Former two-time foe of Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz has backed the Dubliner’s choice to withdraw from his UFC 303 return this weekend after suffering a fractured toe – citing the exit from the bout through injury as a “good idea”.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion, ruled him from a return at UFC 303 this weekend during International Fight Week, seeing a bout with rival, Michael Chandler fall to the wayside after another injury setback.

Revealing x-rays of a fractured toe on his left foot – the same leg in which he fractured a left tibia and fibula on back in 2021, McGregor revealed he would be eligible to return at the end of August, if not September.

And welcoming the chance to take on Chandler in his return to the Octagon following a three-year layoff, McGregor’s quest to compete this year may be in jeopardy – with UFC CEO, Dana White claiming the promotion’s schedule for the annum was already “laid out”.

Receiving flak from the likes of former scheduled foe, Rafael dos Anjos and current lightweight kingpin, Islam Makhachev for his withdrawal from UFC 303, McGregor has found support from former foe, Diaz – who claimed he likely would have made the same decision to exit the bout through injury, too.

“I think it was just a minor thing,” Nate Diaz told MMA Junkie. “I think they made a bigger deal out of it than it is. Good idea. If I get f*cked up, I would like to push the fight back, too, but people are f*cking freaking out. I think I wouldn’t want to fight until I’m 100% ready to rock, too, because in the past I’ve done all kinds of sh*t I shouldn’t have done.”

“So, I think he (Conor McGregor) learned from experience and all these inexperienced people out there talking sh*t, just speaking for their inexperience,” Nate Diaz continued. “They’re going to have to deal with the criticizm until the fight gets done, but I think it’ll happen and it’ll all be good.”

Jake Paul has no shortage of opponents lined up, but that won’t stop him from continuously trying to goad ex-UFC star Nate Diaz into a rematch.

‘The Problem Child’ first met Diaz inside the squared circle last August. After going 10 rounds in The Lone Star State, Paul was declared the winner via unanimous decision. Immediately following the fight, Paul challenged the ‘Stockton Samurai’ to a big-money rematch in MMA under the Professional Fighters League banner.

Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz

Despite being promised what would likely be the biggest payday of his combat sports career, Diaz has shown little interest in fighting Paul inside the Smart Cage.

“Nate Diaz is ducking me in MMA. He’s actually ducking [an MMA fight], which is crazy,” Paul said on a new episode of his BS podcast. “We upped [the offer] to $15 million. But he actually doesn’t want to do it.”

Sean O’Malley, who was serving as a guest on Paul’s podcast, offered a rather diplomatic response, suggesting that if things were to stay on the feet, Paul would certainly have a chance. But if it goes to the ground, well that’s another story.

“I don’t know how much jiujitsu you know,” O’Malley said. “Nate’s a high-level black belt. If you can keep it standing, one hundred percent there are winnable ways there. If it went to the ground, I think he might be able to grab your neck” (h/t MMA Junkie).

“That’s exactly how I feel about it,” Paul replied. “If I don’t get guillotined, then I win the fight. But even if he was on top of him I would just throw him off of me. Because he’s honestly the weakest puncher I’ve ever fought. Like, when he was hitting me I almost started laughing. I’m not even saying this to talk sh*t. Out of everyone I’ve sparred in my whole entire life and everyone I’ve fought, his punches are the weakest.

“I’m literally not even talking sh*t, which is why I think it’s funny that he dropped Conor and sh*t because it’s like, how?”

Jake Paul books a bout with mike perry ahead of tyson fight

On July 20, Jake Paul will return to the squared circle for a scrap with the BKFC’s reigning ‘King of Violence’ Mike Perry. The bout will emanate from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on the same night that he was originally scheduled to face former unified heavyweight boxing world champion ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

Jake Paul

In May, Tyson suffered a medical emergency during a cross-country flight from Miami. Fortunately, the incident was chalked up to an unclear flare-up and not something more serious. Still, Tyson was advised to rest for the next few weeks, preventing him from training two months out from fight night.

Now, Paul vs. Tyson has been moved to November 15, freeing up Paul to fight ‘Platinum’ in The Sunshine State.

Violent brawl breaks out at Jorge Masvidal Nate Diaz press conference ahead of boxing rematch

Following the culmination of their latest press event ahead of their July boxing fight rematch, a mass brawl broke out between Jorge Masvidal and rival, Nate Diaz’s respective teams, with the mayhem spilling out into the media section and amongst the audience.

Masvidal, a former undisputed welterweight title challenger twice under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined from combat sports since he featured in his native Miami back in April of last year, dropping his fourth consecutive loss in a decision defeat against Gilbert Burns.

Diaz Masvidal Face off

As for Diaz, the Stockton veteran and former UFC star has himself been out of action since he made a professional boxing debut in August of last year, dropping a decision defeat of his own against polarizing striker, Jake Paul

And seeing a planned boxing fight rematch slated for the beginning of this month shelved, Masvidal and Diaz will now share the ring next month in Las Vegas, with the duo rekindling their rivalry following a 2019 fight under the banner of the UFC.

Mass brawl breaks out at Jorge Masvidal – Nate Diaz presser

Taking part in a lengthy media tour – which saw The Ultimate Fighter winner, Diaz bow out ahead of a planned face-off with his rival, Masvidal – the Stockton native pulled a similar move today, leaving the stage before a staredown.

Shuffling down to the audience and media row, members of Masvidal and Diaz’s teams began taunting each other back-and-forth – with the above-mentioned Floridian igniting a mass brawl between both teams.

First sharing the Octagon back in November 2019 in the main event of UFC 245, Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz competed for the inaugural BMF title under the banner of the promotion.

Headlining the Madison Square Garden card, Masvidal turned in a third round doctor’s stoppage TKO win over Diaz, after opening a massive laceration over the right eye of the Stockon fan-favorite.

Nate Diaz was not enthused with the action at UFC 302.

Returning to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the promotion delivered a dozen fights headlined by a lightweight title scrap between reigning champion Islam Makhachev and division fan favorite Dustin Poirier.

While there were a few bright spots, including Kevin Holland’s horrifying technical submission victory over
Micha? Oleksiejczuk, nine of the 12 bouts ended in decision — three split and six unanimous. Even Sean Strickland acknowledged that his five-round scrap with Paulo Costa left a lot to be desired.

“It was a boring fight, I’m sorry guys,” Strickland admitted after the fact. “That Brazilian goes backward fast, I’m not known for being athletic.”

Taking to social media, former UFC star Nate Diaz was in agreement, giving his brutally honest opinion of the action in The Garden State.

“Those fights were fukn boring,” Diaz wrote on X.

Despite some lackluster fights, UFC 302 delivered a handful of exciting finishes

Though things look less-than-stellar on paper, it wasn’t all bad. Jailton Almeida climbed back into the win column with a quick first-round rear-naked choke submission over Alexandr Romanov. And in the main event of the evening, Islam Makhachev put away Poirier via a darce after four-and-a-half rounds of action that left both fighters battered and bloody.

Of course, the highlight of the night went to Holland who slapped on a slick armbar seconds after getting rocked in his main card clash with Oleksiejczuk. Despite being unable to escape the hold, ‘Hussar’ refused to tap out, prompting Holland to snap his arm. That ultimately forced referee Herb Dean to step in and call for the stoppage 94 seconds into the contest.

Jorge Masvidal reveals reason for Nate Diaz fight date change: 'This guy's such a diva and a coward'

Jorge Masvidal is not thrilled about having to wait another five weeks to get his hands on Nate Diaz.

Originally, ‘Gamebred’ and the ‘Stockton Samurai’ were scheduled to step inside the squared circle on June 1. However, those plans quickly changed when it was revealed that the UFC would hold its next pay-per-view event on that same date.

Now, Masvidal and Diaz’s long-awaited rematch will go down on Saturday, July 6. In addition to the date change, the event will also switch up its location, moving from the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California to the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz

“You don’t want to go up against other dates and other fight events,” Masvidal told ESPN. “Especially, you don’t want to go up against UFC. So, from the beginning, I was trying to switch this date. Nate’s a f*cking idiot. He was adamant about staying on that date because he’s not a UFC employee no more and, ‘I don’t have to do nothing for the UFC,’ and this and that.

“It just doesn’t make sense, especially when I know Nate thinks he’s a boxer now because he boxed the Jake Paul guy, but he’s not a boxer. He doesn’t have a boxing fanbase. The fanbase that he has is from MMA and UFC. So, why go up against our own fanbase? Me as a promoter, I’m thinking I don’t even want to do it. I know a lot of fight fans would buy both or watch both events, but in my opinion, why even do it if there were dates that weren’t conflicting?” (h/t MMA Mania).

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz set to run back their instant classic at UFC 244

When Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz meet in The Golden State, it will be their second time competing against one another, the first coming at UFC 244 in 2019 for the inaugural BMF title. ‘Gamebred’ won the fight via a doctor’s stoppage following the conclusion of the third round. It was the last fight Masvidal would win inside the Octagon before retiring from MMA in 2023.

Jorge Masvidal

“I don’t like that another month and a week got added to this already long training camp,” Masvidal said. “In hindsight, it doesn’t really matter because I’m making the transition from one sport to another. So the more time I get to practice and perfect my craft, sharpen my tools, it doesn’t hurt me or bother me.

“Now, Nate Diaz’s ass is somebody that does bother me and I want to f*ck him up. We could have had this fight at an earlier date but this guy’s such a f*cking diva and a f*cking coward that he wouldn’t want to fight in Miami, didn’t want to fight in Texas because things didn’t go his way in Texas against Jake Paul. Didn’t want to fight in New York. Didn’t want to fight in California unless it was in his hometown. I’m here pent up, frustrated, training my ass off every day just to get in there with this guy, and f*cking hurt him.”

Nate Diaz walked away from the UFC in 2022 following a fourth-round submission victory over Tony Ferguson. 11 months later, he would make his boxing debut in a 10-round clash with YouTube star Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ won the bout via unanimous decision.
