Daniel Cormier roasts Joaquin Buckley following criticism of cringey Conor McGregor callout

Daniel Cormier is going to take any of Joaquin Buckley’s sh*t.

After scoring his fourth-straight win via a unanimous decision over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC St. Louis, ‘New Mansa’ delivered a cringeworthy callout of Irish megastar Conor McGregor, calling the former two-division champion a “hoe” and dragging his mother and father into the insult.

Offering his thoughts on a recent episode of ESPN’s Good Buy/Bad Guy with co-host Chael Sonnen, Cormier dubbed it the worst callout of all time.

Michael Bisping, who was the one conducting the post-fight interview, also slammed Buckley’s comments in a UFC St. Louis reaction video on YouTube, saying:

“He went too far. He’s trying to be insulting and give McGregor a reason to want to fight him. He was calling his mom and grandma a hoe, basically. I like a bit of a sh*t talk, and then when he went that far, I’m like, ‘Oh, this is bad.’”

Needless to say, Joaquin Buckley didn’t take kindly to the criticism.

Let this be known @dc_mma @bisping @ChaelSonnen Ya mommas raised some hoes!!!!! Yall really trying to twist up my words knowing damn well what I said in that cage but it’s ok we can all have some fun,” Buckley wrote on X.

It didn’t take long for Cormier to snap back with a response unbecoming of the typically mild-mannered Hall of Famer.

“Shut up Pussy! Maybe listen,” Cormier replied. “You had a dumb ass call out. You’re getting talked about by 3 of the biggest voices in the game. Maybe listen. It was the worst call out in history. Don’t let winning at few fights at 170lbs get you too excited bruh. Don’t mention Audrey!”

Joaquin Buckley squanders a golden opportunity

By all accounts, Joaquin Buckley’s callout of Conor McGregor was nothing more than a waste of mic time. After earning a big win in his hometown, ‘New Mansa’ could have used it as a star-making moment. Instead, he went for the biggest fish in the pond which is never a good idea when you’ve barely outgrown being a guppy.

Four days removed from fight night, McGregor himself is yet to respond to Buckley’s callout. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about Buckley’s chances of ever stepping inside the Octagon with ‘Mystic Mac.’

Former UFC champ-champ Daniel Cormier doesn’t like Joaquin Buckley trashing Conor McGregor’s mom after his UFC St. Louis win.

Buckley defeated Nursulton Ruziboev by decision in the co-main event, in a fight that came together on short notice after he called to be on the card. After the win, Buckley decided to call out McGregor but did it in a way that many fans were not happy with.

“I researched the McGregor name and you come from a long, long line of McHo*s. Your dad was a b***h. Your grandfather was a p***y. Your great-great-grandfather was a p***y. So, I guess it’s safe to say that your mom was a p***y. And guess what? If you don’t answer, and I’ll bet the money I don’t even have that you won’t, everyone will know I’m telling the truth,” Buckley said.

To no surprise, McGregor did not respond to the callout while UFC CEO Dana White shut down any chance of that fight happening.

Cormier, meanwhile, didn’t like the callout one bit as he thinks Buckley took it way too far.

“That was horrible, how do you do that? I just don’t know what he was doing. Then he goes and he calls Conor McGregor’s mom a bad name. It couldn’t have gotten worse. It was bad,” Daniel Cormier said on Good Guy vs Bad Guy (via YardBarker).

Whether or not McGregor will respond to Buckley’s callout is uncertain.

Joaquin Buckley turns attention to Gilbert Burns

After Joaquin Buckley’s win at UFC St. Louis, he admitted he knew he wouldn’t be getting the fight with Conor McGregor.

Instead, Buckley has now turned his attention to a former welterweight title challenger in the form of Gilbert Burns.

“Gilbert Burns, I think it’s a beautiful fight,” Buckley said. “A beautiful match-up. I don’t know when he’s going to be cleared or when he’s going to be ready, but Gilbert Burns, definitely.”

Joaquin Buckley is 19-6 as a pro and is 9-4 in the UFC, but is a perfect 4-0 since dropping down to welterweight.

Joaquin Buckley had a big-name callout following his big win at UFC St. Louis on Saturday night.

Still fresh from his second-round TKO victory over Vicente Luque in March, ‘New Mansa’ stepped inside the Octagon to deliver another spectacular showing in front of his hometown crow. Buckley did exactly that, dominating the significantly taller Nursulton Ruziboev in an entertaining three-round scrap during the evening’s co-main event.

After securing a decisive unanimous decision victory, Buckley used his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping to call out Irish megastar Conor McGregor, challenging the former two-division champion to step up and take on a real welterweight rather than a “midget lightweight” like Michael Chandler.

“Who do I want next? He’s got a fight already booked up, but it’s a massive name. There’s only one name you should call out. A powerful name. That name is Conor McGregor. I want you. You fighting at 170, but you ain’t fighting a welterweight. You fighting a lightweight midget. Come at me, bro. You said you built your weight up, but you’re bullying Sean O’Malley and Ryan Garcia. Come and bully me and let’s see what you’re really about.

“I did research on the McGregor name and you come from a long line of McHos! Your daddy was a ho. Your grand daddy was a ho. Your great great grand pappy was a ho, so I guess it’s safe to say your momma raised a ho! And if you don’t respond, the whole world will know I’m telling the truth.”

Don’t count on Seeing Joaquin Buckley vs. conor mcGregor anytime soon… Or ever

Sitting at No. 11 in the welterweight rankings, Joaquin Buckley has now won four straight and is 9-4 under the UFC banner.

‘New Mansa’ will likely look to break into the top ten in his next outing, but we wouldn’t recommend anyone hold their breath when it comes to a fight with Conor McGregor.

Of course, ‘Mystic Mac’ already has a date with former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler. Nearly 18 months after their fight was first announced, the two high-octane superstars will square off in the UFC 303 headliner on June 29, closing out this year’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas with a bang.

Joaquin Buckley awkwardly bails on MMA Hour interview after accusing Ariel Helwani of using UFC fighters

Things got a little intense between welterweight standout Joaquin Buckley and Ariel Helwani during Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour.

Fresh off his second-round knockout of Vicente Luque at UFC Atlantic City, ‘New Mansa’ made an appearance on Helwani’s show to discuss his big win and what may be next.

Joaquin Buckley vs. Vicente Luque

Along the way, Buckley called out Helwani, accusing the multi-time award-winning journalist of using loaded questions to weaponize fighters against the UFC.

“You’ve been in the business for a long time,” Buckley began. “Obviously, you have respect for what you do and you do it very well. You’ve got a lot of facts about the UFC and different fighters, but personally, I feel like when we come on your show, you try to use us as a weapon against the UFC, right?

“You use your platform, but you try to set us up lowkey with certain questions when those conversations and what you’re trying to talk about could get us in trouble.”

Ariel Helwani responds to Joaquin Buckley’s accusation

Helwani was quick to disagree with Buckley’s statement, respectfully responding with:

“Honestly, I don’t agree. I’ve been doing this show since 2009. You think I’m trying to make the fighters look bad? I’ve been doing this for 15 years and I have the fighters on because I love the fighters and respect the fighters and I want to give them an opportunity to tell their story and be able to learn more.

“I want to learn more and I hope that other people learn more when they hear from you guys. I’m not trying to weaponize anything. That would be crazy and I would be wasting my life doing anything like that.”

Helwani went on to ask Buckley for specific examples. It was then that Buckley promptly said that he was “through” and exited the interview, bringing an end to the awkward incident.

Joaquin Buckley

Joaquin Buckley made it three-in-a-row at UFC Atlantic City, pummeling No. 11 ranked contender Vicente Luque en route to a second-round TKO.

Looking to finally break into the welterweight top 15, ‘New Mansa’ came out firing on all cylinders, looking to land a one-hitter-quitter on his Brazilian opposition. The striking exchanges were fairly even throughout the first five minutes, but Buckley began to pull away in the second with his signature power.

Looking to close the distance, Luque moved in, but instead of attempting to take Buckley to the mat, he pulled guard, dragging Buckley on top of him. Leaving his guard open, Luque could do nothing, but cover up as the St. Louis native unleashed an onslaught of strikes on the mat. The referee gave Luque every opportunity to improve his position. Failing to do so, the bout was stopped just past the halfway point of the round.

Official Result: Joaquin Buckley def. Vicente Luque via TKO (ground and pound) at 3:17 or Round 2.

With the decisive victory over Vicente Luque, Buckley should have a number next to his name come Monday morning.
