The UFC’s middleweight division is on fire at the moment. With a new champion in Israel Adesanya sitting atop the mountain; challengers such as Kelvin Gastelum, Darren Till, Paulo Costa, and Robert Whittaker now wait as potential title challengers.

Whittaker comes off a knockout loss to “Stylebender,” dropping the 185-pound title to the Nigerian-born striker. As for Gastelum and Till, they’ll face off at UFC 244 on pay-per-view (PPV). Adesanya is believed to be gearing up to make his first title defense against Costa in 2020. Speaking to Submission Radio recently, Whittaker discussed the current layout of the middleweight division.

“Bobby Knuckles” said he’ll be paying close attention to Gastelum vs. Till in November, as the winner could very well be his next opponent.

“Yeah, certainly I’m gonna be watching it closely, cause they’re very likely opponents in the future. But I would have to say, I would have to lean towards Gastelum, because I think he’s a super underrated fighter in the middleweight division.

“But he’s very sneaky in his approach to closing the distance and his approach in landing the strikes. He’s quite quick. We’ll have to see how Till makes the transition to middleweight. That’s always a big question mark for me, watching guys jump up. So, I’ll have to lean towards Gastelum at this point.”

After seeing Whittaker’s knockout loss to Adesanya, Gastelum has come out and claimed he’d drop the Australian like “a sack of potatoes” if they fought. This kind of trash talk doesn’t come as a surprise to Whittaker in this day and age.

“Nah, I’m not surprised. The game and the culture around it, is everyone just wants to shit on each other. And yeah, it’s sad. It’s sad that people have to try and shit on each other to move up in the world. Like, I think I’ve shown, you don’t have to do that. But maybe he would have. We’ll see. We’re still quite young, both me and him, and I’m sure our paths will cross.”

Whittaker doesn’t plan on taking too much time off to recover from his loss to Adesanya either, as he claims he’s eying an early 2020 return to action.

“We’ll see what the division does. Like, I gotta see the other guys fights conclude, but February, March next year looks pretty good.”

Do you think Whittaker will fight the winner of Gastelum and Till next?

Tyron Woodley might have to put his boxing aspirations against Canelo Alvarez on hold, because some beef with Kelvin Gastelum seems to be brewing.

Speaking to TMZ recently in a UFC roundtable, Gastelum expressed interest in rematching Woodley from their initial meeting back in 2015. Gastelum added he has no personal animosity towards “T-Wood,” and ultimately respects the former division king.

“Ever since then we’ve gone back and forth,” Gastelum said … “I’ve called him out multiple times. But, ultimately we respect each other. I think it’s more of a competitive rivalry, nothing personal.”

Responding to Gastelum on his “Hollywood Beatdown” show for TMZ, Woodley did not take too kindly to those comments at all.

“Kelvin Fatselum? The one who fought me at middleweight when I was a welterweight and got his ass whooped when I broke my foot? The one I gave him his money back and now he’s talking sh*t?”

Woodley and Gastelum fought back in 2015 at UFC 183. The fight was scheduled for welterweight, but Gastelum weighed-in at 180 pounds, missing weight and forfeiting a percentage of his purse to Woodley as a result. However, Woodley paid the fine back to Gastelum because he felt bad.

The former welterweight champ also fought with an injured foot, going on to beat Gastelum via split decision.

“Why you wanna get your ass whooped again? You got beat on one foot, I played games with you. You didn’t land one punch. You missed weight by 10 pounds. I gave you your money back.”

Gastelum has also been referring to himself as “The Middleweight King” as of late, a moniker Woodley takes issue with.

“You have never fought for a middleweight title and won my man. What are you the king of? You the King of Qdoba. You the King of Chipotle. That’s what you the king of. I don’t have no love for you G. I ain’t got no pity for you,” Woodley said.

“I was respectful, I didn’t bash you when you missed weight. And, now you wanna talk sh*t about me? I will f*ck you up right now. I will f*ck you up in the Octagon. You garbage, your whole squad is garbage.”

What do you think about Woodley going off on Gastelum?

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till is preparing to make his debut at 185 pounds. Till will take on former interim 185-pound title challenger Kelvin Gastelum at the upcoming UFC 244 pay-per-view (PPV) from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

As Till prepares for the matchup against Gastelum, he has been sharing some photos of his training on Instagram. The man known as “The Gorilla” is looking massive ahead of the middleweight contest, as seen in his latest post online.

Till has had a rough couple of bouts at welterweight, losing his last two outings via stoppage to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal. Woodley submitted Till to hand the Englishman the first loss of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career back in September of 2018 in their welterweight title bout.

In his return in front of his native London crowd this past March, Masvidal finished Till with a vicious knockout in the second round. Now, he’ll take on Gastelum at 185 pounds, who had a two-fight win streak snapped when he was bested by Israel Adesanya at UFC 236 in April. It will be interesting to see how things play out between the pair come fight night in New York.

However, according to Gastelum in a recent interview with TMZ, the former Ultimate Fighter winner wasn’t 100 percent for the fight. (H/T MMA News)

“I wasn’t,” Gastelum said. “People don’t really know that, and I don’t come out in the media and say that, but, yeah, I was sick for about two weeks. I got the staph. It came back from when I had it in Australia…had the staph, had congestion in my lungs, so I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t really breathe.

“I was throwing up, so I couldn’t really train for about two weeks. People don’t really know: I stopped taking antibiotics six, seven days before the fight. People don’t really know it, but I was probably 60%, 70% for the fight.”

Gastelum hasn’t fought since his loss to Adesanya earlier this year. Now, he’s slated to take on Darren Till at UFC 244 in New York City’s Madison Square Garden on November 2. As for Adesanya, he just dismantled Robert Whittaker to become the undisputed 185-pound champion of the world, and will make his first-ever career defense against Paulo Costa next.

What do you think about Gastelum claiming he wasn’t fully healthy for his fight with Adesanya?
