It looks like all has been forgiven and forgotten in the case of EA Sports’ recent religious blunder, as it relates to UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.

As noted earlier this week, Nurmagomedov took to social media to call out the video game company in regards to his post-fight celebration in the new UFC 2 game.

The celebration has Nurmagomedov currently making a “cross” gesture, which as “The Eagle” points out, is against his Muslim religion.

“I’m a MUSLIM and not Baptized. Please EA Sports edit my after fight celebration. I have a lot of Muslim fans and you have to respect it,” wrote Nurmagomedov on Twitter when first noticing the mistake in the game.

Since then, EA Sports has taken to social media to apologize to the UFC contender and inform him that the issue will be fixed. They posted the following on Instagram:

“Hello Khabib. Just wanted to reach out and let you know that we’ve seen your concern in regards to your after fight celebration. We’ve informed our development team about this issue and will change the celebration in our next update. Apologies if this has offended you in any way.”

Nurmagomedov then responded with the following comments:

“I’m Muslim, Alhamdulilah. I have nothing against Christians. Every man in this life has his own way, and my way is Islam. Developers of the game made mistake. Let’s be honest, every human being made mistakes, and I’m not holding a grudge. They apologized and promised to fix it. Hopefully, next time they wouldn’t make mistakes like this, and take account everybody’s religion.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is a devout Muslim, is apparently upset with EA Sports regarding the new UFC 2 video game.

Nurmagomedov took to social media recently after noticing that his character in the video game celebrates a victory by making a “cross” gesture.

The UFC contender, who is scheduled to headline the next UFC On FOX card, addressed the folks at EA Sports on Twitter after noticing the video game blunder.

“I’m a MUSLIM and not Baptized. Please @EASPORTSUFC edit my after fight celebration,” wrote Nurmagomedov in the tweet, which can be seen below. “I have a lot of Muslim fans and you have to respect it.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson is scheduled to headline the UFC On FOX 19 event on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

It seems everyone is keen to jump on the subject of Conor McGregor at the moment, and Tony Ferguson isn’t impressed by the UFC featherweight champion…

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor experienced deja vu in the lead up to next weekend’s (Saturday March 5) UFC 196 main event. With almost identical timing as Jose Aldo with his injured rib before UFC 189, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos backed out of the UFC 196 pay-per-view with a broken foot. The lottery of who would fight McGregor in the big money spot was underway.

Eventually it would be Stockton bad boy Nate Diaz that got the nod to fight Conor McGregor, but the rabble surrounding ‘The Notorious’ continues. UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson recently called McGregor a ‘turtle’ and a ‘bitch,’ claiming he’d make it ‘red panty night’ for the outspoken Irishman if they ever fought.

‘El Cucuy’ is riding a red hot seven fight win streak at present, and most recently submitted Edson Barboza in a classic brawl last December. Scheduled to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in a UFC on FOX 19 clash, Ferguson took to periscope to answer some fan questions last night, and it wasn’t long before the inevitable subject of McGregor was raised. Here’s how Ferguson responded:

The truth is that nobody knows what’s next for McGregor if he beats Diaz, and that pretty much puts the top end of two weight divisions on hold. Would he face dos Anjos for the lightweight belt, or perhaps the featherweight strap he won against Jose Aldo needs to be defended at some point in the coming months? Don’t even get started on the fact McGregor called out Robbie Lawler at UFC 200.

Whatever the case, ‘The Notorious’ continues to be hot property in multiple weight classes in the UFC, but for how long? Is it only a matter of time before his alleged weakness of wrestling and submission defense is exposed, or will McGregor continue his meteoric rise unbeaten?

19-year-old phenom “Super” Sage Northcutt has received a huge backing from the UFC since his debut just a few months back at UFC 192 in October, with the promotion obviously sensing a massive amount of potential in him.

After running through Francisco Trevino in just 57 seconds, Northcutt scored a second round submission over Cody Pfister at December 10’s UFC Fight Night 80 from Las Vegas.

After scoring two straight victories, “Super” Sage was ready for his third bout last night (January 30, 2016), as he took on late replacement Bryan Barberena on the main card of UFC on FOX 18.

Northcutt finally hit a road block, however, suffering a second round submission loss. In the aftermath of the setback, the Texas native has received quite a bit of criticism, even from some fellow fighters.

Surging lightweight contender Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson took to his official twitter account to take a shot at a downed Northcutt:

While some took the chance to pepper “Super” Sage, others were there to defend him, specifically No. 2-ranked 155 pounder Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, who just so happens to be scheduled to meet Ferguson at April’s UFC on FOX 19.

Nurmagomedov fired back at “El Cucuy”, calling him a “jealous bum”:

In the end, Ferguson would drop one more insult towards “The Eagle” and his notorious injury issues:

While Northcutt obviously has some holes to fill, he still has a long future ahead of him in the sport of mixed martial arts.

Do you see the young star bouncing back from the loss?

Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov Eyed for April UFC on Fox Event

Tony Ferguson (20-3) will not be fighting No. 7-ranked lightweight contender Michael Johnson (16-10), and he will not be fighting at UFC 197.

Tony Ferguson (20-3) will not be fighting No. 7-ranked lightweight contender Michael Johnson (16-10), and he will not be fighting at UFC 197.

As first reported by MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani (h/t MMAFighting.com’s Hunter A. Homistek), Johnson withdrew from the UFC 197 contest, and the UFC moved Ferguson from the event. Ferguson, the No. 5-ranked contender, will now get a higher-ranked opponent in No. 2-ranked Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0).

The reason Johnson dropped out of UFC 197 was not available.

The new fight is being eyed for an April date that will be a UFC on Fox event.

Ferguson is currently riding a seven-fight win streak after defeating Edson Barboza via D’arce choke at The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale in December. The talented contender has risen up the ranks with his aggressive style and impressive finishes.

Nurmagomedov, however, has not seen the inside of the Octagon since April 2014.

The top end of the lightweight division is in a state of uncertainty. Rafael dos Anjos will defend the title against Conor McGregor at UFC 197, but following the event, there is no clear-cut top contender. The winner of Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov could slide into that role in the spring.

The stylistic matchup between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov should provide fans with an entertaining bout.

Both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov move forward to press the action. Ferguson has a violent attack of striking and submission, and Nurmagomedov has been virtually unstoppable with his grappling. Nurmagomedov is the last man to beat the champion, and in that fight, he was successful on six of 12 takedown attempts, per FightMetric.

This is a huge fight for the lightweight division. Come the conclusion of this fight in April, the title picture should be a lot clearer. Ferguson and Nurmagomedov are on the precipice of a title shot.

Bleacher Report will continue to update you regarding this fight and all UFC action as details become available.
