The Toyota Center in Houston, Texas will play host to UFC Fight Night 104 this weekend. Featuring in the main event will be a featherweight clash, showcasing one of the most exciting fighters in the division’s history. ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung returns after a three-year absence, but it’s no gimme fight. Facing ‘KZ’ will be top 10 staple Dennie Bermudez, so expect all kinds of war in TX. At women’s strawweight is where the co-main event lands, and we’ll see Alexa Grasso against Felice Herrig. Currently unbeaten as a pro, Grasso will look to keep the ball rolling against Herrig, who is coming off a submission win over Kailin Curran.
Lightweight brawler Abel Trujilo will collide with 9-1 James Vick, and there’s also the return of Ovince St-Preux as he faces Volkan Oezdemir. Heavyweights Marcel Fortuna and Anthony Hamilton have unfinished business, and opening the card is a great fight between Jessica Andrade and Angela Hill.
Korean Zombie’s Return
Tecia Torres and Bec Rawlings highlight a solid undercard, but watch out for rising prospect Niko Price too. The early weigh-ins kick off at 10 AM ET, but sadly there are no traditional weigh-ins scheduled for the evening. Join us right here, at LowKickMMA, for the updated UFC Fight Night 104 weigh-ins throughout the morning. We’ll look to add a live stream of the weigh-ins to the article as they arise.

Fresh off his deconstruction of BJ Penn, Yair Rodriguez sits in an interesting situation.
The former Ultimate Fighter: Latin America winner was expected to beat Penn, but with the way he did it, Rodriguez definitely left an impression.
So now, what’s next? “UFC Tonight’s” Kenny Florian tackled that issue Wednesday night.
“The winner of ‘Korean Zombie’ (Chan Sung Jung) and Dennis Bermudez,” Florian said. “Bermudez is an exciting fighter and has a wrestler background, and I’d like to see the striker Yair face a top wrestler. And Korean Zombie is always moving forward and applying pressure, which would be a challenge as well.”
Jung and Bermudez meet next month, which would line up for Rodriguez later this spring.

After taking over three years off from MMA for his mandatory South Korean military service, it looks like”The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung is returning to the UFC in style. Ariel Helwani is reporting at MMAFighting that Zombie vs. #8 featherweight contender Dennis Bermudez is the likely main event of the February 4th UFC Fight Night in Houston as part of Super Bowl weekend. It would be the 29 year old Jung’s first fight in a whopping 42 months, having last competed in a losing effort to then-champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163 on August 3, 2013.
The Korean Zombie got his nickname for his ability to walk through shots, and instantly made himself a fan favorite in his American debut, a wild brawl with Leonard Garcia in the featured prelim of the Aldo vs. Urijah Faber card. The #5 featherweight contender at the time of his hiatus, he had gotten his title shot as a late replacement coming off a 14 and a half month layoff. While he looked off and flat during that bout, that’s an outlier in his career as one of the sport’s best action fighters. With Bermudez, who’s also known for wild fights, as Zombie’s probable first opponent back, it seems like the UFC is banking on a class action fight of a main event for Super Bowl weekend.

Back in 2014, Chan Sung Jung shocked the MMA world by announcing that he would be leaving the sport behind to fulfill a two-year mandatory military service required in his native South Korea. Although he had spent the majority of the two years prior to that nursing various injuries, it was his final fight in the octagon — a back-and-forth battle with Jose Aldo at UFC 163 — that proved just how much of a terror he would be for 99% of the UFC’s top featherweights.
But mostly, we remember “The Korean Zombie” for the consistently epic brawls he engaged in while under both the WEC and UFC banners. Whether it was in losing efforts like his first fight against Leonard Garcia or in triumphs like his battle with Dustin Poirier, Jung quickly earned a reputation as one of the sport’s most entertaining 145ers.
With his service now coming to a close, sources close to Jung told MMAFighting that the former title challenger is looking to make his return to the cage sometime in late 2016 or early 2017. The Zombie is back, so to ring in the celebration, we’ve gathered as many of his fight videos and highlights as we were legally allowed to. Head after the jump for the full treatment.

First up, the fight that made Jung’s name: The 2010 Fight of the Year-winner against Leonard Garcia at WEC 48. Really, there are few words in the English language that accurately describe this fight, so we’ll just go with the first one we think of everytime we watch it: BUNGALOWS. Both men threw them, a lot, and while it was Jung who managed to consistently land them with far greater accuracy, it would be Garcia that would emerge victorious in the first of many inexplicable decision wins that “Bad Boy” would be handed.
After finding himself on the wrong end of a George Roop head kick in his next WEC fight, Jung was scooped up by the UFC during the WEC merger and immediately booked in a rematch against Garcia. It was a time when the UFC honestly attempted to do right by its fighters, crazy as it might sound, and the result was the 2011 Submission of the Year.
When Jung was paired up against Mark Hominick at UFC 140, most of us expected another classic barnburner would be added to Jung’s already prestigious record. Hominick himself had just come off a five round war with Jose Aldo — and in fact, appeared to be the fresher man when all was said and done despite having received a grapefruit-sized hematoma on his head — and hadn’t been finished inside the distance since 2008. So this being MMA and all, the fight was finished in less time than it takes to microwave a Pop Tart.
The Korean Zombie would build upon his momentum in his next fight against top-ranked featherweight Dustin Poirier (you can check out that fight here) — another fight that would earn him “Fight of the Year” honors — before facing Aldo in a title fight that would leave both competitors with more injuries than the average head-on collision.
With Jung’s return to the cage now in sight, we ask unto you, Nation: Who would you like to see him face first? Give us a shout in the comments section or on Twitter.
Chang Sung Jung is back! He’s been out of commission for over a year, but he’s finally just been booked for a fight. He’ll be facing Akira Corassani at UFC Fight Night 53 in Sweden. The card takes place on October 4th.
This will be the card’s co-main event.
Jung hasn’t fought since August 2013 at UFC 163. He lost to Jose Aldo in the fourth round via TKO–a fight in which “The Korean Zombie” dislocated his shoulder. The injury has sidelined him ever since. Before that fight, Jung had wowed audiences with a three-fight, three-finish winning streak over the likes of Leonard Garcia (when beating him still meant something), Mark Hominick, and Dustin Poirier. The fight against Corassani is an excellent chance for Jung to rebound (and maybe score another submission via twister).

Sweden’s Akira Corassani is also coming off a loss. Dustrin Poirier outworked and overpowered him at the TUF: Nations finale back in April. Corassani’s loss to Poirier snapped a three-fight winning streak (though one of those wins was due to Maximo Blanco disqualifying himself via an illegal knee, whatever).
Both fighters are currently 3-1 in the UFC. What a marketing angle that could be. “Somebody’s 3-1 has got to go!”
Seriously though, this is an interesting match that goes along with an equally interesting main event: Gunnar Nelson vs. Rick Story.
A Fight Night card with more than one match worth watching. What a treat!
We’ll post more UFC Fight Night 53 updates as we get them.
