Mike Tyson has put to rest any claims that he and Jake Paul had agreed to a Boxing match.

It was reported earlier during the week that Tyson and Paul had verbally agreed to a deal worth up to $50 Million.

An associate of Tyson revealed the fight would headline a pay-per-view in Las Vegas.

“Mike and Jake are on board for an exhibition bout in Las Vegas. A verbal deal has been struck to get it on, but like all forms of sports business, now it’s all about the contracts and money split.” A source told The Sun.

“Mike is looking for a certain figure to get into the ring with a profit share guarantee. Jake obviously has that on his mind but is keen to show the world that stepping into the ring with a man once called the baddest man on the planet, takes his boxing career to the next level. This fight bridges the gap between old school boxing fans and the new generation of followers.”

However, it appears now that the two fighting was just speculation as Tyson himself took to social media to reveal he had heard nothing of the sort.

“This is new to me,” Tyson wrote on Twitter. “I saw Jake in St. Barths and he never mentioned it.”

Should Mike Tyson fight Jake Paul?

It’s no secret that Paul has had a meteoric rise in the sport of boxing, he is yet to take on any professional boxers and is still one of the biggest names in the sport currently. Fresh of his victory over Tyron Woodley in December it looks like Paul is ready to step back in, but is Mike Tyson the right man for him to face?

Tyson also returned to boxing in recent years when he took on Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout in November 2020 but has not entered the ring since, a card of which Jake Paul also fought on when he knocked out Nate Robinson. Whether the fight comes true is one thing but there is no denying it would attract a fight like this would attract a lot of followers for boxing.

If you’re interested in seeing a boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, don’t get too excited.

The boxing legend recently took to social media to deny reports of a potential fight between them. Tyson took to Twitter on Monday in response to a report, stating that he didn’t even know about this matchup. He also claimed he recently saw Paul in person and that discussions of a fight didn’t come up.

“This is [fight] new to me,” said Tyson on social media. “I saw Jake in St. Barths and he never mentioned it.”

Tyson was replying to a report released earlier today by The Sun Online that stated Tyson and Paul had verbally agreed to fight

Jake Paul is coming off an active 2021 campaign. First, he knocked out Ben Askren in April before fighting Tyron Woodley twice before the close of the year. First, he defeated Woodley via split decision in August. Then, he knocked out the former UFC champion on December 18.

Earlier boxing appearances saw him knock out former NBA player Nate Robinson in November 2020 and another KO win over YouTuber AnEsonGib in January of the same year.

Tyson, a former heavyweight prizefighter with a decorated record, last fought as a pro in 2005. However, he made his return to action in 2020, fighting fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition contest. The fight didn’t count towards either fighter’s pro records, but was scored a draw after eight rounds of action.

After the fight, Tyson mentioned his plans to keep his fighting career going.

Tyson, now 55 years old, is best recognized for his run as a heavyweight champion in the 1980s and 1990s.

Mike Tyson is in the advanced stages of talks for a fight with Jake Paul according to a report from The Sun.

A source who counts ‘Iron Mike’ as a business associate says if all goes to plan the mega-money match-up will take place 2later this year.

If all goes to plan’ then the fight is on,” the anonymous source said. “Mike and Jake are on board for an exhibition bout in Las Vegas. A verbal deal has been struck to get it on, but like all forms of sports business, now it’s all about the contracts and money split.

“Mike is looking for a certain figure to get into the ring with a profit share guarantee. Jake obviously has that on his mind but is keen to show the world that stepping into the ring with a man once called the baddest man on the planet, takes his boxing career to the next level.

Tyson ended his 15-year retirement from boxing in 2020 when he fought Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout. The former heavyweight king looked good and was able to dictate the eight-round fight. Tyson can consider himself unlucky to have come away from the bout with just a draw.

On the Tyson-Jones undercard, YouTube star turned professional boxer Jake Paul stretched his perfect record to 2-0 with a sensational KO win over former NBA star Nate Robinson.

Since then, Paul has continued to pursue a career in boxing without actually facing any boxers. The 25-year-old has fought two MMA champions in Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley (x2) stretching his undefeated record to 5-0 in the process.

The internet celebrity made in excess of $40 million from boxing in 2021. If a fight with Tyson comes to fruition, he seems set for another bumper year.

Off the back of a spectacular one-punch knockout win over former UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley last weekend, Jake Paul has revealed his professional boxing bucket list – which features future fights with middleweight kingpin, Canelo Alvarez, as well as UFC president, Dana White.

Outspoken Ohio native, Paul, improved to 5-0 as a professional boxer last weekend in Tampa, Florida – stopping the aforenoted former UFC welterweight best, Woodley with a stunning sixth round knockout in the pair’s short-notice rematch under the Showtime banner.

Paul, who had previously defeated Woodley in close split decision showing back in April of this year, was slated to meet with the 7-0 Manchester native, Tommy Fury last weekend in the ‘Sunshine State’ – until the latter was forced to withdraw, citing a cold and a broken rib.

Following his jaw-dropping knockout win over Woodley, Paul immediately called for fights with more UFC welterweights; Jorge Masvidal, and Nate Diaz, as well as echoing calls for a fight with former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor.

Jake Paul plans fights with former and current world champions, as well as UFC president, Dana White

However, the 24-year-old Jake Paul released a five-man boxing bucket list today on his social media, which features the quintet of opponents; Canelo Alvarez, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, and UFC leader, Dana White.

For Canelo, the Jalisco maestro boasts a 57-1-2 professional record, most recently stopping Caleb Plant with eleventh round strikes to clinch the IBF super middleweight title – as well as retaining his WBA, WBC, WBO super middleweight crowns.

Mayweather, a retired former multi-weight and multi-time world champion, retired from professional boxing back in August 2017 following a knockout win over the aforenoted, McGregor, however, returned for an exhibition boxing match with Jake Paul’s elder brother, Logan Paul earlier this year.

Similarly, Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight kingpin and one of the most feared strikers in the history of the sport, returned last year for an exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Jr. – with an official result undetermined.

As for the elder-Fury brother, the undefeated 32-0-1 boxer is the current WBC heavyweight champion, most recently taking home a penultimate knockout win over Deontay Wilder back in October to retain his crown.

UFC president, White, has never competed professionally, however, was continually linked to a grudge match against former promotional light heavyweight champion, Tito Ortiz back in 2007, however, the bout failed to come to fruition.

Prior to last weekend’s win over Woodley, Jake Paul spoke in brash fashion about White, claiming that the longtime promotional president has both issues with cocaine and soliciting prostitutes.

Khamzat Chimaev has revealed that he was invited to make an appearance on Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin podcast and explained why he decided to turn it down.

‘The Wolf’ says that he respects what Tyson has achieved as a fighter but has been less than impressed by the heavyweight boxing legends’ behaviour outside of the ring.

“Ali said Mike Tyson also wants something, but I didn’t go. I didn’t have much desire to do that,” Chimaev said on The  Hustle MMA podcast. “As a fighter, an athlete, I really like him. But I don’t like what all happened with him – The violence, the pills, the marijuana, then Muslims, it’s strange. But I still respect him – Both as a fighter and as a person. He went through a lot of things and because of this, he broke down, did a lot of bad things. And no one knows what will happen to me. It can happen to anyone. A good, normal person, but something happens and you end up in a mental hospital. I don’t judge anyone, but I just didn’t want to go.” (Transcribed by Sportskeeda)

Khabib Nurmagomedov & Khamzat Chimaev Share Similar Views On Mike Tyson

In August, Khabib Nurmagomedov made an appearance on Tyson’s podcast. After sharing what appeared to be a nice chat with the boxing icon, Nurmagomedov spoke publicly about not particularly enjoying his appearance on the Hotboxin Podcast, comparing Tyson unfavourably to football star Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I didn’t like his look,” Nurmagomedov said. “I told him right away to get rid of all the things like smoke on the table. I didn’t like being there. I liked more the way Cristiano Ronaldo looked. He looks like an athlete.”

Do you think Khamzat Chimaev made the right call by rejecting an offer to appear on Mike Tyson’s podcast?
