation between himself and Perry, in which “Platinum” does make the remark “Good job man. You kicked my ass”.

Perry didn’t take Paul’s tweet in kind, and leaked his own 10-second clip of the two sparring in the ring.

“I took your best shots and walked you down all day,” Perry posted on his Instagram. “You showed heart and you’re already successful and you seemed to have a strong team (power in numbers), but you’re a spoiled brat and I’m rich in life.”

Perry and Paul share some similarities, as the two of them are no stranger to controversy away from combat sports. Perry has been recorded using racial slurs and striking an elderly man outside a restaurant in Texas, while Paul has been recently accused of sexual assault by TikTok star Justine Paradise; a claim in which he has vehemently denied.

Perry could be near the end of his UFC career after falling to Daniel Rodriguez last week at UFC Vegas 23, dropping his record in the UFC to 7-8. The UFC veteran has also publically questioned his next move after suffering defeat to Rodriguez.

Paul is coming off his viral knockout victory over Askren on Saturday night in an event hosted by Triller Fight Club. It’s unclear as to who Paul will challenge in the ring next, but it’s sure to garner the attention of Boxing and MMA fans alike.

YouTuber star turned fighter, Jake Paul, moved to 3-0 as a professional boxer this past weekend.

The 24-year-old transitioned to the sport last year and has looked good against low-level opposition.

Most notably, Paul spectacularly knocked out former NBA player, Nate Robinson, on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.

On Saturday the internet celebrity stepped up his level opposition for the first time as he faced a real fighter in Ben Askren.

The former MMA champion is known for his poor striking, but many believed he’d be able to beat Paul.

Paul quickly dispatched of ‘Funky’ who was dropped heavily in the first round.

The referee waved off the fight despite Aksren getting back to his feet, cementing the embarrassing defeat.

Post-fight, Paul considered who could be his next opponent.

“We’ll see,” Paul told MMA Junkie. “There are a lot of people. But honestly, when it comes down to signing the contract, these guys duck. Honestly, we’ll see. The McGregor fight just became more realistic, like I’ve been saying. I just want to do big fights.”

Paul wants to put on the biggest possible fights and is hoping to do serious pay-per-view numbers in the future.

“I’m going to take some time off,” Paul said. “I’ve been working my f*cking ass off. I’m only going to do big fights. I want to challenge myself at the same time. Ben Askren was a step up. OK, look what happened (in) 1:59. We’ll see who the next big challenge is. I don’t want to take some bullsh*t sh*t. I want to challenge myself. I want to do 3 million, 4 million pay-per-view buys. Who’s going to bring in those numbers?”

McGregor is currently preparing for his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier. The Irishman has for the most part ignored “The YouTube Kid” who has relentlessly been calling him out for a while.

Do you think Jake Paul will eventually fight Conor McGregor?

Jake Paul and his team had a few words to share with Tyron Woodley before the Ben Askren fight.

Paul took on Askren in the Triller Fight Club headliner last night and delivered an emphatic right hand to get an easy first-round TKO win and go 3-0 as a result.

Woodley was cornering Askren for the fight and as it turns out, he had some heated words with Paul and super middleweight J’Leon Love backstage before the fight.

Woodley kept calm as he spoke of his world titles in mixed martial arts while Love — who was helping Paul during his camp — kept provoking the former welterweight champion and mentioning how he hasn’t achieved anything with boxing gloves on.

You can watch it below:

Former UFC two-weight champion Daniel Cormier wasn’t a fan of how Woodley was being spoken to as he took to Twitter on Sunday to comment on the video and Love in particular.

“I mean the way this dude talked to T- wood makes my skin crawl. All these kids are going to get taught a lesson I swear. And I can’t wait for it, @JLeonLove you can’t fight. Better respect dudes like @TWooodley before he puts his hands on you. He ain’t Ben!”

What did you make of the altercation?
