“The American Gangster” Chael Sonnen will take on Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida in a light heavyweight bout at MSG in June, according to sources.

The news comes via ESPN who first reported in February that the two fighters had verbally agreed to fight at some point later this year.

Sonnen, 42, most recently competed in the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix in October where he lost in the Fedor Emelianenko in the semifinals.

As for the 40-year-old Machida, he had a successful promotional debut back at Bellator 213 in December of last year. The former UFC light heavyweight champion defeated Rafael Carvalho via split decision in that night.

This will mark the second occasion the Viacom-owned promotion has staged an event at the sports mecca that is MSG. The promotion’s first event at MSG was back in June of 2017. Sonnen fought on that night as well. He defeated Wanderlei Silva in the main event.

Conor McGregor ‘Worth Every Bit Of Trouble’ According To Dana White

Dana White says Conor McGregor ‘worth every bit of trouble’ heading into UFC 229.

UFC President Dana White says Conor McGregor ‘worth every bit of trouble’ heading into UFC 229.

McGregor and White have quite the chummy relationship. Whatever the Irishman does somehow turns out in his favor. Even the now infamous bus attack where McGregor hurled a dolly breaking a bus is being used a PR heading into UFC 229.

I guess when you are the biggest star the sport has ever seen and arguably the most recognizable celebrity on the planet you get away with those things. At least that’s how White sees it.

“Conor works very well with us. We’ve worked very well with him. There are obviously certain things you have to deal with, with a Conor McGregor,” White told ESPN’s “Get Up”.

Many fans and media members alike were surprised when McGregor received a slap on the hand for storming Barclays Center earlier this year. As a direct result of his actions fighter’s lost paydays, mental stress, hospital bills, and fellow lightweight Michael Chiesa is taking McGregor to court.

White never punished McGregor despite some harsh words immediately following the bus attack. However, Conor did receive community service and mandated anger management classes as part of a plea deal his lawyer struck.

Regardless, White isn’t understating the severity of that infamous day.

“For example, the New York thing. The fact that he thought he could come here and have this beef with Khabib in the middle of New York City and the way that it was done, that’s obviously the craziest thing,” White said.

It’s fair to say that White really doesn’t have any issue working with Conor going forward. So long as ‘typical’ Conor shows up. White seems content to keep cashing those PPV checks.

UFC 229 takes place Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Jon Jones manager Malki Kawa hints at two logical opponents for “Bones” return.

Former two-time light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones is cleared to fight in early October following the completion of his 15-month anti-doping suspension.

So who gets to welcome Jones back to the octagon? Or better yet, what weight class will “Bones” be competing upon his return?

Speaking with Luke Thomas on the most recent episode of The MMA Hour, Jones longtime agent Kawa believes there are only two fights that make sense for Jones. Either a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson or a third fight with bitter rival Daniel Cormier.

“I think Jon would have a claim to fight for that light heavyweight belt,” Kawa said. “If he doesn’t, if DC decides to fight at light heavyweight before he fights Brock, then I think you see Jon versus DC. I think those are the two logical options, I just don’t know for sure which route they go.”

“[Jones] wants his light heavyweight belt back. Daniel has both of them. Daniel is saying he’s going to wait until he fights Brock, so I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

“Bones” could return to action as soon as October, although Kawa would be happy if Jones fights before years end. There has been much speculation that Jones would step right into the vacant main event slot of UFC 230 on Nov. 30 in New York. However, Kawa said that is unlikely to happen at this point.

“There’s some things we’re working out with the UFC,” Kawa said. “So there’s some factors going into that. It has nothing to do with anyone telling us we can’t. There’s just some things we’ve got to come to an agreement on. And I just don’t think that UFC 230 is going to happen.”

Cormier previously stated last week on UFC Tonight that he has moved past the feud with Jones. Although he would not rule out a third fight with Jones.

At 31 years old Jones seems likely to fight at light heavyweight in his first fight back. He has been fighting at 205 pounds his entire career, though he has considered moving up to heavyweight. Jones held the UFC’s 205-pound title from 2011 to 2015 and Kawa said that gold is what he’d like to obtain again. It’s just a matter of who the opponent will be and what timeframe.

“Cormier is either gonna fight him at light heavyweight or Cormier is gonna fight at heavyweight and wait for Brock,” Kawa said. “I don’t know what route he’s gonna go.”

UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is just one win away from tying Ronda Rousey’s record for the most consecutive title defenses made by a female fighter, and it sounds as if the Polish champion has an idea of where she’d like to make that next title defense:

“I would like to fight in New York in Madison Square Garden in November,” Jedrzejczyk said today during a “Women of the UFC” panel at Park Theater in Las Vegas (Via MMAFighting). “I want to be back in the historical place.”

A pay-per-view isn’t currently scheduled for November, although it’s expected that the UFC will return to the Empire State around that time.

“Joanna Champion” fought at Madison Square Garden last November, scoring a decision victory over Karolina Kowalkiewicz in a five round thriller at UFC 205. She followed that up with an impressive showing at UFC 211, scoring a one-sided victory over Jessica Andrade.

Since her most recent victory, Jedrzejczyk has been quite busy, and she admitted that she hasn’t had much time to train:

“I don’t have time for my sponsorship and media obligations home in Poland, so the last five weeks were crazy,” she said. “I didn’t have time for training. But it was good. I could relax, physically, mentally and spend some time with my friends. It was nice.”

Despite her hectic schedule, Jedrzejczyk has her sights set on returning to the Octagon in the near future, but she plans to have a discussion with UFC President Dana White beforehand:

“Dana is on vacation, so I didn’t call him,” she said. “But I texted with him, and I’m going to fight again. But let’s sit and talk.”

Who would you like to see the 115-pound queen take on next?
