Lightweight Interim Champion Justin Gaethje is preparing for the biggest fight of his career when he faces Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254 in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. “It’s the biggest fight of my life – absolutely. There’s no doubt about it,” Gaethje told the media during the UFC 254 virtual media day. “I’m not going to let outside influences influence the way I need to think or act or prepare. It’s really just staying true to my belief, which is be better than yesterday, (and) make better choices than yesterday. I’ve been doing that for eight weeks, and I’ve got three and a half more. I’ll be ready as I possibly can be.”

Gaethje is known to be working with one of the brightest minds in MMA in Trevor Wittman and they share a very special relationship thats lasted for years. Gaethje says that he believes him and his coach are a dangerous combo that will present serious problems to Nurmagomedov

“My confidence is probably my biggest factor right now, paired with the power that I possess, paired with the coach that I have. That’s a dangerous combination,” Gaethje said. “I don’t care if I win or lose, at the end of the day, as long as I make my family happy, as long as I’m proud of my performance, then it doesn’t matter. That’s what makes me most dangerous. I don’t know if he’s ever fought someone like that – he probably has.”

“And another factor is a lot of hard work, a lot of skill and a little bit of luck in this game. Anybody can go to sleep. He’s a fool if he doesn’t think he can go to sleep.”

Gaethje is coming off an impressive stoppage victory over Tony Ferguson in May at UFC 249 and has been looking forward to the opportunity to fight Khabib ever since.

Justin Gaethje Would Love To Slap ‘Fake’ Colby Covington Following Meeting With Donald Trump

Gaethje Covington

Justin Gaethje is clearly not a fan of Colby Covington.

The pair were recently pictured together during a meeting with President Donald Trump along with Dana White, Henry Cejudo and Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

There is certainly no love lost between Covington and Abdelaziz with the pair having gone back-and-forth on social media as well as having a physical altercation. Despite that, it appears they put their differences aside during their meeting with Trump.

And while Gaethje was impressed with how Covington conducted himself during the day, all his praise went out the window after some interviews from Covington later on.

“It was crazy man, the day after (meeting the President), I was singing his praises because of how professional he was and how he held himself,” Gaethje said during UFC 254 virtual media day (via Middle Easy). “But then he went on to do a bunch of interviews. I probably despise that man more than anybody on planet Earth, other than child pedophiles and murderers and things like that.

“He is a coward. He is a fake person. He stands there and acts like this soft hearted dude, and then he gets behind a camera and is a total coward and a fake person. I never met someone as fake as Colby Covington. As a man, I would love to slap him across the face.”

Covington will undoubtedly have a response for Gaethje once he learns of these comments but one thing is for sure — it will be yet another addition to the list of UFC fighters who have a problem with “Chaos.”

Interestingly, Gaethje also now trains alongside UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, who happens to Covington’s bitter rival.

Interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje has chimed in on the ongoing public spat between former dual weight champion Conor McGregor and UFC president Dana White.

Last week McGregor posted a series to tweet that included old messages he had exchanged with the UFC boss. White told reporters at UFC 253 that ‘Notorious’ had broken “man code” by releasing private chats, he said.

“This is some man-code stuff. It’s just something you don’t do. It’s one of the dirtiest things you can do.”

McGregor quickly fired back at his boss, taking to social media to accuse White of lying about him in public, he wrote.

“Code was broke when you lied about me turning down fights mate. I said Justin in May and you went and said I did not want to fight. It’s not about Diego. Diego was a filler to get more fights in. Also you have been involved in Manny talks the legal letters are there. Stop lying.”

Gaethje has now jumped in to the debate, siding with the UFC president and accusing McGregor of lying to save face.

“@TheNotoriousMMA not a good look lying on the boss. Anything to not look like a bitch. You had me in January I was calling on you left and right and not a peep. My manager asked if I wanted you after Tony but you know, fuck you. You never wanted it, you took the easy road kid,” Gaethje wrote on Twitter.

McGregor is currently retired from MMA after becoming dillusioned with the lack of fights available to him. The Irishman was last seen in action back in January at UFC 246. McGregor picked up an emphatic TKO win over MMA veteran Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, needing just 40 seconds to do so. Right now it is believed McGregor is set to return to the boxing ring where he will face eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

Gaethje will attempt to unify the lightweight division when he takes on Khabib Nurmagomedov later this month. ‘The Highlight’ earned his UFC 254 main event slot by beating Tony Ferguson earlier this year to extend his winning run to four.

Do you think Justin Gaethje is right? Is Conor McGregor lying to save face?
