Rap star, Drake has revealed he has slapped a whopping $1,000,000 wager on UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya to successfully defend his divisional title this weekend in the main event of UFC 276 – picking the Nigerian-Kiwi to score a triumph against Jared Cannonier.

Israel Adesanya, who headlines UFC 276 this weekend during International Fight Week, attempts to secure his fifth successful defense of the middleweight championship, taking on the #2 rated challenger, Cannonier.

Last time out, the City Kickboxing staple managed to hand former champion and two-time foe, Robert Whittaker a unanimous decision loss in the main event of UFC 271 in February.

On that same Toyota Center card, Cannonier eanred his premier title challenge under the promotion’s banner – knocking out common-opponent, Derek Brunson with a slew of brutal second round ground elbows.

Drake backs Israel Adesanya to land a win over Jared Cannonier — placing a $1,000,000 bet

Entering this weekend’s T-Mobile Arena showdown as a clear and distinct favorite, Adesanya spoke with the aforenoted rapper, Drake ahead of his fight with Cannonier – with the Canadian superstar revealing he has splashed a cool $1,000,000 bet on the former to defend his undisputed championship.

“I already know what time it is, you know, I put a light million up,” Drake said during a FaceTime call with Israel Adesanya. “The return on investment is a lot. I just wanna wish you luck and I love you, brother. You’re different, you’re a different guy, bro, I have a deep, deep, deep level of respect for you. … For sure, I gotta walk you out.”

“You know what’s crazy, I never walked anybody out before, I gotta walk you out,” Drake said. “We’ll figure something out. Good luck, brother – I’ll hit you up after the fight.”

Most notably in the past, Drake featured on the stage during the weigh-ins for UFC 229 in October 2018, accompanying former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor ahead of his title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Michael Bisping Claims ‘Nightmare’ Luke Rockhold May Land UFC Title Against Israel Adesanya

Luke Rockhold

A two-time opponent of fellow former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, promotional Hall of Fame inductee, Michael Bisping has speculated that the former could land himself a UFC championship for the second time in his career – weighing up his stylistic matchup with titleholder, Israel Adesanya.

Rockhold, a former undisputed UFC and Strikeforce middleweight kingpin, is slated to feature at UFC 278 on August 20. in Salt Lake City, Utah – returning to the division in a high-stakes showdown against one-time title challenger, Paulo Costa

The Santa Cruz native has been sidelined from the Octagon since a 2019 light heavyweight debut against former titleholder, Jan Blachowicz, where he suffered a fractured jaw en route to a second round knockout defeat against the Pole.

In the time since, Rockhold, who underwent a surgical procedure to address labrum and rotator cuff tears in his left shoulder, has been linked with a potential title resurgence and an outing against current champion, Adesanya.

And one person to back Rockhold to potentially beat Adesanya should he traverse Costa in August – comes in the form of former bitter rival, Bisping.

“If (Luke) Rockhold beats (Paulo Costa), don’t be surprised if he becomes champion of the world once again,” Michael Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “(Israel) Adesanya needs fresh meat. What does Rockhold have that could trouble Adesanya? Well, for one, he’s about the same height. He’s probably about the same reach. Athletically, he’s just as good. Granted, he’s a little bit older, so maybe not quite as fast.”

“Maybe the reflexes aren’t there. But we know about the ground game of Rockhold, we know about the top pressure, we know about how deadly he can be on the feet.”

Michael Bisping speculates a “reinvigorated” Luke Rockhold could prove to be a “nightmare” at middleweight

Bisping further claimed that a “reinvigorated” version of Rockhold could prove to be a difficult puzzle to solve for the rest of the 185lb pile.

“I’m just saying, with this new reinvigorated Luke Rockhold, this new version, this samurai that went away and learned from his past mistakes and now has come back centered, grounded, hungry, sober, personal problems behind him,” Michael Bisping said. “I think this Luke Rockhold could be a nightmare for a lot of people in the middleweight division.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie)

Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway Involved In Verbal Altercation Ahead Of UFC 276: ‘I Am The Heat, Baby’

Max Holloway

Displaying a fiery demeanour ahead of his undisputed featherweight title trilogy clash against Alexander Volkanovski, former champion, Max Holloway continued that approach at yesterday’s ceremonial weigh-ins, engaging in a verbal back-and-forth with the New South Wales technician.

Max Holloway, who co-headlines this weekend’s much-anticipated UFC 276 card in ‘Sin City’, attempts to avenge a pair of prior championship fight losses to Volkanovski, in a bid to become a two-time undisputed featherweight kingpin.

First meeting Volkanovski back in December 2019, Holloway stumbled in his attempt to land successful title defense number four, dropping a close decision loss, before suffering an even closer, more contentious judging defeat in an immediate rematch in July of the following year.

In the time since, Holloway, a native of Hawaii, managed to land back-to-back bludgeoning victories over both Calvin Kattar, and Yair Rodriguez, retaining his status as the #1 ranked contender at featherweight, as well as earning a shot at gold once again.

Usually, a reserved character approaching his Octagon walk, Holloway took the reigns during this week’s press conference, insisting that Volkanovski would not secure a “3peat” of wins over him

And again at yesterday’s official, ceremonial weigh-ins, footage emerged of the duo engaging in another rather intense battle of words as the pair waited to approach the scales and stage.

Preparing to walk on stage, Max Holloway was urged to “bring the heat” by Volkanovski, to which he replied with a mantra – “I am the heat, brother”, leading to the former to bark that Holloway’s “mind games” imposed during fight week were about to backfire for him.

Alexander Volkanovski attempts to move to 3-0 against Max Holloway on Saturday

Landing as the night’s co-headliner, Volkanovski will attempt to land his fourth consecutive defense of the featherweight title in his trilogy with Holloway – following wins over both Brian Ortega, and Chan Sung Jung, most recently.

Charles Oliveira Prefers Conor McGregor Fight Next Instead Of Islam Makhachev Clash

Charles Oliveira

Former undisputed UFC lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira has made his message clear in regards to whom he prefers to take on next in the form of a vacant title fight at 155lbs – with a clear message of ‘money talks’.

Oliveira, the most recent lightweight champion, currently holds the #1 rank in the division following his May title stripping, however, is all but penned to challenge for a vacant division title next.

Headlining UFC 274 in Phoenix, Arizona – Oliveira forced a vacant title against former interim gold holder, Justin Gaethje, stopping the home town favorite with a brutal first round rear-naked choke in the ‘Copper State’.

Off the back of the dominant victory for the promotion’s most prolific submission ace, Oliveira has been continually linked with a vacant gold matchup against surging Dagestan force, Islam Makhachev.

Charles Oliveira reveals he would choose to fight Conor McGregor next

Rumored to return at UFC 281 in October on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Oliveira remains less than wholly sold on the vacant title matchup against Makhachev – maintaining that he would leap at the opportunity to land a significant paycheck in the form of a showdown with Dublin superstar, McGregor.

“If I must choose, it’d be Conor McGregor, as the guy who is putting the money in my bank account,” Charles Oliveira said at UFC X in Las Vegas ahead of UFC 276. “If I’m going to choose, I’m going to choose Conor McGregor.”

“The story with Conor has always been like that,” Charles Oliveira said in regards to McGregor potentially skipping the lightweight queue. “It was the same thing with Dustin Poirier. He always cuts the line and everyone knows that (happens) when Conor is on. He cuts the line. I think I deserve to choose and I’m choosing Conor because of everything I’ve done to make some money for my family and for everything. If I’m going to choose, I’m choosing Conor.”

UFC president, Dana White recently provided an update on an Octagon return for the 33-year-old Crumlin native, insisting that McGregor is eyeing a comeback at the close of this year, if not early 2023 instead.

And as for Oliveira, the Sao Paulo favorite has lined up his potential Octagon return in January of next year – ideally in a Brazil homecoming.

“People are talking about it so much,” Charles Oliveira said of a Brazil card next year. “I think they (the UFC) might want it to happen. For me, it’s not specifically. The UFC hasn’t told me anything yet. I want to fight by the end of the year, but if it’s at the end of the year, really, I would prefer to fight in January in Brazil, if that event happens.” (Transcribed by MMA Junkie

‘I Got Him For You’ – Kamaru Usman Urges Leon Edwards To Thank Him For Handing Jorge Masvidal KO Loss

Kamaru Usman

Ahead of their blockbuster UFC 278 rematch on August 20. – reigning UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman has urged the #2 ranked contender and incoming title challenger, Leon Edwards, for knocking out and twice defeating common-rival, Jorge Masvidal – following a 2018 skirmish between the two in London.

Kamaru Usman, who attempts to land successful title defense number six against past foe, Edwards at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah – previously holds a UFC Fight Night Orlando unanimous decision win over the Birmingham technician back in December 2015.

Sharing the stage with Edwards at a press conference this Friday night in Las Vegas, Nevada ahead of their August championship re-run, Usman maintains that he’s is “100 percent ready” to return to the Octagon following a recent surgical procedure to address a ligament injury in his hand.

Questioning the mentality and ability of the pound-for-pound number one, challenger, Edwards replied by claiming that he was unsure if Auchi native, Kamaru Usman was actually what he thought he was himself.

Predicting a title coronation of his own against Usman and the chance to avenge his most recent loss back in 2015, Edwards was met with constant question of how he would actually manage to defeat him – given the fact he has yet to taste defeat during his roughshod run in the UFC.

Urging Edwards to reflect on his UFC Fight Night London post-fight scuffle and skirmish with the aforenoted, Masvidal backstage at The O2 Arena – Usman asked the former to thank him for handing the Floridian a pair of championship losses – the second of which courtesy of a brutal knockout in April of last year.

Listing a slew of potential future opponents, Kamaru Usman weighed up the possibility of sharing the Octagon with the likes of Khamzat Chimaev, Belal Muhammad, Sean Brady, Vicente Luque, and Shavkat Rakhmonov – as well as past opponents, Colby Covington, and Gilbert Burns.

Following UFC 275 last month where Jiri Prochazka handed then-light heavyweight champion, Glover Teixeira a submission loss to mint himself as the champion – Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz claimed his client would defeat both. And the welterweight titleholder backs those claims, remaining coy that he would likely only defeat “some” contenders at 205lbs.

Kamaru Usman teased Leon Edwards with a chance to touch his championship gold

After an intense staredown between the two, Usman could be heard asking Edwards, “do you want to touch it” – referencing his UFC title, and when the latter reached out to grasp the championship belt, Usman turned away – title in tow.
