Despite missing the required UFC 205 official weigh-ins before the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), resulting in a suspension that was decided upon on Monday, former Ultimate Fighter Champion Kelvin Gastelum may already have his next Octagon assignment.

According to a report at MMAFighting.com with information from Ariel Helwani, Gastelum is the UFC’s “top choice” to be the replacement opponent for Tim Kennedy at next month’s UFC 206: Cormier vs. Johnson 2 event following Rashad Evans being pulled from the fight yet again by the Ontario Commission this week. They are reportedly aware of the NYSAC “administrative suspension” given to Gastelum today, yet still have him as their top choice to replace Evans.

Gastelum was handed down a six-month suspension by the NYSAC on Monday, however the suspension is an “administrative suspension,” different from the usual “commission suspensions” that are given to fighters on most occasions. Additionally, Gastelum has not been suspended across the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) database.

The former TUF Champion who won the longtime UFC reality show at 185 pounds, had difficulty with his weight-cut leading up to his scheduled fight against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York City earlier this month, and as a result, failed to show up to the mandatory weigh-ins.

It’s worth pointing out that Gastelum’s team, according to the aforementioned tweeted by Helwani (see below), is “emphatically saying” that he will only be doing one fight at 185 pounds and then will be heading back to 170 pounds, despite UFC President Dana White saying UFC would never promote him at 170 pounds again after the weigh-in issues.

UFC 206 takes place on Saturday, December 10th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada featuring the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson.

It looks like UFC 206 is slowly but surely becoming the unofficial “UFC 205 replacement card.”

In addition to Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy being moved to next month’s UFC pay-per-view event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada following a medical issue that came up during Evans’ examination with the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC), Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone’s replacement fight has also been booked for the show.

According to Damon Martin, and later a report by Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com, Cerrone will be joining the UFC 206 fight card with a new opponent — “The Immortal” Matt Brown.

Cerrone was scheduled to fight former TUF Champion Kelvin Gastelum tomorrow night until Gastelum badly missed weight at this morning’s official UFC 205 weigh-ins. As a result, UFC pulled the fight from tomorrow’s card in New York City, and UFC President Dana White vowed to never let Gastelum fight at 170-pounds again.

Featuring Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson 2 for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, Anthony Pettis vs. Max Holloway, the aforementioned Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy and now Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone vs. Matt Brown fights, UFC 206: Cormier vs. Johnson is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 10th from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

By now everyone is aware of the fact that a second fight has been pulled from the historic UFC 205 fight card scheduled for Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. As one would expect, UFC President Dana White isn’t pleased.

White spoke with FOX Sports (see video below) about having to cancel another Kelvin Gastelum fight just 24-hours before a show due to his inability to make the required weight-limit for his scheduled 170-pound showdown against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at tomorrow night’s big event.

“I’ll never let him fight at 170 again,” White told FOX Sports. “I think he missed this one by 10 pounds,” he added when talking about the issue with Gastelum at Friday morning’s official UFC 205 weigh-ins.

The most stacked card in history is here.

Blowing previous mega-cards UFC 200 and UFC 202 out of the water in terms of potential excitement, high-level competition, big names, and high stakes, UFC 205 will be the promotion’s inaugural foray into New York City. The blockbuster event will emanate Saturday November 12, 2016, from Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

The headliner will see the biggest draw in the sport today, Conor McGregor, seeking to make history. The current undisputed featherweight champion, the ‘Notorious’ one will attempt to dethrone current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. If he is successful, he will become the first simultaneous two-division title-holder in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The hard-nosed Alvarez will be making his first defense of the title in the money fight of his choosing. He last appeared in July, when he ripped the belt from Rafael dos Anjos.

The main card also features two other title fights. First, Joanna J?drzejczyk will look to defend her title for a fourth time when she goes toe to toe with fellow Polish striker Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Then welterweight champ Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley will square off with consensus number one contender Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.

The rest of the main draw will see New York native Chris Weidman lock horns with Cuban wrestling dynamo Yoel Romero and former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate warring with Raquel Pennington.

Read on for a breakdown of every scrap on the main card.
