After a successful boxing debut that only lasted 17 seconds, Kevin Ferguson, also known as Kimbo Slice, will make his second appearance in the squared circle on October 15.
Feguson’s next opponent will be Ray Bledsoe, according to ESPN‘s Franklin McNeil, with the bout taking place at the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
It has been over a year since Slice was seen fighting in MMA, but he did take quite an amount of publicity with him into the boxing world: He knocked out James Wade in the first round of his debut bout in August.
Ferguson left Mixed Martial Arts with a 4-2 record, having fought in EliteXC, The Ultimate Fighter and twice in the UFC. He went 1-1 in the promotion before being dropped after his loss to Matt Mitrione.
Bledsoe brings a 2-3 record to the ring and is currently riding a three-fight losing streak. He was knocked out in each of his losses, including two that came in the very first round.
“(Ferguson) is just frightening and he is going to do much better in boxing than in MMA,” promoter Gary Shaw told ESPN. “Fans better not leave their seats during the action because somebody’s lights could go out at any time.”

The UFC originally had plans for Kurt Angle versus Kimbo Slice on a pay-per-view card?
“It’s true! It’s damn true,” claims Angle.
The 42-year-old former WWE wrestler recently spoke with The Void about the proposed MMA bout that never came to be.
“The first time I met (Dana White), he wouldn’t let me wrestle and fight, and I had just signed with TNA, and I didn’t want to go back to TNA and say, ‘Hey, I’m not doing this now…’ so he said ‘call me when you’re done wrestling,'” said Angle.
“I called him a couple of years later—I was getting a little tired of wrestling—I said ‘Hey, I’m ready,’ so we had another meeting and he had me do a physical, and he threw a great offer at me, but said ‘I need you in four and a half weeks.'”
This would’ve shortened any potential camp for Angle, who had virtually no MMA fighting experience outside of training.
Angle dreamed of one day competing inside the UFC octagon, but if his dream was destined to unfold, he wanted to be at his best. A fighter, especially one with Angle’s age and limited experience, can hardly compete at his best with such a short training camp.
“I said ‘I can’t do that. You’ve gotta give me three to six months,’ but he said ‘I need you in four and a half weeks,’ so I said ‘Well then, we’re not going to be able to do this,'” Angle stated.
“The reason Dana White wanted me so quickly though is because he wanted to put me in the next available pay-per-view against Kimbo Slice.
“I could’ve done it in four and a half weeks, but I wanted to be at my best. I didn’t want to start training, almost be at my best, but not quite. No matter who it is, I knew I wanted to take them down and pound them, but I wanted to be 100-percent ready, I didn’t want to just train for four weeks.”
“In fact, I couldn’t have trained for four weeks anyway,” Angle continued. “I would’ve trained for two weeks, and then tapered down for two weeks to get ready. It didn’t even make sense. Two and a half weeks of training? Who does that? Also, I hadn’t even trained in MMA for at least a year and a half.”
Angle wished things could’ve turned out differently, but he understands the window has closed on a potential career in MMA. As a former Olympic gold medalist, Angle and fans will always ponder the possibilities.
What would an in-shape Angle at optimum condition look like in the UFC octagon?
MMA fans will never know the answer to that question.
“My MMA career is over. I always wanted to do it, but I think going back to wrestling at the Olympics will fill that void, that ‘what if…'”
Angle is expected to try out for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team. If he earns a spot, he would be the oldest member ever to make the team.
UFC President Dana White hasn’t confirmed any of Angle’s comments.

Former UFC fighter Kevin Ferguson—who is more affectionately known as “Kimbo Slice“—will be returning to the cage once again.
After a 1-1 stint inside the Octagon, Ferguson returned to competitive competition on August 13, injecting himself into the professional boxing circuit. Kimbo immediately made headlines when he knocked out opponent James Wade in just a matter of seconds.
Under the thumb of boxing promoter Gary Shaw, who first worked with Kimbo under the now defunct EliteXC banner, the street fighting legend was thought to have a promising career as a boxer, though those aspirations will be put on hold for the time being.
Fellow ex-street fighter Dhafir Harris, who goes by the alias “DADA 5000”, will be meeting his fellow Floridian at an as-of-yet-announced mixed martial arts bout in the World of Fighting Organization. The two men will compete for the promotion’s heavyweight title. Harris revealed those plans when he was a guest on the Rodolfo Roman show, stating that the bout will take place sometime in January of next year, possibly in Las Vegas or in their backyard (no pun intended) of Orlando, Florida.
DADA 5000 is currently undefeated as a pro, holding a 2-0 record, both coming by way of knockout. Kimbo was last seen in the midst of a chain-linked fence when he took on Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in May of last year, succumbing to second-round strikes from the undefeated prospect, which eventually prompted Slice to pursue an aspiring career as a boxer.
(To add more intrigue, winner should get to shave the loser’s head and beard. They can call the show, “Someone’s fro has to go.”)
It looks like former backyard brawlers-turned-MMA-fighters and Team Kimbo teammates Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris are going to put dough before bros when they step in the cage opposite one another in Florida in January 2012.
According to a report by our friend The Fight Nerd, Dada 5000, who is 2-0 against a pair of opponents with a combined 1-8 record, broke the news of the yet-to-be-signed fight that is penciled in for January 12 under the World Fighting Organization (creative, huh?) banner during a recent appearance on the Rodolfo Roman Show. He also said that the bout will be a five-round heavyweight title fight, which is curious considering the WFO already has a heavyweight champ, by the name of Marcio Cruz.
Harris says that one possible venue for the show is Universal Studios in Orlando, which makes sense since both he and Ferguson came up through the backyard fighting circuit in the Sunshine State. Another possible location that has been discussed he says is the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but the promotion might have to run that by a couple Italian brothers who own a casino in the city first.
