Former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold is reportedly slated to snap his recent retirement from combat sports – booking a reported BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) outing with fellow Octagon veteran, Mike Perry.
Rockhold, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC and the now-defunct, Strikeforce, most recently featured at UFC 278 back in August of last year, taking on one-time title challenger, Paulo Costa.
Suffering his third consecutive defeat following losses to both Yoel Romero and Jan Blachowicz, Rockhold dropped a competitive unanimous decision loss to Costa, before informing UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan of his intentions to retire from mixed martial arts with immediate effect. Luke Rockhold would then formally confirm his retirement from active competition to the UFC.
However, according to an initial report from both MyMMANews, and BJPENN.com reporter, Cole Shelton, Luke Rockhold has penned a deal with the David Feldman-led BKFC banner to make a return to combat sports – booking a subsequent fight with UFC welterweight alum, Perry to boot at the middleweight limit of 185lbs.
“Hearing that the big news BKFC will drop on (Ariel) Helwani is that Luke Rockhold has signed and will fight Mike Perry,” MyMMANews tweeted. “Not sure this is ahs the big shockwave value they are hoping for, but of course, I would watch.”

Luke Rockhold struck UFC gold back in 2015 in a win over Chris Weidman
A former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Rockhold struck division gold in the co-main event of UFC 194 back in 2015, stopping Chris Weidman with a slew of eventual fourth-round ground strikes.
As for Perry, the polarizing Michigan native has enjoyed a successful transition to BKFC since his UFC departure, debuting with a decision win over Julian Lane back in February of last year.
Headlining a London outing for the promotion in August of last year, Perry defeated Bellator MMa welterweight contender, Michael Page in a majority decision triumph.
BKFC founder, Feldman also confirmed during his appearance on The MMA Hour how former UFC featherweight title challenger, Chad Mendes would make his return on the same card in a fight against former undisputed UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez — with the Philadelphia native making his first outing under the promotion’s banner at the super lightweight limit of 165lbs.
BKFC 41 takes place on April 29. from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

Former UFC and Strikeforce champion, Luke Rockhold, has stated that he would retire from all combat sports if he was unable to knockout Logan Paul in a potential boxing match.
Rockhold recently announced that he would be returning to combat sports after a brief retirement following his loss to Paulo Costa at UFC 278. Now free of his UFC contract, Rockhold is no longer limiting himself to solely focus on MMA, hinting at a potential boxing match with either of the Paul brothers.
In a recent interview with Inside Fighting, the former UFC 185lb champ revealed that he is currently in talks with Steve Espinosa and Nakisa Bidarian in regard to a potential boxing match with Logan Paul. When asked how he believes the fight would play out, should it be booked, Luke Rockhold stated:
“If I don’t knock him out, I’ll retire. I’ll retire for good. I mean, that’s done. But, I’m putting hands together.”
“If I don’t knock Logan Paul out cold, I’d be f****** out,” he continued. “I’m out, I guarantee it. No, not disappointment — I’d be f****** devastated. But, that ain’t gonna happen.” (H/T The Heavy).

Brad Tate has been working as a cutman in the UFC for as long as fans can remember. He can be spotted in most events inspecting fighters before they enter the Octagon and working on cuts and other injuries between rounds.
Despite not being a fighter, Tate has gradually become popular in MMA circles as one of the most consistent members of the UFC team like Bruce Buffer. He’s unsurprisingly developed great relationships with several UFC fighters, including Charles Oliveira, Daniel Cormier, Gilbert Burns, Jamahal Hill, and many more.
Tate has been dealing with mixed martial artists for almost a decade, and he’s now revealed a former UFC middleweight champion to be the toughest fighter to work with…
Cutman Tate Jokingly Claims No One Likes Luke Rockhold Except Daniel Cormier
Tate appeared on the Believe You Me podcast hosted by Michael Bisping recently. Right away, “The Count” asked the cutman for some gossip as he’s had countless interactions with the UFC roster.
To Bisping’s happiness, Tate called Luke Rockhold one of the worst fighters he’s had to work with in the UFC. In 2016 at UFC 199, Bisping knocked out Rockhold to win the UFC middleweight championship in what remains one of the biggest upsets in the sport to date.
Without going into much detail, Tate stated that Rockhold caused problems consistently. The cutman appreciated that Bisping took away the UFC middleweight championship from him which is enough to determine how much he dislikes Rockhold.
“I will give you the one person because he’s not in the UFC anymore and you fought him. F*****g Luke Rockhold was a pain in a**. Like, bro, listen to me, I know he was a good fighter. I don’t think anybody except DC like Luke Rockhold.”
Tate isn’t a fan of Rockhold calling out UFC fighters like Sean Strickland either, now that he’s left the promotion. He also added that criticism regarding his demeanor fueled the former UFC middleweight champion to act in the same manner instead of mending his ways.
“I see him now, and like, he was talking sh*t about Sean Strickland. And I’m like, nobody cares bro. Like this whole, Dana call me I’ll go in there and handle this for you. It’s like, dude, he was a problem like and he was just, dude, him losing the belt was like the best thing for him but like I said. I mean he’s not in the UFC anymore but he was the one guy that just, oh my god, even to just be around him, you would just be like, bro, why are you such a d**k? And honestly, you could tell him that he was a d**k and it just, I think that fueled him even more and made him even more like, yeah, let me be that way.”
The UFC cutman claims to have rarely had bad experiences with fighters which is why it is surprising how much he despises the time spent with Rockhold. Luckily, for him, it’s unlikely that the middleweight will ever return to the promotion following his loss to Paulo Costa at UFC 278.
