The MMA world is almost collectively ecstatic that UFC 229’s main event will move forward as scheduled. Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov made weight and Conor McGregor did soon after at today’s UFC 229 early weigh-ins. That left most of the fight game ready to rejoice. But one person isn’t so excited, and it’s women’s strawweight veteran Felice Herrig.

Herrig will face Michelle Waterson in the opening bout of the UFC 229 main card from the T-Mobile Arena tomorrow night.

She’s apparently been getting some hatred online because of her anti-McGregor stance due to his controversial New York attack. Herrig was asked about this dynamic at the UFC 229 Media Day. She revealed to MMA Fighting (via Bloody Elbow) that it’s all because of his ‘nuthugger’ fans:

“I think because there’s controversy, and so many people they either love Conor or they hate him. So his nuthuggers are gonna be like ‘How dare you speak of the king like that? Blasphemy!’

Blind Followers?

‘Little Bulldog’ went on to offer her opinion that McGregor’s fan would follow him blindly no matter what he did. Those who would do anything at all for McGregor are the ones hating on her:

“I think it’s just because people will follow him blindly. He’s the kind of person who could be a cult leader and have all these little minions. The people that get pissed at me are his little minions who would kiss his feet. So that’s why I get hate, it’s because he’s so loved or hated or controversial.”

Yet Herrig is undeterred. She is not happy with his controversial assault earlier this year, and will never be. Herrig even went as far as to call McGregor a “piece of s**t” for his attack on several fighters:

“I don’t care, what he did was wrong,” she said. “I still think he’s a piece of sh-t, and I’m always going to think he’s a piece of sh-t.”

Conor McGregor Discusses Khabib’s Childhood Bear Wrestling

Khabib’s grappling is so elite he wrestled bears as a child.

There’s no doubt Khabib Nurmagomedov’s grappling is unlike anything the MMA world has ever seen.

“The Eagle” has dominated each and every man he has ever fought en route to an undefeated 26-0 record. The Dagestani people are known for producing some relentless wrestlers. The UFC lightweight champion is a perfect example of that.

This weekend (Sat. October 6, 2018) Khabib will defend his title against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229. It’s certainly an interesting match-up. McGregor is an elite striker in the sport of MMA, an area Khabib has struggled with in past fights.

As for McGregor, he has shown some big weaknesses on the ground, where Khabib excels. In fact, Khabib has been so dominant in the grappling department that he held his own against a bear as a child. This was mentioned during McGregor’s recent appearance on “Conan.”

The crowd thought that Conan was joking when he mentioned the video. McGregor said that it’s true Khabib wrestled a bear, but he has never wrestled an Irish gorilla:

“He may have wrestled Dagestani bears, but he has never wrestled an Irish gorilla, Conan,” McGregor said. “And that’s what he’s about to take on Saturday night.”

The UFC’s biggest fight of all-time is officially set. The MMA world can let out a sigh of relief to see that former champion Conor McGregor makes weight for tomorrow night’s (October 6, 2018) UFC 229 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

McGregor hit the scales at 154.5 pounds at today’s UFC 229 early weigh-ins. He received an uproar of support from his fans. But the UFC’s biggest star didn’t wait to soak it in. He rushed out of the weigh-ins as fast as he arrived.

Watch him step on the scale and hit his mark via The Score:

The news comes on the heels of champion Khabib Nurmagomedov making weight as the first man on the scales today. There was obviously a ton of uncertainty surrounding ‘The Eagle’s’ mark on the scale.

McGregor came in late as he usually does. He was a half-pound below the lightweight title fight limit of 155 pounds. Both fighters looked in shape and ready.

So all concerns in terms of weight have been checked off the list. The UFC’s biggest match-up can now proceed as planned.

For once, the MMA gods have smiled upon us today. Who will win in Vegas tomorrow night?

Dana White Praises Khabib For ‘Perfectly Played’ Strategy To McGregor’s ‘Mind Games’

White had nothing but positive things to say about the UFC lightweight champion.

The post Dana White Praises Khabib For ‘Perfectly Played’ Strategy To McGregor’s ‘Mind Games’ appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Dana White praises Khabib Nurmagomedov for his actions when he took the stage for what was supposed to be the final exchange with Conor McGregor before they fight. This was being hyped as the last time that they would trade words in a public setting before getting inside of the Octagon.

Nurmagomedov will attempt to make his first successful title defense as lightweight champ against the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion. Things didn’t go according to plan.

Nurmagomedov was left sitting around and waiting for McGregor to get to the press conference. This is not what Khabib wanted as he started the hard cut to make weight as he was most likely starving and miserable during the final day of his weight cut.

Thus, he decided to have different plans as he bailed on the conference before McGregor could arrive due to him always being late to these media events. The UFC President took notice of this move and thought it was a great move on the part of the UFC champ.

Mind Games

“These are all mind games leading up until tomorrow,” White told ESPN (H/T to MMAMania). “If you really look at what happened in New York, I think Conor McGregor absolutely got in his head, got in his manager’s head, rattled and shook them all in New York.”

Dana White Praises Khabib

White continued by stating that he thought it was a perfect counter-punch by the champ and handled it like a pro.

“I thought [Thursday] was the perfect counter-punch by Khabib. Khabib went out there at three o’clock, said, ‘I’m a professional, I’m here, I’m here to answer questions, and then I’m going to leave.’ I thought it was played perfectly by Khabib.”

The UFC 229 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
