Jeremy Stephens targets his next fight inside of the Octagon despite just fighting recently.

The MMA Veteran suffered a unanimous decision loss to Zabit Magomedsharipov at the UFC 235 pay-per-view event. This show went down on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As a result, Stephens has lost two straight after going on a three-fight winning streak. Prior to UFC 235, he dropped first round TKO loss to former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo back in July.

This comes after scoring some of the biggest wins in his pro-MMA career. He decisioned Gilbert Melendez at UFC 215 then finished Doo Ho Choi in January 2018 and Josh Emmett the following month. Now, he’s in search of his first victory in over a year.

Thus, Stephens took to his Instagram account to make a case for competing on the UFC 238 card. This show goes down on June 8, 2019 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois. He wrote the following:

“I would like to ask [UFC President Dana White and Sean Shelby] for a quick return in June for Chicago with a game opponent who wants to fight, so I can get back to winning ways! I’m blessed to walk out of the fight happy, healthy, and in great spirit! I’ll be back in the gym after this week and ready to return with something big! Thanks for all the love and support it means the world to me! God bless everyone, and at the end of the day numbers don’t lie people love tuning in to watch human highlight reel knockout artist – Jeremy Stephens.”

According to MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer, the prelims averaged a 1.0 rating based on overnight ratings in the metered market. That’s the same number as the UFC 234 prelims last month, which resulted in a 1,339,000 viewership number. With that, the UFC 235 prelims have tied several other shows for the second-best pay-per-view (PPV) overnight prelim ratings since 2013.

They only trail the UFC 205 prelims, which was the UFC’s first show from Madison Square Garden, and was headlined by Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez. The UFC 235 prelims were headlined by Jeremy Stephens vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov. Johnny Walker also had a 36-second knockout win over Misha Cirkunov. Not to mention Diego Sanchez opening the prelims with a second-round thrashing of Mickey Gall.

Audience numbers will be available on Tuesday. The report also suggests that UFC 235 did relatively normal as opposed to big PPV numbers based on Google searches for the event. The PPV was the number one searched item in the country Saturday with more than a million searches. Usually, shows like that will do between 250,000 to 400,000 buys.

The UFC has put together a tremendous card for fight fans this weekend (Sat. March 2, 2019).

UFC 235 goes down on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a fight that includes two title bouts, some contests might get overlooked. Take Jeremy Stephens vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov for example. “Lil Heathen’” will attempt to become the first man to defeat Magomedsharipov in the UFC. The two have had some intense confrontations ahead of their clash.

They recently had an interesting backstage run-in at the UFC’s designated fighter hotel. While both men were getting groomed, Zabit attempted to get face-to-face with his opponent. They tried playing it off as if they were trying to compare who had the best beard, but there was certainly a bit of tension in the room.

Check it out here:

Zabit is undefeated in his UFC run and has won three of his four fights under the promotion’s banner by way of submission. Now, he’ll test himself against one of the UFC’s most dangerous veterans. Stephens is one of the hardest punchers in the featherweight division.

He is coming off his first loss in three fights after being finished by Jose Aldo via first-round TKO. Stephens wants to get back in the win column by shutting down the Zabit hype train on one of the biggest cards of the year.
