Just 21 days after UFC Middleweight Kevin Holland entered the octagon to take on Derek Brunson, he will once return to face rising prospect Marvin Vettori on short notice.

In a report by ESPN, sources confirmed that the matchup would be going down, confirming earlier reports from both Holland and Vettori themselves.

The bout was initially scheduled to be Darren Till taking on Vettori, however, Till was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an injury during training.

Holland’s quick return comes after he was defeated by a unanimous decision on March 20. This return ties both Michael Bisping and Deiveson Figueiredo for the shortest turnaround between main event fights in UFC history.

In 2020 Holland rose to fame thanks to his active fighting schedule and passion for trash talk. The middleweight put on five winning performances over the calendar with the most impressive coming in December when he knocked out UFC legend Jacare Souza with a brutal shot off his back.

While competing Holland would also taunt his opponents with words, an act that while unique to him many saw as the reason for his most recent main event loss to Brunson.

Vettori is coming into this fight off a win against Jack Hermansson in a grueling five-round main event war. This bout was also on short notice for the Italian who was set to face Souza himself before replacing Till to take on Hermansson.

The main event position of this bout brings high stakes for both fighters, more so Vettori who with a win could put himself into the title conversation.

Following his unsuccessful bid at the Light-heavyweight title, Israel Adesanya will be returning to Middleweight once again and his next opponent will be drawn from one of few key matchups taking place in the division including the upcoming main event.

A short-notice middleweight headliner between Marvin Vettori and Kevin Holland is seemingly official for UFC Vegas 24.

Vettori was originally set to take on Darren Till at the Fight Night event taking place April 10 at the Apex facility in Las Vegas. However, he had to pull out earlier this week after suffering a broken collarbone.

Holland was quick to throw his name in the hat and had already accepted a short-notice fight with Vettori. All that was required was the green light from Vettori’s side.

Two days later and the fight is seemingly official as per Holland.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani would confirm the fight as well.

“‘See you April 10,’ Kevin Holland says. Kevin Holland x Marvin Vettori is signed for April 10. Five rounds.”

It will also tie the record for the shortest layoff in between main event fights.

“Holland just fought on March 20. So he will tie records set by Michael Bisping and Deiveson Figueiredo, who went 21 days between main events, per @ESPNStatsInfo.”

Holland, of course, fought late last month when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Derek Brunson.

It snapped a five-fight winning streak for “Big Mouth” who continues to prove he’s willing to fight anyone, anytime by stepping in to fight Vettori just 21 days later.

As for Vettori, he is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jack Hermansson. He has also won his last four in a row.

Kevin Holland has offered to step in for Darren Till.

It was announced earlier today that Till would no longer be competing against Marvin Vettori in the UFC Vegas 23 headliner taking place April 10 due to a broken collarbone.

That naturally didn’t come as pleasing news for Vettori who has had a history of opponents failing to show up or pulling out.

“Always do my part 100% and these bunch of pussies can’t make it,” Vettori wrote. “Im next in line for the title, whoever has something to say show the fuck up in 2 weeks so I can whoop your ass and shut you off for good.”

Fortunately for Vettori, there is one middleweight who is down to fight anyone, anytime in Holland.

Holland — who went 5-0 in 2020 — has already accepted a short-notice fight with Vettori despite only losing a unanimous decision to Derek Brunson 10 days ago.

“I already accepted the fight an hour ago….. #callbigmouth”

All that is left is for Vettori’s side to agree to the fight.

“Kevin Holland has accepted to step in on short notice versus Marvin Vettori on April 10. His team says they are waiting on a reply from the other side, I’m told.”

Darren Till

UFC on ABC 2 has last one half of it’s middleweight main event.

Darren Till recently took to social media to announce he is out of the fight due to injury.

“I’ve been sat here for a good few hours debating how to say this & put into words what I’m feeling & just going to say it straight… IVE BROKEN MY COLLARBONE! I’m out my fight next week against Marvin,” Till began. “Every person who is around me or who has been around me knows I train on a daily basis with fucked up knees, lower back, shoulders, hands and the list goes on. Yesterday while drilling I fell and straight away I knew I’d broken something. To say I’m fucking destroyed by it is an understatement. I’ve literally put my heart, soul, mind, physical body, cash, nutrition, sleep, recovery & then some into making sure I went out there next week & took his head off. And I was 100% sure I was going to… and with ease!!!
I’m sure he was thinking the same but ahh well…I am sorry @marvinvettori I hope you get a new opponent and we can do this sometime soon in the future, I respect you highly as a competitor.

“Funny story while we are on a subject of injuries, me and @stevengerrard have got the same doctor to fill us full of needles when we are going through severe pain or we did have the same because he’s retired now & the Doctor laughs every time he sees me and says it reminds me of him, no cartilage left but still willing to do anything to perform not letting injuries get in the way, and that is exactly how I am, that’s why I’m disgusted when I see half of these so called fighters crying off little ankle or toe injuries… get to fuck I want to say to all my supporters, I fucking love your support banter and the love you show me, it doesn’t go un-noticed. My team I love you all @teamkaobon ? My management @mtkglobal & Daniel kinahan. What these do as a management is untold. ? Big thank you as always to @danawhite & Hunter they do not get enough credit for the lengths they go to and beyond One thing, I know who doesn’t support me in this sport and I want you to keep that same energy as the new generation say Mark my words I will do anything and everything to become Middleweight world champion Peace see you all soon Even got the UFC to change the times of the Vegas event for the 1st time in history for us Europeans. Power moves.”

Vettori took to social media soon after to react to the news.

“Always do my part 100% and these bunch of pussies can’t make it,” Vettori wrote. “Im next in line for the title, whoever has something to say show the fuck up in 2 weeks so I can whoop your ass and shut you off for good.”
