Next up on the UFC Vegas 20 main card is a women’s flyweight encounter between Montana De La Rosa and Mayra Bueno Silva.

Round 1: Silva opens with a leg kick but is on the receiving end of a right hook from De La Rosa. De La Rosa connects again with Silva now pressuring her. De La Rosa, however, goes for the takedown and lands it. Silva gets up but is clinched up against the fence. Silva is deducted a point after she holds the cage to prevent the takedown attempt. Silva apologizes and the fight resumes. Silva lands some knees in the clinch. De La Rosa lands two front kicks to the body. De La Rosa lands a right hand as she goes for another takedown. Silva continues to land knees and show danger with her striking. They separate before De La Rosa goes for another takedown attempt. The round ends.

Round 2: Silva lands a leg kick and seems to have landed with a huge head kick. De La Rosa is backed up against the fence and goes for the takedown. However, she fails to land it as Silva ends up on top. Silva lands a few big strikes but De La Rosa gets to her feet. The momentum is shifting now as Silva lands some devastating knees. De La Rosa continues to look for the takedown and gets it in the end. De La Rosa gets the mount. She lands a couple of strikes and momentarily looks for an arm triangle. De La Rosa ends the round strong.

Round 3: Silva clinches De La Rosa and goes for more knees. De La Rosa goes for the takedown again. Silva threatens with a submission but proceeds to land a big knee after. De La Rosa is bleeding now as she was likely busted up in the nose. De La Rosa is fighting through it as she continues to clinch Silva up against the fence. Silva lands another knee and connects with more big shots. They separate. Silva lands a body shot but is taken down soon after. De La Rosa ends the fight strong.

Official result: Montana De La Rosa draws Mayra Bueno Silva in a majority decision (28-27, 28-28, 28-28).

Next up on the UFC Greenville main card is a women’s flyweight bout between Montana De La Rosa and Andrea Lee.

Round 1:

Lots of leg work from Lee early on. Rosa keeping Lee at bay with her jab and has a few head kicks blocked. Rosa eats a big jab from Lee that wobbles her a bit. Rosa comes in with a big takedown and Lee scoots to the cage. Lee gets to her feet but still has Rosa on top of her against the cage. Lee with a nice knee to separate the clinch.

Lee has a kick caught and Rosa with the takedown again. Lee gets to her feet and is pressured by Rosa against the cage. Lee separates the clinch yet again. Lee comes in with a big overhand but Rosa ducks it to clinch again. More knees to the body from Lee to separate the clinch. Rosa comes in for a takedown but eats a knee to the face instead. Lee ends the round with a takedown of her own.

Round 2:

Failed takedown attempt from De La Rosa to start the round. She goes right back in on another, but Lee withstands and is able to get against the cage. Rosa finally gets the takedown, but Lee is right back up. Lee separates and De La Rosa is bleeding form her nose. Uppercut lands for Rosa and Lee responds with a stiff jab.

Body kick lands for Lee, who sprawls nicely to defend a takedown. A nice 1-2 lands for Lee. Rosa catches a kick, loses it, and then gets the takedown on Lee. Some elbows to the head from Lee and she gets to her feet, but Rosa still has her against the cage. The round comes to an end.

Round 3:

Very scrappy from both women to open this round. Lee lands a nice kick to the body and Rosa responds with a nice body shot. Rosa gets a trip takedown against the cage but Lee is sitting against the cage. Lee gets to her feet but is taken right back down by Rosa. De La Rosa locks up the legs of Lee, who is able to scramble free. Lee gets to her feet but Rosa is on her back.

Lee turns away from her and throws her out of the clinch. Rosa catches a kick from Lee and is able to get top position. Rosa tried to lock in a choke but Lee escaped. Lee postures up and rains down some big shots. An elbow from Lee and Rosa is able to lock up an arm. Lee gets her arm free and continues her attack. Lee tried for a weird reverse inverted triangle but can’t lock it in. The round comes to an end with Lee taking Rosa’s back. Great fight.

Official Result: Andrea Lee def. Montana De La Rosa via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Nadia Kassen and Montana De La Rosa will keep the main card rolling tonight (Sat., February 9, 2019) at UFC 234 from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Another young Aussie will take center Octagon as Wentworthville, Australia’s “187” Kassem will look to improve her unbeaten record to 6-0. She is riding high off a decision victory over Alex Chambers last November.

De La Rosa enters UFC 234 winning four of her last five outings. Her only blemish in that stretch was an exhibition loss to Nicco Montaño during the TUF 26 season. This tall drink of Texas lemonade looks to play spoiler in Australia.

Round One

Kassem comes out southpaw but De La Rosa rushes with strikes. The fighters get pushes up against the cage as De La Rosa gains control and takes Kassem to the ground. De La Rosa peppers with punches as she looks for position. Not much action as the fighters grapple and hand fight. De Loa Rosa postures up and blasts some hard punches. Kassem throws her legs up in an effort to catch De La Rosa in a triangle. Kassem tries to control posture from the bottom but De La Rosa is bigger and stronger. De La Rosa lands a couple of hard left hands as Kassem gains closes her guard. Kassem blasts a couple hard right hands. Kassem has done a good job at limiting De La Rosa’s offense. De La Rosa passes guard and looks for an armbar as the round ends.

Round Two

Quick touch of gloves but De La Rosa wastes no time closing distance and getting the fight back down to the canvas. De La Rosa tries to trap a hand and fire off some ground and pound. She manages to get off a few strikes before Kassem gets free. De La Rosa transitions to top mount lands a couple of strikes and rolls for the armbar. It is tight but Kassem defends. De La Rosa chains subs to a triangle. Again Kassem defends. She transitions back to an armbar. Wow. She gets the sub.

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday July 6, 2018) will come from in the form of TUF 27 Finale. Headlining the card are Brad Tavares and Israel Adesanya, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Montana De La Rosa vs. Rachael Ostovich in a women’s flyweight closes the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1.

Luis Pena vs. Richie Smullen is next in a lightweight bout.

John Gunther vs. Allan Zuniga is next in a lightweight bout.

Tyler Diamond vs. Bryce Mitchell in a featherweight bout opens the FOX Sports 1 preliminary bouts.

Matt Bessette vs. Steven Peterson in a featherweight bout finishes off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims is Gerald Meerschaert vs. Oskar Piechota in a middleweight bout. In round 1, Piechota clinching and Meerschaert turns him to the fence but gets tripped to the mat. Piechota right into mount. Piechota cuts to side control and does well to lock up the d’arce as Meerschaert turtles up. Piechota into mount now and he’s hunting for the arm triangle. Piechota doing really well to follow Meerschaert every time he scrambles. Gives just enough space to keep from getting rolled, and then jumps right back into an offensive position. They’re stood up. Huge counter hook lands for Piechota. He’s at his best off his back foot on the feet. Counter left hook as Meerschaert steps in and it dropped him. Piechota on his back under the chin, looking to sink the choke, but Meerschaert shucked the hooks and forced him to give it up. In round 2, Piechota’s going to the lead hook too often Meerschaert has been blocking it and stepping in with his own strikes. Huge leg kicks from Piechota cut him down though. Nice headkick from Meerschaert. He’s holding his own after a really bad first round. Went for a sacrifice throw, and ended up on top after a prolonged scramble. Piechota made a mistake jumping on the guillotine. Piechota definitely looking tired. Big opening for Meerschaert if he can keep pressure on. Meerschaert jumping on the anaconda. That was close. Piechota fought it off, but Meerschaert is all over him landing hard shots as he tries to stand. Piechota getting pieced up. eating big knees. Looking for a chance to counter, but he’s nearly out on his feet. Meerschaert staying calm, going back to the knees. Piechota lands an uppercut, but he’s exhausted, and Meerschaert pulls him to the canvas again to land ground and pound from ride. Meerschaert landing elbows and solid hooks from the back. He’s on the rear-naked choke and it looks really deep. Piechota goes out cold.

She tries to clinch but Robertson gets out. Robertson with a takedown and back-take after scramble. Whitmire manages to get to a seated position against the fence and turn over into Robertson. Robertson with an armbar for the win.
