Former UFC light heavyweight champion and former pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones will likely return to action this upcoming July after serving out a year long suspension due to a failed drug test surrounding his scheduled UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) rematch with Daniel Cormier, which he was pulled from just days prior to the event.

When Jones does indeed make his return, he’ll likely receive an immediate title shot and if he finds his way back to the top of the 205-pound class, few fights will remain him. Jones has come dangerously close to cleaning out light heavyweight and a potential jump to heavyweight has been discussed because of that.

In fact, “Bones” recently told Joe Rogan that he still wants to challenge for the heavyweight strap:

“I do want to challenge for the heavyweight title, but I’m waiting for the perfect opponent,” Jones said. “I’ve beaten up a lot of heavyweights, man. Only people who train at (Jackson-Wink MMA) have seen that. I’ve picked up a lot of heavyweights. I’ve slammed a lot of heavyweights.”

“I know that I’m capable. I just want to make sure I compete against the right stylistic matchup for me when I go to heavyweight and challenge for that title.”

Jones has always been a large 205 pounder, but he said that he wouldn’t bulk up too much to compete at heavyweight:

“(At heavyweight) I’ll fight right around 230. I’ll try to eat a lot and make sure my endurance and speed is where it needs to be.”

Would you like to see “Bones” test his hand at heavyweight at some point next year?

Jon Jones Says He Would Be “Challenge Of A Lifetime” For Stipe Miocic

Former longtime UFC light heavyweight champion and former pound-for-pound king Jon Jones is currently dealing with a possible anti-doping violation that forced him to be pulled from his scheduled UFC 200 (July 9, 2016) title fight with bitter rival and current champion Daniel “DC” Cormier. The situation has yet to be resolved, but “Bones” has hinted that positive news could be coming. If the ex-champion does indeed avoid a two-year suspension, he’d likely return to the 205-pound division where he appears to have some unfinished business, but he may not remain there forever.

In fact, Jones has teased a possible jump to heavyweight in the past, and it could be a very realistic possibility. “Bones”, when he does fight, has come dangerously close to cleaning out the light heavyweight class, and he also has the size to compete at heavyweight.

If he were to indeed make the move up, he’d likely find himself in a huge right off the bat, and he recently touched on a potential title fight with reigning champion Stipe Miocic on his official Twitter account. When asked about the possible scenario, “Bones” said that he’d be the ‘challenge of a lifetime’ for Miocic:

The reigning heavyweight king secured the title with a brutal first round knockout over Fabricio Werdum last May. He followed that performance up with another first round stoppage over Alistair Overeem in his first title defense this past weekend (September 10, 2016) at UFC 203.

Would you like to see Jones and Miocic one day do battle in the Octagon?

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, current interim light heavyweight champion, and reining pound-for-pound king Jon “Bones” Jones is widely considered to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all-time, or at least his name is constantly thrown into that discussion. In fact, “Bones” may very well be close to cleaning out the 205-pound division.

The ex-champion is planning to recapture the title he never technically lost when he meets Daniel Cormier at July 9’s UFC 200, and after that he hopes to rematch Alexander Gustafsson and face off with feared striker Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

If Jones can come out of those three fights victorious, a move to heavyweight has long been a possibility, although he recently pulled back a bit on that idea. “DC” recently touched on this possibility, saying that Jones would do ‘fine’ at heavyweight, although the former Olympian added that “Bones” would have serious trouble against one man.

Taking to his official Twitter account, Cormier said that his teammate and former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez would beat Jones ’10 out of 10’ times, and that he would hold a boxing advantage over the pound-for-pound king:

Velasquez is set to return at UFC 200 as well to take on Travis Browne after losing his title in June 2015. Cormier even went as far to say that Velasquez would get the best of him if the two were to ever fight for real:

How would you see a potential clash between Jones and Velasquez playing out?

After a long and rigorous battle that has spanned many unnecessary years, mixed martial arts has finally been legalized in the state of New York.

Assembly Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle announced yesterday (March 22, 2016) the passing of the bill to legalize the sport in the Empire State, an announcement beneficial to all major MMA promotions, but specifically the UFC, which has heavily pushed for the passing of the bill since 2007.

UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta has already confirmed that the promotion is looking to bring an event to New York before the close of 2016.

While he couldn’t confirm that the first appearance would be at New York’s infamous Madison Square Garden, he did say that when the UFC does indeed come to MSG, it will be massive.

With that being said, let’s take a look at some possible headliners for the UFC’s MSG Debut:
