Light heavyweights Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill are set to clash on Feb. 19 at UFC Fight Night 202 in Las Vegas.

MMAFighting.com broke the news today that the two would be added to the February fight night, which will be the fifth event of the 2022 year.

Walker, the 10th ranked light heavyweight, only fought once last year in a bout where he lost to former title challenger Thiago Santos via unanimous decision. Walker will be looking to get in the victory column for the first time in over a year. His last victory came on September 19, 2020, against Ryan Spann by KO.

It was also reported that Walker has signed a new six-fight contract with the UFC.

As for Hill, the #12-ranked light heavyweight, he will be looking to pick up his second win in a three-month span as he was victorious in his last fight against Jimmy Crute, who he knocked out in less than a minute at UFC on ESPN: Font vs. Aldo. Prior to his last victory, Hill tasted defeat for the first time in his career as he was submitted by Paul Craig.

A victory for either fighter should put them a step closer to a title shot, and this fight has the potential to be a fight of the night candidate.

Who do you think will win between Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill?

Jan Blachowicz thinks Johnny Walker’s recent struggles are a result of a style change he’s made over time.

Blachowicz remains the UFC’s light heavyweight king and will defend his title at UFC 267 against Glover Teixeira. The event will mark the UFC’s return to Abu Dhabi for internationally-based main events.

As the champion, Blachowicz is always keeping an eye on the rising contenders in his division, including Walker. But, Walker has lost three of his last four fights including a recent defeat to Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 38 by decision.

Walker was on his way to potential UFC stardom after winning nine fights in a row, but Blachowicz thinks losing has changed his mentality and approach to competition.

Jan Blachowicz Unsure What Caused Change In Johnny Walker

“Something happened for sure,” Blachowicz told the South China Morning Post. “He’s not the crazy fighter like in the beginning. I don’t know why. Maybe something happened with age. But maybe he’ll find this crazy [Johnny Walker] inside him again and start doing (it). But I don’t know.”

“Something bad happened with him. He’s not good to watch, so we’ll see in the future what’s gonna happen.”

Walker got off to a good start against Santos in his last fight, but many believed he seemed hesitant to throw combinations, especially in the later rounds. Walker’s struggles seemed to start after injuring himself while celebrating a knockout over Misha Cirkunov at UFC 235.

Blachowicz and Walker are on different paths in their UFC careers. Blachowicz has won five fights in a row including his title shot against Dominick Reyes, while Walker is looking to earn his first win since UFC Vegas 11.

Whether or not Walker’s recent struggles in the cage are a result of his injury issues is unclear, but Blachowicz feels that something needs to change for him to get back on track in the light heavyweight division.

Do you agree with Jan Blachowicz that Johnny Walker isn’t as dangerous as he once was early in his career?

Thiago Santos

One-time UFC light heavyweight title challenger, the #5 ranked, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos has brought a halt to his disappointing three-fight losing skid, with a rather forgettable unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) win over compatriot, Johnny Walker.

In a rather hesitant performance from both contenders, in a main event bout which promised fireworks on paper, at least, Santos managed to snap his three-fight losing skid — narrowly edging out Straight Blast Gym mover, Walker over the course of five rounds.

With both content to attempt to counter one another over the course of the 25-minute main event, the headlining bout left very little to write home about, with Santos landing impactful left body kicks on occasion as Walker circled and defended.

In arguably the biggest moment of the night, Santos managed to uncork a massive overhand left, which appeared to land, somewhat clean, at least on Walker, who beckoned him to walk forward — a request which was left unanswered.

Below, catch the highlights from Santos’ win over Walker at UFC Vegas 38.

Thiago Santos vs. Johnny Walker was not what everyone had hoped to see.

The showdown served as the main event of the UFC Vegas 38 event on Saturday night (, 2021) from Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex facility.

As seen in the fight, the first round was skippable and that’s putting it lightly. There was little to no action aside from a few leg kicks. Moving along to the second round, Santos went for a takedown, but Walker stuffed it and they landed shots when getting up. Through the third round, Walker started to get more loose with his strikes, but wasn’t throwing in volume. Santos was out landing him. Walker had the advantage in the fourth round. They continued to strike in the fifth round. Santos cracked him with a big right hand. A very close fight due to lack of output. The judges gave the win to Santos by decision.

This was an important contest for both guys. Santos had dropped four straight losses before this fight. Santo dropped a split decision loss to then-UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at the UFC 239 pay-per-view event in July 201, Glover Teixeira via submission in November 2020 and then a decision defeat to Aleksandar Raki? at UFC 259. On the flip side, Walker dropped a decision loss to Nikita Krylov in March 2020, but rebounded with a KO win over Ryan Spann in September 2020 heading into the fight.

Let’s see how the fighters reacted to the outcome of this fight:
