Jake Paul has revealed he is in talks for a potential fight with UFC icon Nate Diaz.

The YouTube star transitioned to boxing in 2020 and enjoyed success against extremely low-level opposition. Most notably, Paul knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson on the undercard or Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. in November.

Since then the 24-year-old has been pursuing fights with MMA stars, namely Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis. However, Paul was unable to secure either of the SBG duo for his third professional fight and instead opted to face former Bellator and ONE Championship titleholder, Ben Askren.

On Tuesday, it was announced Paul would face off against Askren in the boxing ring on April 17. The fight will headline on Triller pay-per-view with a stacked undercard of high-profile names from social media and fighting.

Paul says after he has dispatched of Askren, a fight with Nate Diaz is very much on the cards.

“We’re talking to Diaz’s team. He wants to do it as well,” Paul told Heavy.com. “He has two more fights with the UFC apparently. So we’ll see what happens. If he frees up from the UFC, that’s the fight.

Diaz is known for having good boxing. He even trained with retired world champion Andre Ward during his peak years in the sport.

Paul isn’t worried though and insists he would beat Diaz.

“Diaz started talking s*** to me. Bro, Diaz is a punching bag,” Paul said. “The guy just goes into fights and walks forward,”

“They’re different sports,” Paul continued. “He’s tough, but a lot of guys are tough. So the Diaz fight makes sense, and he’ll get tatted up.”

First things first Paul must get by Askren on April 17.

“I would love to fight Nate Diaz after Askren,” Paul said. “But we’re not overlooking Ben Askren.”

Jake Paul Will Train With Jorge Masvidal Ahead Of Ben Askren Bout

YouTube celebrity turned professional boxer Jake Paul has revealed he will train with UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal in preparation for his fight with former Bellator and ONE Championship titleholder Ben Askren.

On Tuesday it was announced Paul will box retired UFC fighter Askren on April 17. The fight will take place on Triller pay-per-view.

It represents Paul’s first step up in opposition. He has previously only fought fellow social media personalities and Nate Robinson, a former NBA player.

Askren was wildly successful during his time as a professional fighter. However, he is primarily known for his elite-level wrestling skills. Askren’s boxing ability is questionable, especially when compared to the world class fighters he came up against including Masvidal.

‘Gamebred’ famously knocked Askren out with a flying knee just five seconds into their fight in 2019.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Paul revealed he has relocated to Miami, Floirda and is set to link up with Masvidal.

“We’re here in Miami training. I wanted to channel Masvidal’s energy since he’s in Florida. I wanted to link up with Masvidal,” Paul said.

“I’m linking up with Masvidal tomorrow. Yeah, he’s gonna help me train for this fight and hopefully I can knock Ben (Askren) out faster than Masvidal did. I know it seems like a lofty goal but if I can get under 4.9 seconds then I can break his record.”

Masvidal hasn’t fought since falling short in his bid to become the UFC welterweight champion. ‘Gamebred’ took the late notice call to face Kamaru Usman at UFC 251 last summer. He was easily dealt with by ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ who claimed a unanimous decision victory over the inaugural BMF titleholder. Masvidal continues to tick over at American Top Team in Florida as rumours about a potential fight with former teammate Colby Covington continue to swirl.

Ben Askren Not Concerned By Jake Paul: ‘Think About The Guys I’ve Stood Across The Cage From’

Ben Askren is not too worried about the prospect of boxing Jake Paul.

It was made official on Tuesday that the former UFC welterweight would take on Paul in an eight-round boxing match set to take place April 17.

Despite being the first fighter Paul will face in a boxing ring, many observers are overlooking Askren, including the oddsmakers. That’s because he’s never been much of a striker with the general consensus being the fight will end in a knockout win for Paul.

But as far as Askren is concerned, he has faced far better strikers over the course of his career with only one in Jorge Masvidal being able to put him away.

“Listen, he’s a YouTube star,” Askren explained to Ariel Helwani (via Middle Easy). “People are trying to think like he’s this good boxer. Ariel, think about the guys I’ve stood across the cage from. Douglas Lima, Andrey Koreshkov, Robbie Lawler. And they only had four-ounce gloves on and they could punch me, elbow me, kick me or knee me — they can do whatever the hell they wanted.

“Now I have to box this YouTube star with 10-ounce gloves on. It’s just not all that concerning to me.”

While that is a fair point, Askren was able to defeat those fighters by utilizing his wrestling and grappling. That won’t be the case against Paul.

Regardless, “Funky” is expecting to get the win and even offered a prediction.

“TKO, round seven,” Askren added. “Because I don’t have a huge amount of power. It’s going to take me some time to wear him down and make him hate his life.“And then eventually, he’ll say, ‘look, I’m a rich celebrity. I don’t need to get f*cking punched anymore. I’m just going to roll over.’”

Jake Paul is making a name for himself in the boxing world. After knocking out an NBA star, he now has his eyes set on the MMA community.

Jake Paul may have made his name through 6-second Vine videos but he is now an active boxer. Most see his presence as a blaring indication of how far boxing has fallen. Whilst others see it as a bit of fun. Jake’s ability to get eyes on him is undoubted. His debut against NBA star Nate Robinson helped to pull in over a million pay per view buys whilst on the undercard to Roy Jones Jr. vs Mike Tyson. With Jake coming away with an alleged eight-figure payday, it is easy to see why he’s so eager to get in the ring. Particularly after his brutal second-round KO win over Robinson.

Jake’s eight-round pro boxing bout with Ben Askren on April 17th is now official. Danis reacted to the news by posting out direct messages between him and the YouTube star about their failed fight.

Danis also took to Twitter to claim he’d beat Paul and Askren in the same night.

“i could literally on god beat @jakepaul and @Benaskren in a boxing match back to back on the same night.”

Dillon Danis might have made his name through being a bit of an online troll and a friend and training partner of Conor McGregor, but he is also a legit Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. Danis is great at choking you out on the floor, but he isn’t exactly known for his punching abilities. After whipping up an online rivalry with Jake which, even resulted in Jake throwing water balloons at Danis, the two seem to be on a collision course of cringeworthy proportions.

Dillon Danis tweeted out a conversation between Jake Paul and himself. In the posted DMs, Danis called his offer “dog shit” and says that he can fight in June when his knee recovers. It would seem we could very well see the two battle it out in the summer if negotiations do pick up. Imagine if Jake Paul knocks out Ben Askren and Dillon Danis in less than four months, now that would not look good for the MMA community. Although he’s not exactly choosing people known for their stand-up game, to be fair.
