Kevin Holland continues to impress at welterweight after making easy work of Tim Means in the co-main event of UFC Austin tonight.
Holland looked sharp as he earned an impressive submission victory against Means. In round one, Means dominated in the clinch and landed a few takedowns, however Holland rocked Means several times with some devastating combinations.
In round two, Holland landed a huge right that wobbled Means, who then attempted a takedown that Holland used to his advantage, locking in a D’Arce choke that had Means tapping in seconds.
Holland is now two for two since stepping back down to the 170-pound division, having previously defeated Alex Oliveira via TKO in March. In his post-fight interview, Holland called out #9 ranked welterweight Sean Brady.

Taking co-main event honors on short notice, Holland looked incredibly sharp against veteran Albuquerque native, Means — landing decent strikes in the pocket and fighting long against the New Mexico veteran.
Returning to welterweight back in March at UFC 272, Holland stopped promotional veteran, Alex Oliveira with second round strikes — turning in his second consecutive second round finish tonight against Means.
Locking up a slick D’Arce choke in the early goings of the frame, Holland stung Means with a straight right, before immediately jumping to a submission — quickly forcing a tap.
Setting sights on remaining active, Holland offered to fight promotional perfect grappler, Sean Brady at a UFC event in September in his next Octagon outing.

UFC welterweight Kevin Holland seems to always be at the right place at the right time when it comes to stopping crime.
According to his manager, Oren Hodak of KO Reps, Holland and his team were at a local beverage store when they witnessed a pursuit taking place of an alleged perfume thief. Holland then left his team to chase down the perpetrator on a nearby street where he eventually retrieved the stolen items.
Watch Holland, and a witness to his heroics, speak about the incident in a video posted by MMA Junkie below.
“So we’re just sitting out here with nothing to do. We had got some water from a liquor and wine stop with (coach). Then we see some guy running down the street, so we opened up our cardio and chased a crack head,” Holland said in the video. “That’s how we did it. That’s what we did today.”
It’s uncertain if local police in Austin have identified and apprehended the suspect in the alleged theft.

While he admires Dominick Cruz as a fighter, UFC welterweight Kevin Holland is not a fan of the former bantamweight champion’s analysis and commentary work.
Cruz, who has had two stints atop the 135-pound mountain and remains inside the divisional top 10, has become a notable figure in the broadcasting section of the UFC. He often calls events as a color commentator, joining the likes of Paul Felder, Daniel Cormier, and Michael Bisping in that role.
Like any commentator, especially in modern times, Cruz’s analysis is an acquired taste. While some appreciate the former titleholder’s insight, knowledge, and use of his personal fight IQ to break down fights, others have criticized the veteran’s work, in particular some questionable remarks when it comes to the scoring of certain bouts.
But Holland, a longtime UFC middleweight and now-welterweight fighter, has a grudge against “The Dominator” for other reasons.
During his appearance at UFC Austin media day on Wednesday, which came ahead of his fight with Tim Means this weekend in Texas, Holland appeared agitated at some questions sent his way by Cruz during his fighter meeting with the broadcast team.
“I’ve been working on the wrestling for over a year now, and I believe that if I work on anything for over a year, it’s a f*cking problem,” said Holland. “Though I don’t know what the f*ck Dominick Cruz is in there talking about, but it’s gonna be a f*cking problem.”
When further quizzed on his Cruz remarks, Holland admitted that the man regarded by many as the bantamweight GOAT “bugs” him with how he commentates his fights. Nevertheless, “Trailblazer” insisted that he still respects Cruz as a mixed martial artist.
“Man, he was just — he asked me something about my wrestling. I don’t like the way he acts,” said Holland. “I don’t like that guy, bro. It’s just, he bugs me… Yeah (it was in the fighter meeting), he’s always got something to say about my sh*t. F*cking Dominick.
“He’s still a OG though, you now what I mean? That being said, I like the way he fights. It’s just when he commentates. I hate how he commentates on my fights. But I love when he fights. His movement is f*cking crazy,” added Holland.
Despite not being Cruz’s biggest supporter when it comes to commentary, Holland will be fighting in Austin this weekend with the former bantamweight kingpin calling the action. Given his latest comments, we can’t imagine “Big Mouth” will be rushing to watch a repeat of the broadcast, especially if he finds himself on his back…

UFC welterweight Tim Means is expecting fireworks in his upcoming fight with Kevin Holland at UFC Austin on June 18th.
The 38-year-old Means is looking to continue his three-fight winning streak, which has included wins over the likes of Mike Perry and Laureano Staropoli. He most recently defeated Nicolas Dalby last June and will face Holland in a massive fight for the division.
Holland is looking to continue winning since making the move from middleweight last year. Following a no-contest against Kyle Daukaus last October, he defeated Alex Oliveira in his welterweight debut at UFC 272.
“You’re going to get two guys who love to throw punches,” Means said. “Holland has some fans, he likes to talk a whole lot and give the showmanship. I think it has Fight of the Night written all over it.
“This is gonna be a fun fight… fans will get their money’s worth. Bring the popcorn.”
Means has fought some of the top contenders in the welterweight division, including Daniel Rodriguez and Belal Muhammad. He made his UFC debut in Feb. 2012 in a win over Bernardo Magalhaes.
Means and Holland are both looking to move one step closer to a spot in the welterweight rankings with a victory.
UFC Austin will be headlined by a featherweight battle between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett.
