After the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) fined him a staggering $150,000 for his bottle-throwing incident at a UFC 202 pre-fight press conference in Las Vegas, Dana White recently revealed that featherweight champion Conor McGregor no longer wanted to fight in the State of Nevada again.

Now, “The Notorious” is back to confirm the sentiment, declaring he’d now rather fight in New York City, where he’ll meet lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event of November 12’s UFC 205, in an interview with Rolling Stone:

“I don’t see Nevada in my future, for the foreseeable future is how I see it,” McGregor says. “I’m free to do what I want. … I’m good. I’m good. New York, New York. That’s what I think.”

Taking an accepting attitude of his punishment, McGregor called into the NSAC hearing and was apologetic, believing the stance would aid his plight. But the NSAC, who have long been ‘notorious’ in their own right for handing out ridiculous suspensions and fines, had other ideas. His initial requested fine of $25,000 went up to five percent of his whopping $3 million purse for UFC 202.

The Irish star thought they would respect his agreement, but instead ‘fired the rounds off first’ in his opinion. That established, McGregor wished the NSAC good luck in obtaining the money from him:

“I thought they might respect [me calling in] a little bit more. I owned up. I manned up. I’m here. I apologized. I’m not trying to blame nobody, although they fired the rounds off first. I didn’t think they would even go that route because I didn’t think this was like a real thing. Are they going to come and arrest me or what the fuck is that? I wanted to give them the respect and I felt they would have respected that but they didn’t. So, whatever. It is what it is. Good luck trying to get it.”

Although he defeated Diaz by close majority decision at the record-breaking UFC 202, both men put on one of the best fights of the year and delivered the reported highest-grossing UFC pay-per-view (PPV) of all time in the process. They obviously made millions in the process, and McGregor doesn’t want Diaz’ money to go the commission just like he doesn’t want to give them his:

“I do not wish to see Nate get any more or any less than me,” McGregor said. “I don’t want to see either of us have something like this happen. But we’ll see. I don’t know. If they went that way on me I don’t know what way they’re going to go on him. He threw the bottle first, but I don’t wish he get more than me or anything like that. I just wish we’d get it sorted out and get on with it and carry on.”

‘Notorious’ offered his own specific view of the scene in closing, reaffirming his wishes at the NSAC actually getting the fine money:

“Respect to them. They wanted me to pay them and work for them at the same time. How can I not respect that? Good luck to them.”

So the gloves are off between Conor McGregor and the NSAC. Let’s just hope there aren’t any loose cans of Monster Energy Drink nearby.

The chance of it actually happening was always next to nothing, but it seems like the prospect of a Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather bout just won’t seem to go away.

It was close to being on the verge of gone, with Mayweather recently stating it was time to move on. However, McGregor brought the ridiculous potential super fight up yet again at last week’s UFC 205 press conference, adding that he might move on to face ‘Money’ after he was done with Eddie Alvarez at the UFC’s massive event from New York City.

But UFC President Dana White isn’t buying that. The outspoken exec met up with TMZ Sports (transcribed by Bloody Elbow) to give his opinion that the fight was never happening, and the two don’t actually want to throw down:

In White’s opinion, the fact that the two combatants ruled different sports was one of the main factors of it not happening. And as expected, White deemed it a ruse for the sake of money:

TMZ: “They’ve been talking a lot about this McGregor/Mayweather thing. Do you still think it’s going to happen?”

White: “No. I never thought it was going to happen.”

TMZ: “You never thought it was going to happen?”

White: “No. Two totally different sports!”

White then moved on to remind people McGregor was currently under contract with the UFC, something that means a McGregor vs. Mayweather bout would be difficult to make happen even if the two superstars wanted it to:

TMZ: “Because McGregor and Mayweather seem to want to make it happen, badly.”

White: “They seem to want the money, probably! But I don’t know how bad they actually want to make that a reality. Listen, Conor’s under contract with me. We can start with kicks, punches, and elbows.”

McGregor is set to break his own pay-per-view records when he meets Alvarez at arguably the biggest MMA event of all time on November 12. If he beats “The Underground King” to earn a second UFC title, it’s anyone’s guess as to where ‘The Notorious’ will go next.

Just don’t count on him fighting Mayweather anytime soon, at least according to White.

Knockout machine and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will attempt to punch his way towards a second title at November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York when he takes on reigning 155-pound champion Eddie Alvarez. After two fights at welterweight against Nate Diaz, the 145-pound titleholder will look to become the first man in promotional history to hold two titles simultaneously, and his striking coach, Owen Roddy, has no issue seeing this taking place.

Although he did note that McGregor will have to prepare for Alvarez’s wrestling, Roddy said on a recent edition of Submission Radio that it’ll only be ‘a matter of time before Alvarez goes to sleep’:

“I honestly never really change my prediction because I see what Conor does day in, day out in the gym. I see how clean his striking is and I see how powerful he is. And I honestly think Alvarez has been dropped a few times and stuff like that. So I mean, that’s not good knowing when you’re going in to fight Conor McGregor. If you’ve been dropped before and you’re going in fighting Conor McGregor, there’s a very, very high chance that you’re going to be dropped again. Alvarez is a great wrestler, so there will be things we’ll be working on with Conor to make sure that Alvarez can’t keep a hold of him, can’t keep him against the fence, but Conor’s gonna land and I think it’s going to be a matter of time before Alvarez goes to sleep to be totally honest.”

McGregor himself also predicted a first round finish over “The Silent Assassin” at last week’s press conference.

As far as the striking department goes, McGregor may indeed hold the advantage over Alvarez, who’s coming off of a brutal stoppage victory over Rafael dos Anjos last July. The Irishman, however, has suffered all three of his career losses by way of submission which could boost Alvarez’s confidence as the champion likely has the superior grappling.

In the end, styles make fights, and this ‘super fight’ should prove to be an exciting contest.

Who do you see taking home lightweight gold next month?

Conor McGregor is headed for the biggest fight of his career when he meets Eddie Alvarez in the main event of November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden, but apparently there’s he’s going through some “personal stuff” which will be revealed after his bid to become the first concordant two-class weight class champ.

And apparently it’s going to be something quite surprising, as UFC President Dana White recently revealed on MMA Podcast (via Champions.co) that he wrestled with McGregor to vacate his featherweight belt, but other factors played into the decision:

“Listen, I battled this thing forever. [Holding onto both belts] is not fair to Jose Aldo, it’s not fair to Khabib and Max Holloway. So, believe me, I battled with this thing but there are … how can I say this? There are other circumstances involved in this that will be played out after the fight.”

“It’s something completely out of left field but it’s Conor’s business, it’s not mine, and I’ll let Conor announce it when he’s ready to.”

Just what that news may be is already being fervently thrown about the rumor mill as expected, with possibilities ranging from his long-rumored fight with Floyd Mayweather to him breaking up with longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin – and of course the other side of the coin involves a rumor that Devlin is pregnant.

It all’s nothing but rumor at this point, however, and it will supposedly be revealed right after what should be the biggest MMA event of all time in New York.

Everyone already knew Conor McGregor is the highest-paid star in the UFC, but the numbers he’s claimed to earn this year -and his own valuation of his worth to his employers – are truly staggering numbers.

‘The Notorious’ set the MMA world on fire earlier this week at the UFC 205 press conference form The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, and not surprisingly, his record-setting paydays were at the center of his beloved trash talk.

With a potentially record-breaking lightweight championship bout against Eddie Alvarez scheduled for the main event of the UFC’s New York debut on November 12, McGregor plans to add another monstrous payday to the two already-huge hauls he gained for his electric rivalry with Nate Diaz, and at the presser, he revealed it would all add up to a massive payday never before heard of in MMA (via FOX Sports):

“By the time 2016 closes out, I’ll be closing in on $40 million. This is a $40 million dollar year for me. It’s been a damn good year.”

The same could certainly be said for the UFC as a whole, as the company recently sold to talent group WME-IMG for a record-setting $4.2 billion, the largest sale in sports history. Much of that number can be attributed to McGregor’s still-skyrocketing success rate, which brought him two of the top three pay-per-view numbers in UFC history in 2016, and it’s hardly a surprise that ‘The Notorious’ knows it.

When asked what he believed his valuation to the company was he responded with quite the exact number:

“$4.2 billion dollars,” McGregor said. “That’s what I’m worth to this company.”

A brash proclamation to be sure, but that’s what McGregor has long been known for by now. It’s also hard to argue wth his price tag, because as arguably the biggest star in MMA history, his value is limitless – evident by his calling the shots in keeping his never-defended featherweight title bout to hold up the division while fighting at welterweight and for the lightweight title.

Who can argue with him? Certainly not his bosses, who are enjoying the spoils of his record-setting numbers. McGregor’s making quite the sum himself, but according to him, he’s simply the “$4.2 billion-dollar man.”

Conor McGregor made it clear that he loves New York during yesterday’s UFC 205 press conference from Madison Square Garden, but he may be enjoying it a bit TOO much heading into his lightweight title fight against Eddie Alvarez in the main event of the UFC’s New York debut on November 12.

That is, if the burning cigarette he’s holding in this photo of him partying in NYC last night is actually a joint. McGregor posted the following photo on Instagram earlier today, and from the look of things, he”s living it up in a big way. The truth of the matter remains unknown, but it’s going to be something that USADA most certainly takes note of nonetheless.

In the meantime, check out the photo and decide for yourself:

We run New York
