Nate Diaz is closer to stepping back inside the Octagon, and part of getting the deal done appears to be slapping Dana White.

Diaz posted the video to Instagram on Saturday evening. White took the “Stockton Slap” from Diaz with 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” as the soundtrack for the slo-mo replay. Diaz posted the video using the caption “Getting deals done today” and the hashtag “#immagetmymoney”.

On Thursday, White said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd he met with Diaz in Stockton but left the meeting upset at Diaz’s management. The hatchet now seems to be buried.

It would appear the deal Diaz is alluding to would be the rematch with Conor McGregor. Diaz submitted the featherweight champion at UFC 196, and the rematch has been linked to UFC 202 later this year. Now it seems like that announcement is going to come in the near future.

Nate Diaz: You Do Steroids, I’ll Smoke Marijuana & We Can Fight

Nate Diaz shook things up in a massive way at UFC 196, taking out the promotion’s most marketable fighter Conor McGregor on just 11 days notice. It was the first loss for ‘The Notorious’ under the UFC banner, and he was originally meant to face lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the pay-per-view main event.

The featherweight belt was still intact, but what was somewhat left in tatters was McGregor’s immediate future. What was certain is Nate Diaz’s coming of age.

He’d worked hard under the Zuffa banner for nearly 10 years before the McGregor fight, and he’d finally landed the massive media attention that had always eluded him before. Taking the fight on just 11 days notice proved to be a minor factor, as Diaz choked McGregor in to submission in front of millions of stunned viewers.

Diaz vs. Michael Johnson

If you look back you’ll see that Nate Diaz was promoting the sport in a very similar way to Conor McGregor now, only many years before the Irishman. The difference between the two? Promotional money, and the UFC clearly didn’t believe in the Stockton bad boy’s abilities. That’s what made his anti-hero win at UFC 196 all the more special.

In typical Diaz brothers style, Nate was flipping the promotion off for their years of ill belief in him, with comments like ‘Nate is not a needle mover’ in the back of his mind. Now, perhaps more deserving than 99% of the fighters on the UFC’s roster, Nate Diaz is a superstar.
The badass weed smoking gangster from the hood could no longer be held back by the promotion’s doubts, and we’ve seen him take some serious air time ever since March 5.

This latest interview is mind blowing to say the least.

Dana White On McGregor vs. Diaz II: “I Don’t Know If That Will Ever Happen”

dana-white-fs1-interview

UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on Thursday and spoke about the latest negotiations for a Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch.

According to the UFC boss, putting together a McGregor-Diaz rematch has been “a little challenging.”

“We’re trying to set up a fight right now,” White said during his appearance on ESPN on Thursday morning. “It’s been a little challenging. I’m trying to get the deal done.”

White continued, explaining that despite being the reigning UFC 145-pound champion, “The Notorious” Conor McGregor is “obsessed” with getting a 170-pound immediate rematch with Diaz.

“Conor is obsessed with this rematch. I don’t know why, but he is,” White said. “It’s just his type of personality. He’s obsessed with it. He’s obsessed with fighting Diaz again at 170 pounds.”

While the negotiations for a potential McGregor-Diaz II fight are still ongoing, the UFC President did claim that he was unsure if the fight “will ever happen.”

“I don’t know if that will ever happen,” White said. “But I’m trying.”

Dana White ‘Doesn’t Know’ If McGregor vs. Diaz II Will Happen

After all this time, hype, rumor, and speculation, you’d think that the UFC would have finally been able to get the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch booked for some point later this year. After all this time, hype, rumor, and speculation, you’d think that the UFC would have finally been able to get the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch booked for some point later this year.

The fight was set for the main event of July’s UFC 200 after Diaz infamously submitted McGregor at March 5’s UFC 196, but McGregor’s insanely publicized “retirement” fit that lasted all of two days after the UFC pulled him from the match for skipping media obligations caused the current windfall the MMA world is still heavily embroiled in.

So he did what any top-flight MMA champion would do, and he went and got “involved” with an unlikely superfight with also “retired” boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. While that bout has next to no chance of actually happening, the McGregor/Diaz rematch, which was tentatively targeted for August’s UFC 202, may now never happen.

Appearing on an episode of ESPN’s “Sportscenter” today (Thurs., June 2, 2016), UFC President Dana White declared that the promotion is still working on a fight for McGregor, but it’s been challenging to get a deal done for the Diaz fight:

“We’re working on what’s next for him,” White said. “We’re trying to set up a fight right now. It’s been a little challenging. Obviously the fight he would love to do is the rematch with Nate Diaz. I’m trying to get the deal done.”

White went on to add that McGregor is still “obsessed” with rematching the larger Diaz in order to avenge the loss:

“Conor is obsessed with this rematch,” White said. “I don’t know why, but he is. It’s just his type of personality. He’s obsessed with it. He’s obsessed with fighting Diaz again – at 170 pounds.”

But even though the UFC’s biggest star supposedly wants nothing more than to beat the Stockton slugger, White still isn’t sure if he can actually make the bout a reality:

“I don’t know if that will ever happen, but I’m trying,” he said.

There’s little doubt that White and his employees are giving anything but their best efforts in order to get the huge rematch booked, as the first one brought in an insane 1,500,000 pay-per-view (PPV) buys.

However, with Diaz appearing a bit unwilling to play ball for anotehr huge payday, and McGregor off doing his own thing, it could truly become a reality that the fight, which many proclaimed they didn’t want to see again in the first place, doesn’t actually happen. Do you care?

Nate Diaz: I’m The Only Man Who Can Beat Floyd Mayweather

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather has always done a top notch job of keeping himself in the media spotlight, and it seem he’s passing his knowledge on to the upcoming fighters in the game. But more recently his reach has spanned in to the world of mixed martial arts, at least in terms of headline time

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather has always done a top notch job of keeping himself in the media spotlight, and it seem he’s passing his knowledge on to the upcoming fighters in the game. But more recently his reach has spanned in to the world of mixed martial arts, at least in terms of headline time and the rumour mill. It all started in December of last year when he and UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor shared a war of words around the subject of racism.

Fast forward to just after UFC 196, where ‘The Notorious’ was choked in to submission by Nate Diaz, and the subject surfaced yet again. This time it was in the aftermath of McGregor’s removal from the UFC 200 rematch with Diaz, as the Irish star had refused to attend a press conference for the event in California.

McGregor-Mayweather

Whether or not the fight will actually happen is debatable at best, and somewhat frustrating for fans that hope to see the featherweight division progress at the title end. The long and short of McGregor’ future is that a rematch with Nate Diaz is likely for UFC 202 or UFC 203. The outcome of that fight will do little to determine the future of the 145-pound category, as it’s probably going to be another welterweight tilt.

Nate

McGregor had a whole lot to say about Diaz in his most recent interview, even going as far to say that he had him ‘nearly done’ after ‘slapping his head off.’

Never one to sit quietly when this sort of banter is being thrown around, the younger o the infamous Diaz brothers fired a shot at McGregor, aiming right for the feels…

 .

Diaz also revealed he’s done an interview with Esquire with the followin retweet, so stay tuned:
