Bleacher Report learned from someone close to the situation that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been juicing ahead of his first title defense, against Quinton Jackson at UFC 135 this Saturday. That person would be Jones himself, and he invited me and my camera to his house to watch.

It turns out this was Jon’s first attempt at making his own juice, aka juicing. He was doing so based on the advice of the Jackson-Winkeljohn team chiropractor, Todd Pickman of Gonstead Family Chiropractic in Albuquerque. The champ attempted to get Pickman on the phone for me, but he was busy tending to Brian Stann, who could be heard in the background saying, “Every injury I have I blame on Jonny Jones.”

We juiced, we drank and it was good. Jones reported feeling the potency of it with his first sip. “I really think this is going to give me the edge against Rampage,” he said.

Jones has been tweeting about juice ever since, and even arranged to have a juicer at his hotel in Denver. So if you happen to see Bert “the UFC’s busiest man” Watson pushing a shopping cart full of vegetables around Whole Foods in Denver, now you know why.

Later, I caught up with Dr. Pickman by phone, who explained the theory behind the champ’s juicing regimen.

“Jon had asked me casually about eating and what I would recommend for him to do that would give him any benefit in terms of energy and endurance. I said if you’re like most people you haven’t eaten enough raw vegetables and he agreed.”

“He eats a high protein high meat diet and doesn’t get enough of the micronutrients you can get from raw veggies. Dark green leafy vegetables have more B vitamins, calcium, folate, iron….

“The mixture I recommended is mostly green leafy vegetables like kale, spinach and chard, plus beets, carrots, ginger and a little apple and lemon for flavor.”

“I’ve been talking to Jon almost daily. He says he has more energy and feels better.”

Jones’ juice may not be anabolic, but at least you can get it in this country and it’s legal in the eyes of every state athletic commission. And in the long run, it’s probably a whole lot better for you than the other stuff.

On September 24, Jon Jones will be making the first defense of his light heavyweight title when he squares off against former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson at UFC 135.

In the co-main event of the evening, former welterweight champion Matt Hughes may be making his last appearance inside the Octagon when he faces The Ultimate Fighter season one standout, and former welterweight title challenger, Josh Koscheck.

Other action on the pay-per-view portion of the event will feature former Pride champion Takanori Gomi against Nate Diaz, the undefeated Travis Browne will face Rob Broughton, and heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Mark Hunt will kick off the show.

It is always fun to look ahead at all the different ways fights can go down. But with this fight card, the outcomes seem a little more clear cut than others in recent memory. Granted, anyone can get caught in a submission or clipped on the chin, but seeing something that defies the odds this Saturday seems highly unlikely.

So how are the main card fights going to go down in Denver, CO? Read on to find out.

Video: This Jon Jones/Rampage Jackson Double Booking Stuff is Getting Ridiculous

Following suit with their dual appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and trusty sidekick Quinton “Rampage” Jackson appeared together on FuelTV‘s Late Show the other night. Rampage broke the tension in typical fashion, by dry humping the closest object to him, in this case Parks and Recreation cast member Alison Becker. It really makes you wonder what Rampage does to keep himself entertained while backstage at all these media appearances. Watch your back, Bones.

Rampage: [on Jones’ legs] “They look like a couple of burnt toothpicks”

Rampage: [on playing the underdog] “I’m glad to be the underdog. I was the underdog when I won the belt the first time. When I’m expected to win…like in my last fight I wasn’t motivated at all.”

Jones: [on rumors of a spy in Jackson’s camp] “Oh I definitely have a spy in his camp…to be honest it’s his chef, so I know what he’s eating, what time he’s eating, his PJ’s…”

Thank God we can finally put these rumors to rest. But now that Bones has admitted to going all Angelina Jolie in Salt on Jackson’s chef, the question is, when will he start unleashing the “stank bref” jokes on the master?

UFC 135 Gambling Alert: Jon Jones Is a 5-1 Favorite Over Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson

(Deal with it. Photo via @jonnybones)

Want to make sure cash this Saturday betting on UFC 135? One word of advice — you won’t get rich betting on Jon Jones. According to the latest gambling lines, Jones is a 5-1 favorite or greater against Quinton Jackson on all the major betting websites. BetUS and Sportsbook.ag have him at 6-1, and Bodog is crazy enough to set the line at an alarming 7-1.

When the odds were first released four months ago, Jones was around a 3-1 favorite, but the vast majority of wagers have poured in on the young light-heavyweight champion since then, inflating the line astronomically. It’s a classic economic bubble — unsteady, unprofitable, and worth staying away from. The good news is, if you think Rampage has a chance to get his belt back, now’s your time to jump; a $100 bet would return a profit of $350-$450, depending on where you lay your money.

To be honest, every single fight on UFC 135’s main card is a blowout, in terms of gambling lines. The closest match is Nate Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi, and even there, Diaz is more than a 2-1 favorite — which might make Gomi the smartest ‘dog wager on the card. Check out the lines after the jump and let us know what you think.

UFC 135 Live Streaming: Jones vs. Rampage Is Perfect Headliner for UFC 135

As with every UFC event, the level of quality should be fantastic from all fighters involved, and to miss the action would be foolish. If you want to stream the PPV online to watch it, UFC has built a UFC 135 Live Streaming page to show you how you can get the show.

The headlining fight of UFC 135 should be one of the most exciting bouts of the year, and it features defending Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones taking on veteran fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

While Jones has been known as a relatively humble fighter, Rampage has brought out the arrogance that every fighter needs to posses to be a great champion.

As the heat from the trash talking increases, so will the hype for this fight, and the war of words will escalate into an all-out brawl at UFC 135.

Jones told the Vancouver Sun about having to back up his trash talk against Rampage:

It definitely makes me fight better. The only reason it makes me fight better is because it makes me prepare better. I realize every quote I make, I’ve got to back it up. That’s why I try to not insult my opponent and say things that I only think will be true.

The usually quiet fighter knows what Rampage tries to do mentally to his opponents, and just like in the ring, Jones is prepared for anything and everything that his opponent will try on him.

While Rampage was initially thrown off by Jones attitude, he realizes that the smart, young fighter is trying not to tip his hand before the fight. Jackson knows this Jones kid is the real deal, but he knows that there isn’t a fighter Jones faced that has what Rampage has.

Rampage talked to the Vancouver Sun about Jones lack of experience, and the fact that he hasn’t fought someone like Jackson before:

I basically looked at the fight, my teammates looked at it and saw he ain’t really fought anyone like me. Everybody’s counting me out and it’s making me more and more confident. I’m going to relieve of him of his first loss. I’m going to be the person to give him the first (expletive)-whooping, so he can go on to be the great fighter that I know he can be.

Rampage is so much smarter than people give him credit for, and his statement is 100 percent right. Many people question Jones’ ability to take on a hard striker that isn’t afraid of him, and beating Rampage would catapult him into the mainstream lexicon.

With UFC 135 just days away, I can’t wait to see this fight and all of the stellar undercard specials.
