Jorge Masvidal f*cking awesome Joe Rogan praise GSP comparisons UFC

Former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has reacted to praise from UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan – in which the veteran caller claimed that Masvidal was “on a different level” to former two-weight champion, Georges St-Pierre.

Masvidal, the current #11 ranked welterweight contender, is slated co-headline UFC 287 next month in his native Miami, Florida – drawing one-time title chaser, Gilbert Burns over the course of three rounds.

Sidelined since March of last year, Masvidal most recently headlined UFC 272 against arch-rival, Colby Covington, suffering a one-sided unanimous decision loss against former interim welterweight champion.

Recently appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience – Masvidal was lauded with praise prior to his appearance by Rogan, who boldly put the Floridian on the same level – if not higher than former duel-weight Octagon champion, St-Pierre.

Drawing major flak for his comments and comparisons – notably from former UFC light heavyweight and middleweight title challenger, Chael Sonnen, who claimed Rogan “was on drugs” – Masvidal nonetheless admitted that he was happy to here the New Jersey native sing his praises.

“Joe’s (Rogan) been watching the sport forever, and he truly is like an encyclopedia,” Jorge Masvidal told MMA Junkie Radio. “I was just with Joe, I got back from Texas. We’re like talking boxing and there’s not a name that I threw out that this guy doesn’t know and hasn’t digested 20 fights of this individual. … Every fight, every fighter that I brought up, he’s like, ‘Yeah, I remember so-and-so, he took him out in the seventh round.’ He’s just an encyclopedia of wealth for the sport.”

“So, for him to consider me one of the better fighters to have ever lived is – f*ck man, that’s a real like notch for me right there, man,” Jorge Masvidal explained. “That guy, I consider him a f*ckin’ true connoisseur of the sport. He calls it the way he is and stuff in fights. I don’t think he’s a biased dude, man. So, I really enjoy his commentary as well. I just feel like that’s f*cking awesome that he put me up there like that [with Georges St-Pierre].”

Jorge Masvidal claims he will fight for gold against Leon Edwards next

And ahead of his April return on home soil against Burns, Masvidal has claimed to be privy to some “insider information”, which he maintains will see him challenge undisputed champion, Leon Edwards for welterweight gold before the aforenoted, Covington.

Chael Sonnen claims Joe Rogan on drugs UFC Jorge Masvidal St-Pierre comments

Former undisputed UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger, Chael Sonnen has claimed color-commentator, Joe Rogan “is on drugs” – in relation to his comments that welterweight contender, Jorge Masvidal, and former two-time UFC champion, Georges St-Pierre are on different levels in terms of abilities.

Chael Sonnen strongly disagrees with Joe Rogan

Sonnen, a veteran mixed martial arts star turned analyst and podcaster, appeared to be perplexed by comments made by color-commentating staple, Rogan – who claimed that Masvidal was on “another level” compared to competition St-Pierre faced during his welterweight pomp – before then doubling down and maintaining Masvidal is a better fighter than the Canadian

“That’s not a rational statement,” Chael Sonnen said on his YouTube channel in relation to Joe Rogan’s comments. “Joe Rogan is fantastic at his job and when you talk a lot you get some things wrong.”

“He (Rogan) put (Jorge) Masvidal over as an example that today’s welterweights are far superior and they’re better than Georges St-Pierre,” Chael Sonnen explained. “We should just dismiss this. What Joe said and how he did this math is very common, but I would like to correct you to what a non-420 mind can come up with. Joe got to that point by stating that the competition is harder now than it was then. What does the competition have to do with the guy?”

Weighing up Rogan’s claims about Masvidal, Sonnen pointed to St-Pierre’s notable victories and methods to success against the likes of Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, and Nick Diaz.

“What kind of divisible are you going to put in when Georges goes out there and dominates a wrestling champion like Josh Koscheck,” Chael Sonnen explained. “Or knocks out a world champion like Matt Hughes? Or passes the guard of a Jiu-Jitsu ace like Nick Diaz? What kind of equation are you putting into the gap? Which 170-pounder out there do you believe Georges cannot take down? Let’s just start with that.”

“You cannot deduce one entity by drawing a conclusion to others, and if you do it, we should dismiss you,” Chael Sonnen continued. “And we should tell the kids in the backseat, ‘That guy is on drugs.’” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Joe Rogan claims Jorge Masvidal better fighter than Georges St-Pierre UFC

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has some interesting ideas when it comes to Jorge Masvidal and Georges St-Pierre.

Georges St-Pierre is an all-time great MMA fighter who held the UFC welterweight and middleweight titles in his career. With 13 consecutive victories, the Canadian-born ‘Rush’ was able to defend his title in nine bouts. Along the way, he would defeat notable fighters such as UFC champions Sean Sherk, BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Michael Bisping, and Johnny Hendricks. These were in addition to his wins over non-champions such as Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, and Carlos Condit, among many others.

Georges St-Pierre or Jorge Masvidal

On his podcast, Rogan was explaining the idea that fighters get better over time. He said:

“I just think the level of competition he faced is higher. GSP was so good he raised the bar, but you look at GSP’s victories. He beat some very good guys, but I think the guys Kamaru Usman beat – Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, Tyron Woodley — I think they are better.”

Rogan continued:

“Yeah, I think if Masvidal was around at that time he would be dangerous for everybody, I think he is on another level. I think everyone is on another level.” [Transcript courtesy of Talk Sport]

Jorge Masvidal was an active fighter at the same time as Georges St-Pierre. During the title reign of ‘Rush’ between 2008 to 2017, Masvidal would earn a record of 15-10. The two have no opponents in common as ‘Gamebred‘ was unable to become a welterweight or middleweight contender in Strikeforce to face the champions either Nick Diaz or Jake Shields.

Jon Jones UFC bad guy trying to be good guy Joe Rogan

Recently minted undisputed UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones has been described as a “bad guy, who is trying to be a good guy” by long-time promotional color-commentator, Joe Rogan – who also claimed the Endicott native is likely “terrifying” to the layperson.

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion to boot, snapped his three-year Octagon hiatus earlier this month atop a UFC 285 pay-per-view card in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Competing for the vacant heavyweight champion, Jones turned in a dominant, first round submission win over former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane – stopping the Frenchman with a guillotine choke inside two minutes of the opening frame.

Turning in his fifth consecutive victory since capping off his rivalry with former two-weight champion, Daniel Cormier – Jones added to wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Dominick Reyes with his submission over Factory MMA Paris mainstay, Gane earlier this month.

Jon Jones labelled the “undeniable” GOAT of MMA by Joe Rogan

Touted by podcast host and standup comedian, Rogan, as the “undeniable” greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all time with his submission success over Gane – the company caller also claimed Jones was attempting his best to be a “good guy” – hiding his “bad guy” tendencies.

“Jon (Jones) is what I would describe – there’s human beings that have different temperaments, different minds, and different mentalities,” Joe Rogan said on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “And have a ruthless competitive drive, that’s almost terrifying to the ordinary person. That’s Jon Jones.”

“Jon Jones is a bad guy who is trying to be a good guy,” Joe Rogan explained. “But that guy – if we were living a thousand years ago, he would be on a horse, with the biggest battleaxe, waiting at the back, hacking heads off – and everybody would be running.”

Expected to make his Octagon return later this year, Jones accused former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic of avoiding a summer fight with him at UFC 290 in July during International Fight Week – with the Ohio veteran swiftly denying those claims from former Jackson-Wink MMA staple, Jones.

Joe Rogan declares Jon Jones the ‘GOAT’ following UFC 285 title win: ‘It’s undeniable’

UFC commentator Joe Rogan has on decided his MMA GOAT, the current UFC heavyweight world champion Jon Jones. UFC commentator Joe Rogan has on decided his MMA GOAT, the current UFC heavyweight world champion Jon Jones.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones vacated his light heavyweight world title in 2020 after remaining unbeaten in the division since 2010. Having captured the light heavyweight crown in 2011, ‘Bones’ would go on to set the record for most UFC successful title defenses in the light heavyweight division’s history with 11. Along the way, he defeated notable fighters such as Daniel Cormier, Rashad Evans, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Lyoto Machida, and Glover Teixeira, among others.

At UFC 285, Jones made his long-awaited debut and fought Ciryl Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight title. With ease, ‘Bones’ was able to submit the top-ranked Gane in the very first round.

Joe Rogan declares Jon Jones to be the GOAT

According to the long-time UFC analyst, Joe Rogan, Jon Jones is the undeniable greatest of all time in MMA. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan said:

“Jon Jones is the GOAT. Now, it’s undeniable. There was all this debate until he submitted Ciryl Gane and became the heavyweight champion. No one can f*** with that.”

Rogan continued:

“You can’t accidentally beat Jon Jones. He’s GOAT over everybody now. Khabib [Nurmagomedov] is in the conversation, “Mighty Mouse” [Demetrious Johnson] is in that conversation, too. The only problem is — besides [Henry] Cejudo and a couple other guys like [Joseph] Benavidez, he (Johnson) was not dealing with guys that were of the caliber of guys that Jon Jones was facing. He was facing the elite of the elite and he never f****** lost even when he was doing coke and he wasn’t even training. That’s how goddamn good Jon Jones is.” [Transcript courtesy of MMA Fighting]

Joe Rogan UFC Comedy Club Mushrooms

The UFC’s greatest color commentator of all-time Joe Rogan recently opened up his own comedy club in Austin, Texas in an attempt to help fellow entertainers avoid cancel culture.

During this show, Rogan, an avid mushroom and cannabis consumer, opened up about using substances prior to his show:

“I’m drunk and on mushrooms in my new club! This is as high as I’ve ever been onstage. I need to connect with this moment. You can’t fire me from my own club, bitch!”

In addition to stand-up comedy and commentating UFC pay-per-view events, Joe Rogan also hosts perhaps the most successful YouTube podcast of all time, The Joe Rogan Experience, or also known as JRE. At this point however, considering his multi-million dollar deal with Spotify, that is the only place you can watch full episodes of his podcast these days.

On this show he talks to all sorts of very intriguing guests, from doctors and scientists to world travellers, to ex-marines, ex-cops, and of course, fighters.

Stand-up comedy is something Joe Rogan has been doing for over half of his life at this point, and while some might take offense to him opening statement that he’s high, many of us can see the light hearted harmlessness in it and could care less.

Joe Rogan returns to the commentary booth at UFC 287 in Miami, Florida next month

The next time we’ll see Rogan commentating on a UFC event will be at UFC 287 on April 8, 2023, as the next pay-per-view event, UFC 286, will go down in London, England. Rogan began only commentating PPV events within the USA, and honestly with as much as he does, who can blame him?
