Quinton Jackson recently shared how he cleverly exposed a spy allegedly sent by Jon Jones to his fight camp by faking an injury to flush them out.

Jackson took on Jones for the light heavyweight title at UFC 135 in September 2011, but his efforts fell short as he was submitted in the fourth round. Despite being thoroughly outmatched in the bout, “Rampage” later criticized Jones for his fighting style and his tendency to extend his fingers during exchanges, a habit that has unintentionally resulted in eye pokes for several of his opponents.

However, in the lead-up to their fight, Jackson stirred the MMA world by claiming that “Bones” had planted a spy in his camp to gather intel on him. To test his suspicions, Jackson fabricated a story and let the word out that he had a hand injury…

Jackson on Jones Reportedly Planting A Spy: ‘It was Somebody That Worked For MusclePharm’

During a recent episode of his JAXXON Podcast, “Rampage” revealed that Jones was allegedly in contact with someone from his supplement sponsor, MusclePharm, to spy on his fight camp. The former UFC light heavyweight champion recounted how he began to suspect that his every move was being monitored, so he devised a plan.

He faked an injury and shared the news only with his Team Wolfslair, yet somehow, the information still leaked to the public.

“He had a spy in my camp; it was somebody that worked for MusclePharm that was cool with him,” Jackson said. “He would come there and watch me train and stuff, and I don’t know—I can’t remember how I found out that somebody was watching me. Maybe some sh*t he was saying online, so I faked the injury, and I didn’t tell anybody. I told my tight team, ‘I think Jon Jones has a spy in my camp,’ so I faked the injury and didn’t say anything, and then it got out in the press.”

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports in August 2011, Jackson revealed that just hours after planting the fake news, his manager received a call from then-UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, who was eager to find out what had happened.

As Jackson anticipated, the response was swift and telling: Silva mentioned that Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, had reached out. Although Jackson has never produced any concrete evidence to support his claims, “Bones” once playfully admitted to planting a spy in his opponent’s camp.

‘He Was Out of PEDs’: Jon Jones Accused of Dodging Rematch After His Only MMA Loss

Jon Jones Matt Hamil Dana White

Jon Jones was recently accused of dodging a rematch with the only opponent who has been able to hand him a loss in mixed martial arts. The man’s name is Matt Hamil, and he only handed Jones that loss because he was awarded the win for receiving an illegal 12-6 elbow.

Jon Jones decimated Hamil in that fight, as he did to everybody until that fateful night with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165. Jones is undefeated despite that single loss on his record to Hamil. It’s ironic because a few of Jon Jones’ decision wins over fighters such as Gustafsson, Thiago Silva, and Dominick Reyes are incredibly controversial. Should Jon Jones’ record be 27-1 as it currently stands? Or, 25-3, or 24-4?

The controversy behind Jones’ record is similar to the controversy that surrounds him as a person. For years, Jones presented himself as an innocent Christian man. A humble mixed martial artist, if you would. And then, the charges began rolling in. The hit-and-run on the pregnant woman was a little wild. And then you had all the cocaine and PED allegations. The rumor that Jones hid under the Octagon in his gym to avoid USADA officials who were going to drug test him (a story later confirmed by Jones himself). Suddenly, you are left with an enigma: who is Jon Jones, and what should his record look like?

Matt Hamil ridicules Jon jones for never running it back with him in a rematch

The only man to officially have delivered a loss to Jon Jones is actually bummed out that he never got a rematch and had the honor to lose to Jones, which is what would’ve happened if he wasn’t saved by that illegal elbow and DQ victory in the first place.

Replying to a fan’s Facebook comment, Matt Hamil himself took a moment to ridicule his former adversary and poke fun at Jones’s controversial life and MMA record.

“No worries,” Hamill replied to a user claiming Jones can’t be a GOAT because of his unclean record. “He lost to me. He refused to have a rematch. I guess he was out of PEDs. That’s a bummer.” (H/T MMA Knockout)

Furthermore, the hilarity doesn’t stop. Hamil made an Instagram post where he tagged UFC President Dana White and tried convincing White that a rematch for the heavyweight title makes sense. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.

“Let’s cut this chase…” Hamil began on Instagram, using perfect spelling and grammar. “@danawhite – I know you’re desperate to get @jonnybones an undefeated record. I see how you want to profit from that! Is also why you bail him out of all the other things…How about a rematch?! I’ll be happy to fight him for a heavyweight title. If I beat him, I want a UFC belt. Let me know if Stipe Miocic backs out. I’ll take short notice, just remember he already lost to me!”

What do you think Matt Hamil is smoking for him to believe that a rematch against Jon Jones for a heavyweight title makes any sense at all?

Jon Jones comfortable with legacy, declines Tom Aspinall fight: 'I’ll leave you with blue balls'

Amid his bold comments aimed at fellow heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall ahead of his own expected return at UFC 309 later this year, Jon Jones appears comfortable in his expected decision to avoid a title unification clash with the British favorite.

Jones, a former two-time light heavyweight champion and a current heavyweight gold holder, has been sidelined since he made his divisional bow a weight class higher back in March of last year, submitting Ciryl Gane with a dominant opening round guillotine choke submission win.

As for Atherton native, Aspinall, the current interim champion co-headlined UFC 304 back in July, defending that crown in a dominant first round knockout win over Curtis Blaydes, avenging his sole defeat in the promotion to boot in an impressive stoppage win.

And earlier this week, Rochester native, Jones appeared to reach tipping point on his rivalry with the British fighter, aiming some vulgar comments in his direction on social media.

“This dude (Tom Aspinall) literally has my large black c*ck in his mouth every week,” Jon Jones posted in the comments section on his official Instagram account. “I’m flattered. I absolutely guarantee he will not win more world championships than me. That’s truly all that matters at the end of the day. There’s been many champions, no one like me. I sleep good at night.”

And over the course of the weekend, former pound-for-pound number one, Jones claimed he would likely leave Aspinall “blue-balled” and would skirt a desired title unification showdown after he returns against Miocic in November at Madison Square Garden.

“Maybe I’ll leave you with blue balls, but my legacy will be just fine,” Jon Jones posted on his official X account. “I’ve done way too much work in this game. There’s people around the world that’s been watching me fight since they can remember. He would have to go on and win like 10 championships at least in order for that to happen. The work I put in, that body of work ain’t getting touch no time soon.”

When Dana White claimed Jon Jones should be scared of Francis Ngannou

Footage has once more reemerged of UFC CEO, Dana White singing the praise of former heavyweight titleholder, Francis Ngannou ahead of a long-mooted fight with Jon Jones — before switching his tune on the pairing following the Cameroonian’s exit from the promotion at the beginning of last year.

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion and a current heavyweight gold holder, is all but set to headline UFC 309 at the end of the year in November — taking on the returning soon-to-be common-foe, Stipe Miocic at Madison Square Garden.

Francis Ngannou on fighting through grief: ‘This is for my son’

As for Ngannou, the former undisputed UFC heavyweight gold holder has been sidelined from mixed martial arts since January of 2022, most recently successfully unifying the heavyweight crowns with an impressive unanimous decision win over the then-unbeaten common-opponent, Ciryl Gane.

Departing the promotion in January of last year, Batie native, Francis Ngannou is now slated to make his long-anticipated PFL (Professional Fighters League) debut in two months time in Riyadh, taking on heavyweight star, Renan Ferreira in a blockbuster showdown.

Dana White once picked Francis Ngannou to beat Jon Jones before UFC exit

However, amid continued links to a future grudge title fight between Jones and Ngannou down the line — footage has once more emerged of UFC boss, White heaping praise on his former undisputed champion, Ngannou — after urging Jones to pursue a middleweight drop.

If I’m Jon Jones, and I’m watching this fight [Stipe MIocic vs. Francis Ngannou 2], then I’m moving to 185 [pounds],” Dana White told assembled media three years ago. “I could sit here all day and tell you what show me the money means. You can say you want to fight somebody, but do you really want to?”

Those comments from White provide a stark difference in his take on the failed matchup today — boldly claiming that Ngannou would not agree to fight Jones in a heavyweight title fight, despite touting the Cameroonian as a terrible matchup for the former pound-for-pound number one.

In recent weeks to boot, Jones has been cast as the best fighter to ever compete in combat sports across the board ahead of his expected title fight comeback at UFC 309 — in a bid to promote the former two-weight titleholder.

Although Jon Jones will most likely be booked to fight Stipe Miocic next, his rivalry with Tom Aspinall is also heating up on the sidelines. The interim UFC heavyweight champion is eager to unify the belts, requiring him to face the winner of Jones vs. Miocic.

Aspinall has bagged 15 wins since turning pro in MMA, and all of them have been stoppages via KO or submission. On top of that, he’s finished all but one fight in the UFC in the first round. This explains why fans consider him to be Jones’ real test instead of Miocic, who hasn’t fought since losing to Francis Ngannou in 2021.

Aspinall has looked unstoppable till now, but Chael Sonnen has concerns about him not being tested enough in the Octagon yet…

Chael Sonnen Highlights Striking Similarities In Early UFC Careers Of Tom Aspinall And Ronda Rousey

Sonnen discussed the rivalry between Aspinall and Jones on his YouTube channel recently. He believes that the interim champ bringing up the undisputed kingpin’s past PED usage was bound to rub the latter the wrong way.

“The American Gangster” then stated that a fight between “Bones” and Aspinall, if it happens, will likely be scheduled for UFC International Fight Week in 2025. It might be hard for Aspinall to get an opponent during this time as the interim champ, and his inactivity would work in favor of the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

Sonnen also revealed the downside of Aspinall firing through the competition with such ease so far. His rise to the top resembles Ronda Rousey, who had 11 first-round finishes in her pro career, including five in the UFC.

“I’m not sure you understand that. That is not helpful, that is not a good thing. It looks good and it sounds good, it’s not good! When you find yourself in a fight harder than you’re used to, it’s a problem for everybody. It is the number one reason that Ronda lost to Holly Holm. It was not the right leg kick. It was because the six other girls that Ronda had been in there with checked out collectively in a shorter time than Holly had made it. That was the problem. It’s a problem for everyone. There’s nothing you can do about it.”

According to the former UFC middleweight title contender, Rousey lost to Holly Holm because she wasn’t used to opponents surviving her initial onslaught. As soon as someone put her to the test, she was overwhelmed and it all came crashing down.

Sonnen fears that Aspinall might have similar problems if he takes on an opponent as durable and experienced as Jones. For now, though, there is no way to confirm whether we’ll ever see the two meet in the Octagon.

The UFC heavyweight division has been a hot topic in MMA circles lately. Dana White is adamant about booking current champ Jon Jones against Stipe Miocic in 2024. On the flip side, fans seem more interested in seeing “Bones” take on Tom Aspinall who defended his interim belt against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 via first-round TKO.

Jones has yet to defend his UFC heavyweight championship since beating Ciryl Gane for it in March 2023. A shoulder injury forced him out of action for almost a year, and the delay in his return has led to many opposing Miocic getting a title shot despite not fighting in over three years.

Although there’s no guarantee that it will happen, Frank Mir has picked Jones to beat Aspinall if they ever fight in the UFC…

Frank Mir Believes Jon Jones Has A 90% Chance Of Beating Tom Aspinall In The UFC Heavyweight Division

Mir discussed a potential fight between Jones and Aspinall on the talkSPORT MMA YouTube channel recently. He acknowledged that the English heavyweight is quite skilled but just doesn’t see him beating the UFC light heavyweight GOAT in the next 12 months.

“Jon’s the GOAT of our sport right now. I get that Tom, and I totally don’t blame him. I would do everything if I was Tom Aspinall. I would do everything I possibly could, maybe show up at his house, get him pissed enough to take that fight because that could just catapult his career.”

The former UFC heavyweight champ believes that Aspinall won’t be able to submit or even take down Jones due to the latter’s superior wrestling. He backed this claim by mentioning Jones’ two wins over Daniel Cormier, arguably one of the best wrestlers to ever fight in the UFC.

“If you said, put my money down on it. If they fought this year or fought within 12 months from now, from what I know training with Jon, from what I’ve seen from Tom, I think Jon has about a 70 to 80, 90% chance of winning the fight.”

“If Tom closes distance, he’s never submitting Jon. And, Jon outwrestles him absolutely. They had a take down contest, he can’t take Jon down one time, zero. Absolutely zero. Jon’s wrestling is unreal. If Jon had gone a different path in life, and maybe had not problem in school, he would have absolutely been the Olympic world champion at wrestling, you know. That’s just the part of me. He outwrestled Cormier, you know what I mean? Cormier’s accolades in wrestling are through the roof.”

Mir added that Aspinall’s explosive and fast striking, especially for a heavyweight, could be his only way to victory against Jones. He remembered the likes of Vitor Belfort and Dominick Reyes who had success against “Bones” due to their speed advantage in striking exchanges.

Interestingly, former rival Quinton “Rampage” Jackson also favored Jones to win against Aspinall for similar reasons in a recent interview with Inside Fighting. The former UFC light heavyweight kingpin praised the interim UFC heavyweight champ’s skills but doesn’t think it’ll be enough for him to unify the title against the current undisputed champion.
