Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate has reacted to Jon Jones’ most recent run-in with the law.

Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was arrested and charged with battery domestic violence on Sept. 24, 2021. While it appeared Jones was bulking up to make a huge splash in the heavyweight division, “Bones” himself poured cold water on that prosperous endeavor. After posting bail a day after his arrest and being slapped with an Oct. 26 court date, the UFC superstar sits waiting.

Upon hearing of the unfortunate news, the #8-ranked Tate shared her thoughts on how Jones’ actions outside of the cage might affect the way fans view him overall.

“It is so disheartening,” Tate tells MMAMania.com and SB Nation’s Combat Culture. “Jon Jones, we can give him all the compliments for his accolades and he deserves that, but there are just a lot of unforgivable things that he’s done throughout the history of his career. At least in the limelight that we know of. It’s really tough to separate, I think it’s getting more difficult for fans to separate the two. To just be a fan of him as a fighter and not recognize the other things he does as a human being that kind of tarnish that.”

The former 135-pound titleholder believes the buck stops with Jones. While some have indicated perhaps the UFC, or Dana White should render disciplinary actions against Jones, Tate insists that this is a problem only “Bones” can solve, and no one else.

“Who should be in charge of Jon Jones? Jon Jones should be in charge of Jon Jones. There’s nobody else that we should be looking at. Tate said. It’s not his fiancée’s fault, it’s not his parents’ fault at this point. He’s a grown-ass man. He’s a grown-ass man and he needs to be responsible.”

Tate believes self-responsibility will lead to the exit of this dark chapter Jones is embarking on. As of late, Jones has been seen on social media where an innocuous video surfaced of himself and his fiancé seemingly head over heels.

Do you agree with Miesha Tate’s assessment of Jon Jones?

Anthony Smith Not Shocked By Jones Arrest: “It’s Sad At This Point”

Anthony Smith wasn’t surprised by the recent arrest of his former Octagon dance partner, Jon Jones. Since their light heavyweight title bout in 2019, the duo have famously taken turns slinging mud at one another. Last year, after Jones denigrated Smith’s attempt to resist a home invasion, “Lion Heart” labeled his former rival a “f**king douchebag.” A few months later, Jones would return the favor by mocking Smith’s championship mettle following his loss to Glover Teixeira.

And tensions flared once again earlier this year when Smith boldly alleged that Jones “failed every drug test” in the week of their 2019 fight, despite months prior praising the former light heavyweight champ for vacating his title.

Anthony Smith Reacts To Jones Arrest, Expresses Pity

Clearly, Smith and Jones have had a fraught relationship. But after Jon’s recent arrest for battery domestic violence and injuring/tampering with a vehicle, Smith has taken the high road.

In an interview with R.J Clifford on the MMA On SiriusXM radio show, Anthony expressed his thoughts on Jones’ latest in a long line of personal issues, noting his own brushes with the law early in his career.

“For the longest time I’ve tiptoed around Jon Jones’ issues because I haven’t been perfect,” Smith said (h/t Sportskeeda). “I can’t talk about Jon being a f**k up, having made a lot of mistakes myself in the past. But clearly, I’ve done the things to right that s**t I did a long time ago. I’ve got a DUI twice, been in car accidents and arrested. When I was a young kid, I was wild. The difference is that I’ve learned from my mistakes and turned it around. I think Dana (White) said it perfectly: ‘It wasn’t shocking.’ I wasn’t shocked when someone sent me a tweet. It’s sad at this point.”

Smith joins a chorus of other notable UFC personalities to weigh in on Jones’ recent controversy. UFC president Dana White flatly declared that Jones “has a lot of demons.” Former rival Daniel Cormier echoed Smith’s sentiment that “Jones obviously doesn’t learn from the mistakes.” While Chael Sonnen believes that Jon will only reform once he’s appropriately punished by having his UFC contract torn up.

Long-time agitator Israel Adesanya was predictably far less measured in his criticisms, boldly speculating that Jones’ recent instance of domestic violence wasn’t “the first time this has happened in his house.”

Chael Sonnen Lays Out What Jon Jones’ Punishment Should Be

ESPN analyst Chael Sonnen is not short on words when it comes to the latest arrest of former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

On September 24, one day before UFC 266 kicked off in Las Vegas for international fight week, Jon Jones was reportedly arrested for battery domestic violence and injuring/tampering with a vehicle. Of course, this came just around twelve hours after Jones and Alexander Gustafsson had their 2013 war etched into the UFC Hall of Fame. Often criticized for being unable to get away from his own shadow, Jones’ latest behavior is in violation of the UFC’s code of conduct.

While some have questioned whether Jones should remain in the UFC altogether, it seems Chael Sonnen believes that may prove ineffective in pushing Jones. Sonnen spoke on his YouTube channel explaining what the correct punishment should be for Jon Jones’ latest infraction.

“If Jon were to be released, I understand his value would diminish tremendously. His value is only worth whatever the market brings. If the biggest player goes out, your market comes down. All the same, you’re back to being active,” Sonnen explained in a recent video.

“A bigger punishment, in some ways, is to keep him doing what he’s doing right now. He does not have a sponsor to speak of. He does not have a paycheck of any kind coming in. He does not have an active license. He does not have a contract, something to look forward to.” Sonnen said.

After the felonious behavior of Jones, the UFC has yet to take formal action and is still waiting on legal proceedings to finish. In the meantime, with their current standing, Jones is still contracted to fight in the UFC. As the “Bones” arrest story continues to unfold, MMANews.com will keep you up to date and notified if the UFC decides to take any sort of disciplinary action.

Israel Adesanya is not holding back on Jon Jones amidst his recent run-in with the law.

Adesanya and Jones have a bit of history, dating back before Jon vacated the light heavyweight title for a heavyweight move and before Izzy tried to capture a second title. There was even talk about the two fighting each other, especially after they constantly traded trash talk, but it seems like this is far from happening at this point in both men’s careers and lives.

Therefore, it comes as little surprise to hear that the UFC middleweight champ was not afraid to lash out at the former light heavyweight king after Jones was recently arrested for domestic assault and tampering with a vehicle. Izzy posted to his Twitter, sharing Jon’s mug shot as well as some of the more concerning details outlined in the recently released police report, before explaining that he did not feel like this was the first time an incident like this has happened.

“I’m sure y’all will give him “one more chance” lol. I swear I said he’s gonna fuck up again, he can’t help it. Now here we are. I’ve made mistakes in my time, I learn from them. I don’t think this is the first time this has happened in his house. But yea…posi vibez goiz ??,” Adesanya wrote, before adding in another tweet:

“It’s called ‘Stockholm syndrome’.”

It is not surprising to see Israel Adesanya taking this opportunity to bury Jon Jones, given how much these two do not like each other. That being said, it is important to remember that no matter what the police report said, he is innocent until proven guilty.

After Jon Jones was reportedly arrested last week, UFC color analyst Michael Bisping believes that Jones is a nice person but stuck making continuous bad choices.

Hours after the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony concluded, Jon Jones was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada. The former light heavyweight champion was charged with battery domestic violence, and tampering with a vehicle exceeding damages of $5,000 in value. The arrest was made in the early hours of Friday morning (Sept. 24, 2021), and Jones has since posted bail. “The Count” released a video on YouTube discussing Jon Jones’ situation.

“And I’m not here to sh** on Jon Jones. I have tremendous respect for his accomplishments inside the octagon. And most of the time when I’ve spoken to Jon, my interactions have been fantastic. I saw him just recently in Vegas, and we stopped, and we shared a picture, and we had a laugh, and we spoke for a few minutes. And I wish him all the best. He’s a good person, but he’s just making some bad choices.”

Jon Jones has a long and convoluted history with law enforcement. However, a domestic assault battery conviction can carry heavy consequences for Jones’ name beyond a misdemeanor charge. Bisping fears that the charge might indicate that an altercation between “Bones” and a female took place. If that is indeed the case, the former middleweight champ finds the behavior downright deplorable.

“And I don’t know the story. Now, of course, the charge is domestic battery, right? So, that alludes to, unfortunately, you know, maybe assault on a woman. I will say this; we don’t know the details. But a man, certainly a man like Jon Jones – a large man, and who’s also one of the greatest of all time, if not the GOAT, of mixed martial arts, has absolutely no place hitting a woman. And if that is what happened, then it’s deplorable, and there’s no excuse. Bisping stated. I’ve never done it. I would never dream of putting my hands on another woman. And Jon Jones shouldn’t be doing the same.”

Without knowing all of the details and jumping to conclusions, Bisping gave his point of view without condemning or vindicating Jones. Moments ago, additional details behind the Jones arrest were revealed, with the former light heavyweight king allegedly pulling the hair of a woman and headbutting a police vehicle.

As the latest Jon Jones arrest story unravels, MMANews.com will keep you on the pulse should any new details emerge about this wild case.

Jon Jones’ latest run in with the law didn’t come as a shock to UFC President Dana White.

The former light heavyweight champ was arrested in Las Vegas early Friday morning just hours after he was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his first fight with Alexander Gustafsson. Officer Larry Hadfield of the Las Vegas Metro PD told ESPN that Jones is being charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle, a felony.

Speaking to media backstage at the 2021 UFC Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony, Jones seemed in good spirits as he discussed his plans for 2022. He even joked about upping his self-promotion game by doing “more legally controversial shit” once he makes his return as a heavyweight.

Dana White On Jones Arrest: “It’s Not Even Shocking Anymore”

All of Jones’ much anticipated plans now appear to be dashed by his latest legal escapade, and it’s one that Dana White isn’t remotely surprised by.

Speaking to media, White placed some of the blame for Jones’ arrest on his troubled history with Sin City itself.

“It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas for any reason. This city is not good for Jon Jones, here we are again,” said White (h/t BJPENN.COM). “It’s like it’s not even shocking anymore, when we bring him here it’s almost expected. You can’t even get him into Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame, it’s a problem. This guy has a lot of demons, man, a lot of demons.”

Jones is expected to front Las Vegas Justice Court on Saturday at 1:30 PM.

More details regarding this arrest are expected shortly, so we will keep you updated on this breaking story.
