A heated middleweight clash between Karl Roberson and Marvin Vettori has been rescheduled for next month.

That’s according to MMA Fighting stating it will take place June 13, citing multiple people close to the situation. There is no announcement as of yet but it should be made official soon as more details come about the event.

Roberson, Vettori To Finally Collide

Roberson and Vettori were originally scheduled to face each other at UFC Jacksonville last week. However, the fight was canceled when Roberson was unable to compete on the night of the event after being diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis.

Vettori — who had a heated staredown with Roberson on the day of weigh-ins — was not pleased at the time and lashed out at his opponent leading to a near physical altercation.

It looks like they will finally get to throw down in just over three week’s time.

Vettori is on a two-fight winning streak with his last win coming in October last year against Andrew Sanchez. He has struggled to land a fight since due to a number of circumstances including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Roberson is also on a two-fight winning streak with his last win being a submission of Roman Kopylov at UFC Moscow back in November.

The UFC was originally planning to hold its debut show in Kazakhstan on June 13. However, it looks like the promotion will now be hosting most of its future events at the Apex facility in Las Vegas.

There are no further fights planned for the June 13 card as of yet.

A middleweight match-up between Marvin Vettori and Karl Roberson was supposed to open up tonight’s main card at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. According to Ariel Helwani, that fight has now been pulled from the bill with Roberson becoming unwell after enduring a tough weight cut.

“Tonight’s Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori fight is off, per multiple sources,” Helwani wrote on Twitter. “Roberson fell ill after a tough weight cut. Non-COVID related. More shortly.”

Roberson was the only fighter to miss weight ahead of tonight’s card. The 29-year-old came in 1.5lbs over the middleweight limit of 186lbs. He was fined 20% of his purse which was awarded to Vettori. The fight was due to go ahead at a catchweight of 187.5lbs.

‘Baby K’ has enjoyed some good form since dropping down in weight. He has beaten Wellington Turman and Roman Kopylov in successive fights. Roberson last lost against Glover Teixeira who coincidentally headlines tonight’s event alongside top light-heavyweight contender Anthony Smith. Vettori is in good form himself. The Italian has won two straight since losing against middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in 2018. He’s riding back-to-back wins over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez. Vettori was originally expected to fight Darren Stewart at UFC London in March. The bout was scrapped and today’s news means the Italian will probably have to wait a little longer to fight.

All the fighters who were scheduled to compete at UFC London will receive payment despite not fighting due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The event was set to take place at the O2 Arena in London, England on March 21. However, six days out from fight night coronavirus concerns, travel issues and government guidelines meant the card was scrapped.

UFC President Dana White tried to save the event by moving it to America but was ultimately forced to postpone the show in London and his following two events in Columbus and Portland.

Some fighters who were due to compete on the card have taken to social media to confirm they have been or will be paid their show money.

Italian middleweight Marvin Vettori thanked the UFC for taking care of him during these difficult times and said its nice his hard work is recognized by the promotion.

“Thank to the @ufc for taking care of me for the London card situation, I’ve been all in from day 1 in this and it’s good to see that even in hard times like these the work im doing is being recognized. Always ready always working.  Thank you @ufc @danawhite @Mickmaynard2.”

Nicolas Dalby was due to meet Danny Roberts in an early anticipated co-main even match-up. He also took to social media to thank the UFC for paying him despite the fact he hadn’t actually fought.

“As a fighter AND a father & family provider I would like to take a moment to thank @seanshelby, @danawhite and @ufc for stepping up and taking care of us fighters from the cancelled #UFCLondon event! These times are taking a huge hit on all of us, even UFC. So I really commend you for helping us get through this tough period so we can take care of our families and stay ready to fight as soon as possible and once again put on exciting fights for the fans, in the best fight promotion in the world ?????? #Thankful | #GoodKarma | #StaySafe”
