In Case You’re Still Watching: TUF 19 Cast Revealed, Contains Zero Untested Yoga Instructors

(“So what *is* “Mahalo,” like a giant fish or something?” Photo via BJPenn.com)

We’re not sure if the full cast list for The Ultimate Fighter 19 was accidentally leaked or not yet, but being that the members of both *teams* were already revealed by a promo that has since been taken down, all signs seem to point to another technical snafu on FOX’s end. In any case, the information is out there now, and all we can do is pass it along in the hopes of deterring some of you from the premiere episode of yet another unnecessary season of a long dead show. Can you imagine what it would be like if Seinfeld went nineteen seasons? PULL THE PLUG ALREADY, DANA!!

This season’s TUF will feature middleweight and light heavyweight participants as well as the red hot coaching matchup of B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar, with Penn and Edgar completing their trilogy at featherweight next April. Although the season has already started filming, no official air date has been revealed and blah blah blah I’m already bored. Check out the full cast after the jump courtesy of BloodyElbow:

TEAM EDGAR
Corey Anderson (3-0)
Patrick Walsh (4-1)
Matt Van Buren (6-2)
Todd Monaghan (8-2)
Ian Stephens (2-0)
Dhiego Lima (9-1)
Eddie Gordon (6-1)
Hector Urbina (16-8-1)

TEAM PENN
Anton Berzin (3-1)
Josh Clark (7-2)
Daniel Spohn (8-3)
Chris Fields (10-5-1)
Mike King (5-0)
Tim Williams (8-1)
Cathal Pendred (13-2-1)
Roger Zapata (4-1)

That’s actually…not to bad a list of fighters (on paper, at least). Pendred is a training partner of Conor McGregor who holds a win over UFC veteran Che Mills and Lima is an American Top Team product with some solid wins as well. Absent from this list, however, are the untested, bashful yoga instructors we have grown accustomed to. YOU CAN’T KEEP PLAYING IT FAST AND LOOSE LIKE THIS, DANA!

Well, clearly someone needs to take his pills for the day. I’ll leave you to debate who stands the best chance of winning this season and how long they’ll last in the UFC.

J. Jones

At UFC 145, Jon Jones is fighting his former training partner and friend, Rashad Evans. Things have been said and this fight is a long time coming.

This fight will take place on April 21, 2012 in Atlanta, Georgia at the Philips Arena.

Strengths For Jon Jones

Length – Jones just has a tremendous wingspan and often has over 6 inches of reach advantage of most people he is fighting. Machida, Shogun Rua, and Quinton Jackson couldn’t land a punch on the rangier Jones. All 3 were defeated. All 3 were former champions as was Evans.

Variety – Jones really mixes up his striking and wrestling so that he is unpredictable. Between his greco throws and spinning elbows, Jones does some things no other fighter in mma pieces together.

Height – Jones’ height causes problems for a lot of fighters having to reach up to land.

Accuracy – Jones is highly accurate and usually it takes a few punches before Jones gets into a dominant position and finishes the fight.

Strengths For Rashad Evans

Elusiveness – Rashad’s footwork is constant as well as his head movement. Expect Jon Jones to take his time with Evans and try to find his timing. Evans makes it very difficult sort of like a light heavyweight Dominick Cruz.

Power – Rashad has more 1 punch knockouts and finishes than Jon Jones does.

Wrestling – I wouldn’t say his wrestling is a true advantage against Jones who himself is a very good wrestler in his own right. Although Jones doesn’t have the “pedigree”, Jones is plenty a good in this department. Evans has a very good wrestling get up game. He is hard to hold down. Jones is known for having a dominating/stifling top game.

Who Will Win? Evans or Jones?

Jones is overdue for being caught with something from somebody. The guy has avoided damage from everyone. Evans has always been a fighter with surprising fights and surprising strikes. Lidell, Salmon, that tall cowboy from the TUF finale….With Evans elusive striking and KO power and likely to be a huge underdog in this one. You have to think that Evans knows enough from training with Jones to know some his patterns and nuances. Same goes for Jones though there. I still can’t see how Evans wins this fight. With the extreme reach advantage and overall total fight control of Jon Jones, I gotta think he is winning this fight. As usual though, expect never die determination and surprises from Rashad. So if the odds are extremely out of whack, I might just be going with Rashad here.

Video: Sokoudjou vs. Jimmo Could Get Nasty Tomorrow Night

(Video courtesy of YouTube/mclhea)

Former Cage Potato guest blogger and current Maximum Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion Ryan “The Big Deal” Jimmo was able to get under his opponent Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou’s skin at the MFC weigh-ins today, eliciting a hearty shove from “The African Assassin.”

Jimmo has stated that Sokoudjou is his toughest opponent to date and that he plans on pulling thetrigger in the bout and finishing the former PRIDE and UFC veteran so he can punch his own ticket to the big show. If the altercation at the weigh-ins today is any indicator, both men will be looking to hurt the other.

Muhammad Lawal was on last night’s episode of Sportsnet’s MMA Connected and talked a little bit about his baby — a tricked out cherry red 1980 Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Here’s King Mo’s description of the car he calls his everyday ride:

"[It’s got] air bags, 22-inch rims, screens, ostrich interior — all that. It’s nice, dog," Lawal explained. "I can hit the switches and hop up on three front-to-back, side-to-side."
