Khamzat Chimaev now appears to be facing former middleweight title challenger, Jared Cannonier.

Following making quick work of Kevin Holland in September of 2022, it seemed that Chimaev would be ready to make a quick return to the octagon. However, 10 months on and the 29-year-old has nothing booked after being linked with several opponents from 170-185lbs.

With documented issue making weight, Chimaev’s next step is a little more difficult than it should be, had he made weight for his cancelled bout against Nate Diaz. ‘Borz’ has bounced between the two weight classes, but his best chance at winning a UFC title appeared to be at welterweight given his natural size and strength advantage at the division.

For a while, it appeared that he would in fact be making the jump to middleweight to face Paulo Costa, in what would have been a highly intriguing contest given Costa’s athletic ability. Then, Chimaev was linked to a bout with former champion, Kamaru Usman, with the pair going back-and-forth most recently as yesterday.

While both Usman and Chimaev seemed keen for the fight, it now seems that Chimaev will return against a top middleweight.

Khamzat Chimaev’s next potential opponent leaked

Thanks to post by one of Chimaev’s coaches, Azamat Dugulubgov, and some crafting fans, it now appears that his next opponent will in fact be No.3 ranked middleweight, Jared Cannonier.

Dugulubgov posted to Instagram a photo of a UFC fight with the fighters blurred out, captioning it – “Already studying the next opponent for the Borz.”

Leaked Khamzat Chimaev opponent

It didn’t take long for fans to make comparisons to previous fights, and it appears to match up perfectly to a fight between Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum.

Gastleum is currently booked against Shavkat Rakhmonov after moving back down from middleweight. A fight between Cannonier and Chimaev had also been discussed after the ‘Killa Gorilla’ had been asked about the fight following his recent win over Marvin Vettori.

Who wins, Khamzat Chimaev or Jared Cannonier?

Kevin Holland offers to fight Jack Della Maddelena at UFC 290, fight Michael Chiesa 3 weeks later

With the highly-touted, Sean Brady forced from a scheduled UFC 290 return next weekend during International Fight Week against the surging, Jack Della Maddalena, Californian striker, Kevin Holland has offered to fight the Australian on a weeks’ notice – before returning to fight his originally-scheduled foe, Michael Chiesa at UFC 291 at the end of July.

Holland, who snapped a two-fight losing skid to Khamzat Chimaev and former two-time welterweight title chaser, Stephen Thompson, managed to stop Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287 earlier this year, defeating the Argentine veteran with a bizarre third round knockout.

And slated to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 291 at the end of July in Salt Lake City, Utah, Holland takes on the returning Ultimate Fighter alum, Chiesa in a pay-per-view clash.

Kevin Holland makes a stunning offer to fight at both UFC 290 and UFC 291

However, with the aforenoted, Della Maddalena now without an opponent for UFC 290 next week during International Fight Week, due to an injury suffered by the aforenoted, Brady – Holland has stunningly offered to fill-in, and then fight Chiesa at the end of next month.

“Kevin Holland offers a 175 pound catchweight fight with Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 290 WHILE keeping his fight with Michael Chiesa at UFC 291,” ESPN MMA tweeted.”

14-2 as a professional, the highly-touted, Maddelena has landed three notable wins most recently, defeating the trio of Ramzan Emeev, Danny Roberts, as well as locking up a first round submission win over Randy Brown.

Since his return to the welterweight limit, Holland has racked up three wins and two losses – defeating veteran duo Alex Oliveira and Tim Means with knockout and submission wins, respectively, to go with his UFC 287 knockout of Ponzinibbio.

UFC fan-favorites Kevin Holland and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thomspon are the stars of a new Jose Cuervo commercial that sees the two welterweight standouts having a friendly scrap inside the Octagon.

In December, Holland and Thompson competed in a highly entertaining UFC Fight Night main event that saw ‘Wonderboy’ walk out with his first win since 2020. Five months later, the two welterweight standouts are running it back. Just not in the way you expected, as seen in the video clip below courtesy of @mmas_squared on Twitter.

It’s not the first time the brand has had some fun with UFC fighters. Fans may remember a commercial featuring two-time title challenger Justin Gaethje and TUF alumnus Michael Chiesa engaged in a never-ending staredown while attending a UFC watch party.

Kevin Holland and ‘Wonderboy’ Get Back into the Win Column

Kevin Holland and Stephen Thompson went toe-to-toe in Orlando late last year in a five-round showdown after making a gentleman’s agreement to keep the fight standing. ‘Trailblazer’ would eventually live to regret the decision, suffering a TKO loss in the fourth round. It would be Holland’s second-straight defeat at the time, having previously been ragdolled by undefeated Chechen monster Khamzat Chimaev. Holland has since climbed back into the win column with a highlight-reel-worthy knockout of Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287.

Like his opponent, ‘Wonderboy’ bounced back from back-to-back losses of his own against top contenders Gilbert Burns and Belal Muhammad.

UFC 288 on Saturday night will host a potential welterweight title eliminator as Burns and Muhammad square off for the chance to take on reigning 170-pound king Leon Edwards later this year.

Kevin Holland warns Ian Garry ahead of potential clash: ‘Stay far the f*ck away’

Kevin Holland had some strong words of advice for rising welterweight prospect Ian Garry.

‘Trailblazer’ got back into the win column with a highlight-reel-worthy knockout of Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287 last weekend. Following his victory, Kevin Holland made an appearance on MMA Junkie Radio to discuss his third-round finish against the Argentinian and what may come next.

“I really don’t feel the need to call too many people out – I mean, at 170,” Holland said. “If anybody at ’85 wants to fight again, we could do it. If anybody who’s ever beat me at 170 wants to do it again, we can do it. Other than that, it’s whoever the organization wants me to fight. If they want to keep giving me people that’s outside of the top 15, I’m cool with that too” (h/t MMA Junkie).

However, there was one man that Kevin Holland wanted to address; streaking Irish standout Ian Garry.

“I seen Ian Garry called my name,” Holland continued. “I think the dude is on a hell of a trajectory. I think he’s doing great things. I think he’s on the way to the top, and if he feels that I’m a name that he needs to help himself to the top, I think he should stay far the f*ck away, because he likes to strike and he does get dropped with a left hook. If you’ve seen my left hook these days, like I said, newfound relationship. It hurts. And the right hand, by time he’s ready to fight, will be crisp.

“I just don’t think it’s a smart fight for Ian Garry right this second. Like I said, maybe one day he’ll be a titleholder and I’ll be a BMF holder, and we can clash it up for big dollars or something like that.”

Ian Garry is 11-0 in his mixed martial career, including four-straight wins inside the Octagon. He’ll look to make it a dozen W’s on May 13 when he squares off with Daniel Rodriguez at a UFC Fight Night card in North Carolina.

Kevin Holland Could Make Another Quick Turnaround

Despite being less than a week removed from his win over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Kevin Holland is ready to get back inside the cage. ‘Trailblazer’ suggested he could return as early as May, noting that a clash with The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner Michael Chiesa could be on the horizon.

“I think May would be really quick, but I think that I would be rightfully so ready for a Chiesa fight if he wanted to step in there in May,” Holland told MMA Junkie Radio. “If not, we could do it after May, or whoever they have lined up for me, whenever they want me to go. It really doesn’t matter. If I get to go soon, awesome. If not, I could wait until slightly after July.”

“… Chiesa was just hot on the mind because he had a chance to fight on the card, didn’t get a chance to fight on the card. I never know what another man’s making, I never know what another man’s doing, I never know if another man has plans with his money that he’s potentially about to make, but I can at least offer a man a chance to get his show money by whooping his f*cking ass. So, that’s the least I can do.”

Jorge Masvidal misgendered Kevin Holland UFC 287 he called me a girl

Former UFC welterweight title challenger, Jorge Masvidal has claimed he has no interest in providing any coverage to his recent run-in with division contender, Kevin Holland ahead of their respective outings at UFC 287 last weekend – detailing how the Californian striker “misgendered” him several times throughout their interactions.

Masvidal, a former two-time title challenger at the welterweight limit under the promotion’s banner, co-headlined UFC 287 last weekend in Miami, Florida – suffering a one-sided unanimous decision loss to former title chaser, Gilbert Burns.

Following the defeat, Masvidal, a native of the ‘Sunshine State’, confirmed his retirement from mixed martial arts with immediate effect, citing a loss in efficiency in his recent fights, and how he only wanted to compete successfully against top contenders in the division.

However, prior to any sort of clash with Burns at the flagship event – Jorge Masvidal engaged in two separate altercations with Riverside native, Holland during fight week.

Initially Masvidal and Holland were corralled by teammates and UFC officials at the fighter hotel, before the two were then separated outside the venue following ceremonial weigh-ins, with Holland alleged to have confronted Masvidal, calling him “baby girl”.

Jorge Masvidals claims Kevin Holland “misgendered” him during UFC 287 run-in

Addressing his pair of run-ins with Holland, American Top Team veteran, Masvidal claimed he did not give a “flying f*ck” about the outspoken challenger.

“I don’t give a flying f*ck about this guy [Kevin Holland],” Jorge Masvidal told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “If I run into him in a parking lot, we can have a discussion man-to-man, but like to fight this guy, or to hype anything up for a fight? No thanks. The guy’s a quitter and a bum. He called me a girl – he misgendered, he straight up misgendered me. He said it himself that he misgendered me. And I won’t stand for that. I won’t take that.”

“I’m like, ‘Don’t play with me, bro.’” Jorge Masvidal explained. “I’m not here to play with you in any way share or form. I don’t give a f*ck about your existence. If you do good, good. And if you do bad, I don’t give a f*ck. Just stay the f*ck away from me. You’re not gonna misgender me either.”

Featuring on the main card of UFC 287 himself, Holland managed to turn in his first victory inside three outings, defeating ATT staple, Santiago Ponzinibbio with a third round KO in a highlight-reel stoppage

Kevin Holland delivered another UFC first during his welterweight clash with Santiago Ponzinibbio on Saturday night.

‘Trailblazer’ has become a fan-favorite in recent years for his highlight-reel knockouts and his gift for gab. He delivered both at UFC 287, scoring a massive third-round KO, but not before asking his opponent if he smelled something a little funky in the air. Near the four-minute mark of the opening round, Holland casually asked Ponzinibbio if he could smell weed. His opponent did not respond, but Holland wasn’t the only one to pick up on it.

Adding their unique brand of commentary to the contest, UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier and popular podcaster Joe Rogan both confirmed that they could smell the same scent that Kevin Holland clearly picked up on.

Kevin Holland Returns to His Winning Ways

Kevin Holland quickly got back to work, adding another brilliant win by way of knockout to his already impressive resume. It was a big win for ‘Trailblazer’ as he was coming off back-to-back losses against undefeated Chechen monster Khamzat Chimaev and perennial contender Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. Following the third-round finish, Holland called out the self-proclaimed BMF champion Jorge Masvidal, demanding a shot at the Miami native’s homebrew title. The callout was by no means random as it came on the heel of two separate altercations between Holland and Masvidal during UFC 287’s fight week festivities.

Unfortunately, it does not look like Holland will get his shot at ‘Gamebred’ as Masvidal announced his retirement from mixed martial arts following a decisive loss to No. 5 ranked welterweight Gilbert Burns on Saturday night.

Back in the win column, Kevin Holland will likely look for a top-15 opponent next. Who would you like to see ‘Trailblazer’ matchup with when he returns to the Octagon?
