There’s a ton of hype for mixed martial arts (MMA) fans heading into the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) event in November.

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will go head-to-head after the former called “Gamebred” out at UFC 241 after a victory over Anthony Pettis. Now, Masvidal and Diaz headline the Madison Square Garden card.

However, the most important aspect of the fight for Masvidal is his paycheck, which he tells ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on “The Ariel Helwani MMA Show,” will make heads pop when his numbers are revealed.

“I’m getting paid and not played, that’s for sure,” Masvidal said. “Listen, your boy is happy, man. They took care of me, man. And now here we go, because there’s going to be a lot of bitches coming out, saying – and when I mean bitches, I’m never talking about my female listeners, fans, or anybody – no.

It’s particular individuals that are bitches, that are attention whores, that are very salty individuals, they’re already salty. But when these numbers come out, man, some heads are going to pop.”

Masvidal has certainly earned the payday. The longtime veteran is on a two-fight vicious knockout streak over the likes of Ben Askren and Darren Till. His win over Askren earlier this year is the fastest in UFC history at five seconds, as he caught “Funky” with a flying knee on an immediate takedown attempt.

He’ll take on Diaz, who returned after a three-year layoff to trounce a former lightweight champion. The winner could very well be next in line to challenge for the 170-pound strap.

What do you think about Masvidal claiming heads will pop when his UFC 244 pay is revealed?

Expect violent things when Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Justin Gaethje lock horns in the UFC Vancouver main event this weekend (Sat. September 14, 2019).

The lightweights are actually good friends with one another, and former training partners as well. Cerrone recently spoke with The Score to get his thoughts on the upcoming fight. Cerrone discussed his history with Gaethje. He noted they’re still good friends and were drinking poolside together during International Fight Week.

However, as training partners, they grew apart, as Gaethje still trains with the gym that used to coach Cerrone.

“He’s my buddy,” Cerrone said. “I hung out with him in Vegas during International Fight Week. We just drank beer at the pool all weekend. He’s like my friend. Trained a lot together. Obviously, we’ve grown apart training-wise, he trains somewhere different, probably the same guy I used to train with back in the day. But it should be fun.”

The matchup between Cerrone and Gaethje is likely going to be a standing affair, for the most part. However, Cerrone is very skilled on the ground with his submissions. When asked if he would like to be the first man to hand Gaethje a submission loss, Cerrone said he’d love to.

But he also recognizes Gaethje has a solid wrestling background, so holding him down might not be as easy as many think.

“You know, of course,” Cerrone said. “But he has such a good wrestling background and base that getting to the ground and holding him down will be tough. So we’ll see if he gets tired, and how easy it is.”

Cerrone was then asked for his prediction for the upcoming fan-favorite welterweight clash between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. The pair will headline the UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) from New York City. Cerrone revealed he’s picking the “more well-rounded” Masvidal to leave MSG victorious.

“I’m going with Masvidal,” Cerrone said. “I just think he’s more well-rounded. But Diaz is good too. He’s going to be right there with the boxing and the conditioning all day long, so we’ll see, man.”

What do you make of Cerrone’s pick for Masvidal vs. Diaz? And how do you see his fight with Gaethje playing out?

Colby Covington and a few members of American Top Team (ATT) — Jorge Masvidal and Dustin Poirier — are not getting along.

“Chaos” has been taking shots at both Masvidal and Poirier, and the two fired right back at Covington. It got to the point where “The Diamond” said it is ‘on sight’ if he sees Covington at the gym.

Now, Colby Covington believes there could be a brawl at ATT with everything that is going on.

“Things are definitely going to be weird,” Covington said to Chael Sonnen of the atmosphere at American Top Team (h/t BJPENN.com). “It comes out of jealousy and bitterness, Uncle Chael. These guys are wishing they could do what I do and they’re mad at where I’m at and what I do for a living. They wish they could make the pay checks. There is going to be a little jealously. There might be a brawl at ATT. We might come to blows. I’m prepared for anything.”

If there is a fight at ATT between Colby Covington, Jorge Masvidal, and Dustin Poirier, “Chaos” is more than confident he wins those fights. He has trashed “Gamebred” as a .500 fighter and a journeyman fighter while saying Poirier can’t stuff a takedown for the life of him.

“These guys are talking a lot but they know what would happen if they stepped to me,” he said. “I’d beat their asses. I’m not to worried about them. They’ve got to worry about me.”

What do you make of Colby Covington’s comments saying there could be a brawl at ATT?
