Former two-time UFC welterweight contender, Jorge Masvidal has revealed a series of messages from Michel Pereira’s partner, Gina Amir Atelier – claiming that the latter had initially attempted to make contact with him, after Pereira alleged that Masvidal had first contacted her, in a bid to add fuel to a potential future fight.

Pereira, who co-headlined UFC Vegas 55 last weekend, managed to land his fifth consecutive victory, besting Masvidal’s American Top Team stablemate, Santiago Ponzinibbio with a split decision win. The outing earned both Pereira and Ponzinibbio Fight of the Night honors.

Following the triumph, Pereira once again echoed calls for a fight against Stockton fan-favorite, Nate Diaz, however, also alleged that the above mentioned, Masvidal had texted his partner, and explained how he would like to find out why Masvidal had made contact – in the Octagon in the future.

“I have a little bit of a problem with him (Jorge Masvidal), and I want to settle it,” Michael Pereira told assembled media. “He sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the hands together like, ‘amen.’ He sent it to my wife. He didn’t send it to me. I’ve never actually crossed paths with him. I didn’t have a chance to ask him, so I figured I really want to understand. But I might as well understand inside the Octagon, settle it over there.”

In response to Pereira’s claims, Masvidal leaked his Instagram direct message exchange with the Brazilian’s partner, claiming his fellow welterweight contender was attempting to use his partner to secure a “paycheck”.

“How crazy a world and how far has society fallen that this idiot @UfcPereira would use his wife to hopefully 1 day get a paycheck and create a fake narrative to try and get a fight with me when clearly he sees she slid in my dm?” Jorge Masvidal tweeted. “Wishing you guys the best #marriageconselor.”

Jorge Masvidal has swiftly stepped forward to share the receipts of the DM history between himself and Michel Pereira’s wife after being accused of sending her an emoji.

Following his win in the UFC Vegas 55 co-main event over Santiago Ponzinibbio, one of the fighters Michel Pereira called out was none other than Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal. The reason was a bit random if not bizarre, which was the Brazilian’s accusation that Masvidal sent his wife a prayer emoji.

Pereira stated that he did not know why Masvidal sent his wife this emoji, but he intended to find out through violence inside the UFC Octagon.

Being that Masvidal has been very vocal about families being off-limits when it comes to trash talk, that made Pereira’s claim that Masvidal was sliding into the DMs of his peers’ wives all the more interesting.

However, Masvidal would take measures to nip this narrative in the bud, as he responded to Pereira’s accusation by sharing the DM history between himself and Pereria’s wife.

“How crazy a world and how far has society fallen that this idiot @UfcPereira would use his wife to hopefully 1 day get a paycheck and create a fake narrative to try and get a fight with me when clearly he sees she slid in my dm? Wishing you guys the best #marriagecounselor

The DM history shows Pereira’s wife contacting Masvidal first, stating “Kill it! You got this!” in March of last year.

And it is then, and only then, that “Street Jesus” blessed Pereira’s wife with the prayer emoji.

Time will tell if this update will ease the tension between Masvidal and Pereira or cause new tensions within the Pereira household.

UFC middleweight Chidi Njokuani earned his second straight post-fight bonus with an elbow strike knockout over Dusko Todorovic at UFC Vegas 55.

Njokuani fought off a series of Todorovic takedown attempts to get the fight back to the feet. A well-renowned kickboxer, he was able to move Todorovic to the clinch before landing a right elbow strike that sent Todorovic unconscious.

Check out Njokuani’s finish below.

Earlier this year, Njokuani earned another performance bonus for his TKO over Marc-Andre Barriault in his UFC debut. He earned a shot in the UFC following an up-and-down tenure in Bellator, followed by a win on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Njokuani wasn’t the only one who cashed in after scoring a big finish. Featherweight prospect Chase Hooper got back on track in his UFC career with a third-round TKO win over Felipe Colares on the prelims.

Hooper had been away from the Octagon for nearly a year since his loss to Steven Peterson at UFC 263. The 22-year-old showed massive improvements with his striking after being well-known for years as a grappling-first athlete.

In the UFC Vegas 55 co-main event, welterweights Santiago Ponzinibbio and Michel Pereira put on a three-round war at the UFC Apex. After 15 minutes of action, Pereira earned a split decision to win his fifth straight fight.

The bout earned ‘Fight of the Night’ with both Pereira and Ponzinibbio earning an extra $50k each.

Pereira has picked up wins over the likes of Niko Price, Khaos Williams, and Andre Fialho since losing two of his first three UFC fights.

The UFC Vegas 55 main event featured a split-decision win for Ketlen Vieira over former bantamweight champion Holly Holm.

Michel Pereira, Jorge Masvidal

UFC welterweight Michel Pereira called out Jorge Masvidal in his post-fight octagon interview at UFC Vegas 55.

This past weekend, Michel Pereira returned to action for the second time this year to take on Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night 206: Holm vs. Vieira. In a close-fought contest that went the distance, Pereira managed to come out on top by a split decision. As good of a performance as he had delivered, the real talks surrounded his words on the mic.

Michel Pereira said Jorge Masvidal DM’d his wife

In the post-fight interview inside the octagon, ‘Demolidor’ took his shot to call out Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal. Both welterweights are well past their prime and have the star power to make big money fights. A potential fight against either of the two will likely translate to a significantly bigger paycheck for the other fighter.

While many believed their ability to generate cash to be the main source of Pereira’s call out, the 28-year-old Brazilian revealed a more personal reason behind his actions. During the post-fight press conference at UFC Vegas 55, Michel Pereira was asked about his claims of having a problem with Jorge Masvidal, and why he really wanted to fight him.

“So, he sent an emoji to my wife,” Pereira said. “The emoji with the two hands together (like this, Amen). He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me. I never actually cross paths with him, never had the chance to ask him. So I figured, I really won’t understand but might as well stay inside the octagon. So just, settle over there.”

Considering how Jorge Masvidal has spent the last three months embroiled in the controversy surrounding his alleged physical altercation with Colby Covington, a return to fighting may look far-fetched anytime soon. Pereira has only been in the UFC for three years and scoring a big draw in his next fight may not fit the promotion’s plans well.

The main card for UFC Vegas 55 featured four decisions and some controversial scorecards, particularly in the women’s bantamweight main event between Ketlen Vieira and Holly Holm.

Ketlen Vieira claimed a narrow split-decision victory for the biggest win of her career against former champion Holly Holm. The Brazilian earned 48-47 cards from two judges, while the third judge scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Holm.

The third round of the fight ended up being the difference on the scorecards, likely due to Vieira appearing to rock Holm late in the round. She also very nearly submitted the former champion in the second round.

In the co-main event, Michel Pereira improved his welterweight win streak to five with his own split-decision over Santiago Ponzinibbio. All three judges agreed that Pereira took the first round, but rounds two and three were much less clear. Pereira ended up walking away with a 30-27 and 29-28 scorecard to get the victory.

The results of the main and co-main events brought the event full-circle, as the main card opening bout between middleweights Eryk Anders and Junyong Park also went to a split decision. Park ended up getting the nod in a back-and-forth fight where none of the three rounds received a unanimous score from the judges.

In the only unanimous decision on the main card, Tabatha Ricci picked up her second UFC victory against fellow Brazilian Polyana Viana. “Baby Shark” won rounds 2 and 3 on all three judge’s scorecards.

The only fight of the UFC Vegas 55 main card to not go the distance was the middleweight bout between Chidi Njokuani and Duško Todorovi?. After Todorovi? was able to use his wrestling to control the majority of the opening round, Njokuani landed a vicious elbow to get the knockout victory.

Michel Pereira would like to know why Jorge Masvidal decided to go all “Street Jesus” with his wife.

At UFC Vegas 55, Michel Pereira emerged the victor of a hotly contested co-main event against #14-ranked welterweight contender Santiago Ponzinibbio. The fight took home Fight of the Night honors, and Pereira will all but surely find himself in the UFC rankings come Tuesday.

After such a significant victory, it is commonplace for reporters to ask whom the big winner would like to fight next. Pereira had two names on his tongue, one uttered with praise, the other laced with venom.

“I really want to fight Nate Diaz because I think it’d be really fun to slap each other around. I think it’d be a really fun fight. I think we (would) put on a show for all the fans,” Pereira said during the UFC Vegas 55 post-fight press conference.

“And also, Jorge Masvidal because I have a little bit of a problem with him, and I want to settle it.”

Pereira Wants “Street Jesus” To Atone For His Emoji

That naturally begged the question of what exactly was the nature of this problem. As it happens, it consists of Masvidal contacting his wife with an emoji. The Brazilian did not add much context behind this revelation, but that could be because he wants answers himself.

Nevertheless, instead of sitting in a confessional with “Street Jesus,” Pereira would much rather go straight to the atonement, with any possible repentance being temporarily stalled.

“So he sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the two hands together like (“amen”). He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me. And you know, I never actually crossed paths with him, never had the chance to ask him. So I figured, you know, I really want to understand, but might as well understand inside the Octagon. So we’ll just settle it over there.”

Jorge Masvidal currently has his plate full with the felony battery charges he is battling after allegedly attacking Colby Covington outside a Miami restaurant after UFC 272. However, he has expressed interest in a fight against Gilbert Burns after Burns called him out first.

The other name mentioned by Pereira was Nate Diaz, whom Pereira has called out in the past.

Given the two selected names, it would appear that Pereira wants to establish himself in the BMF ranks following his placement in the UFC rankings. And if he so happens to defend the honor of his emoji-stricken wife in the process, all the sweeter.
