Justin Gaethje is not done going after Conor McGregor.

Earlier this week, he had tweeted the following:

“You’re a tool. You have lost everything already. You are a shit human, father, and husband. F*ck you.”

Now, after open workouts at UFC Vancouver, Gaethje doubled down on his comments towards the Irishman.

“I will never stray from the truth,” Justin Gaethje said (via BJPENN.com). “That’s the truth. There’s nothing else to it. It had nothing to do with fighting, nothing to do with wanting to get a fight. He wants to write some bulls**t? Facts are facts! You cannot represent yourself in the public eye like that and expect your child to respect what you do. You are an influence. You are a hero to your children and you are a fool if you don’t think they are going to follow in your footsteps.

There is no question Justin Gaethje does not like Conor McGregor. Yet, if he wins this fight against Donald Cerrone, he wants to fight for the title. But, if the Irishman wants to return, Gaethje wants that fight.

“I’ll take the winner of Khabib and Tony and if that guy, that little Irish f**k wants to come back then I’m right here, man. I’m the perfect guy to bring him back,” he said.

The two were reportedly close to fighting in July, according to McGregor. However, Justin Gaethje never knew anything about it and believes it was all just talk.

“He’s the only one that knew about that,” Justin Gaethje said. “I didn’t know. I’m ready to fight. After I’ve seen him punch an old guy… I’ve got a human services major. I wanted to do social work. Being here is just a circumstance of my life. I’ve worked since I was 4 and I wanted to try fighting. I won 25 fights in a row and I was fighting Eddie Alvarez on a pay-per-view.

“I wanted to be a social worker and to see him treat people like that, to see him… even before he took someone’s phone and smashed it on the ground, to see him walking around with his chest in the air, you do not represent yourself like that. I will never respect you.”

Justin Gaethje vs. Donald Cerrone nearly didn’t happen.

The two are set to scrap in the main event of UFC Vancouver this Saturday in what promises to be an entertaining fight. Yet, after his open workout, Justin Gaethje spoke to reported and revealed he was close to pulling out of the bout due to an eye injury.

“I’ll be honest to everyone, I’m wearing these sunglasses because I almost didn’t make it to this fight,” Gaethje said (via MMA Fighting). “I had an eye infection and I’m through that now and I just got off the plane about an hour and a half ago and I came straight here because I was not gonna miss this opportunity to work out and get the blood flowing and get my mind into fight week. So these lights are super bright, but I’m 100 percent ready to go.

“I’ve fought blind my whole life, so unless my eyes are cut out I’m fighting.”

Justin Gaethje did not reveal what caused the eye infection but explained why he was wearing the sunglasses.

“I’m seeing drastic improvements every day. This is just a precaution,” Gaethje said of his sunglasses. “I wanted to keep my eyes open for you guys.”

Ultimately, Justin Gaethje knows the importance of this fight and wants to have this fight happen. He knows this fight will end by knockout and assures he will make the walk to the Octagon.

“I’ve seen many doctors,” Gaethje said. “I’m cleared and I’m ready to go.”

How this eye infection will impact his performance is unknown.

Should he come away victorious this weekend, Justin Gaethje will only accept two opponents for his next fight.

Gaethje meets Donald Cerrone in the UFC Vancouver headliner on Saturday. A win over the veteran would make it three in a row and almost certainly guarantee Gaethje getting the next shot at the title.

And that is what “The Highlight” plans on doing. Of course, Tony Ferguson is clearly next in line and has proposed facing Khabib Nurmagomedov in December. And so, Gaethje plans on fighting the winner of that bout next. The only reason he would not fight for the title is if it was against Conor McGregor:

“I think there’s two options for me — whoever wins [Khabib Nurmagomedov] against Tony or I fight Conor [McGregor],” Gaethje told MMA Fighting. “Those are the two options I’ll be looking at when I’m done.”

McGregor mentioned Gaethje as a potential comeback opponent earlier this year until he broke his hand. As for Gaethje, he was not aware about any such fight:

“I have no idea how close it was,” Gaethje added. “I’m sure the UFC was really hounding him to fight. He probably said he was going to fight. He probably said he would fight me and then he probably broke his hand before I found out is what I’m guessing or it’s just not true.”

What is for sure is a fight with the Irishman would definitely be heated, especially after Gaethje went off on him for wanting a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The former WSOF champion also believes McGregor would have a tough time against anyone in the top five of the division:

“We’re the best in the world right now,” Gaethje explained. “Nobody is getting out of there easy in the top five or top 10 unless you’re fighting Al [Iaquinta] or f—king [Paul] Felder. That’s your only way out.”

Who do you want to see Gaethje fight next?
