Conor McGregor Jake Paul

Following the heated presser that took place last night for the eagerly awaited UFC 264, YouTuber-turned-Boxer Jake Paul didn’t hold back on sharing his thoughts on and opinions on McGregor.

This Saturday, ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor makes a return to the Octagon where he seeks to avenge his recent defeat to Dustin Poirier

With the build-up of the press conference and the lack of coverage on McGregor this week, many fans were unsure as to what version of McGregor they would get. It is safe to say that after the Thursday night conference, many fans are divided on McGregor.

Even Poirier at one point, decided to not bite back at McGregor’s trash talk but rather pity him in.

‘You used to be better than this man,” Poirier said at the UFC 264 pr-fight press conference.

Following the UFC 264 press conference and face-off, Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul didn’t hold back on his opinion on the Irishman.

“You can tell he has lost “it” He no longer speaks from a place of authenticity and you can tell he’s trying to convince himself of his own lies,” Paul wrote on social media. He takes offense to everything now. He’s bathing in his own insecurity’s. When we fight I will further expose him for the fraud he is”

Dustin Poirier shared a similar opinion of the Irishman, saying previously this week that Conor’s pre-fight comments reek of insecurity.

Now, this wouldn’t be the first time Paul has went after McGregor. Following the Irishman’s recent defeat to Poirier earlier this year, Paul took to Twitter to poke some fun.

The Irishman made his boxing debut back in 2017 where he faced Floyd Mayweather in a controversial and high-profile bout. Since then, McGregor has been insistent on getting a match with Manny Pacquiao organized for his second boxing match.

Jake Paul is currently 2-0 in his professional boxing career with one of those wins being over former ONE Championship and UFC fighter Ben Askren. Paul is currently set to face another former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, this August, where he aims to put on a “boxing clinic” for the world.

Both Paul and Woodley are both in the midst of their fight camp with Woodley being trained by Floyd Mayweather, who recently went the full eight-rounds in an exhibition match against Paul’s older brother Logan. Could this mean that Woodley will go into this fight with the upper hand?

Would the match-up between Jake Paul and Conor McGregor be one you’d like to see?

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Punches Angela Magana At UFC Athlete Retreat

The UFC Athlete Retreat in Las Vegas in May was supposed to be an opportunity for fighters to relax, have fun and network, but instead, it turned into a battleground between two bitter rivals.

For several months beforehand, strawweight fighter Angela Magana had been waging an unprovoked cyberbullying campaign against the featherweight star, making fun of her appearance in a series of unflattering memes and messages.

Angered by the insults, ‘Cyborg’ took it upon herself to confront her foe face-to-face at the retreat, but Magana remained defiant and made it clear she had no intention of apologizing, leading to the Brazilian star punching her in the face.

In the aftermath of the incident ‘Cyborg’ received support from fans and other UFC fighters for confronting her tormentor, but Magana ignored the backlash and reported the incident to the police, claimed to have been treated in hospital for a cut lip and ‘cervical strain’ and threatened to file a lawsuit against her rival.

’Cyborg’ was later charged with misdemeanor battery by the Las Vegas Police Department.

Even during his long reign as the UFC’s middleweight champion, legendary MMA fighter Anderson Silva made it clear that he was interested in competing in the sport of boxing and has stated many times he has the ambition to fight hall-of-famer Roy Jones Jr. in the squared circle.

In 2009, Silva trained for a week at Freddie Roach’s ‘Wild Card’ gym, humbly telling the world renowned boxing coach that “I’m pretty good at MMA, but I’m not too good at boxing.”

Roach decided to find out for himself and watched intently as he put Silva into a sparring session again an unidentified opponent in the gym.

Silva cruised through the rounds that followed, but it wasn’t until Roach later watched the UFC legend competing in the Octagon that he realized just how talented he was.

”I learned that he was just toying with my guys because when I saw him fight for real, he was a whole different guy,” Roach told Sherdog.com in 2012. “When he wants to turn it up, he’s the best.”

In the lead-up to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather’s monumental clash with UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on August 26th, much has been made of ‘Money’s’ punching power, or lack thereof.

Leading the charge has been McGregor himself, who mocked the boxer’s claim during their recent press tour that he would KO him by pointing out, “You haven’t knocked anyone out in about 20 years!”

Of course that was an exaggeration on McGregor’s part, but the reality is it has been six years since Mayweather last experienced a victory inside the distance, with his knockout ratio having noticeably diminished over the years as he’s moved up in weight.

Nevertheless, Mayweather does still have 26 knockout victories to his name, and so it would be a mistake on McGregor’s part to discount the chance that the five-division champion could catch him with a fight-ending punch or combination over the course of 12 rounds of boxing.

With that in mind, in this article we’ll take a look back at the 10 best knockout finishes of Mayweather’s long career, working in chronological order and beginning with his first ever fight as a professional boxer over 20 years ago.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Roberto Apodaca

Back in 1996 at the age of 19, Floyd Mayweather made his professional boxing debut as a super-featherweight (130lbs) against 25-year-old Mexican, Roberto Apodaca, another newcomer who would quickly discover that he was completely out of his depth against the future hall of famer.

The teenage Mayweather’s all-round boxing game was on-point even back then, but it was his savvy bodywork in particular that stood out the most, and he sat Apodaca down with a left hook to the liver in the opening three-minutes of the fight..

Apodaca recovered as best he could, but early in the second round, Mayweather would go back to precisely the same spot, setting it up with a left hook to the head and then digging to the liver for the TKO finish, leaving his opponent writhing in pain on the canvas.

Quote: Conor McGregor Will Be ‘A Lot Bigger’ Than Mayweather

Conor McGregor’s longtime training partner Artem Lobov is set to help prepare for “The Notorious” in the bout between his teammate and Floyd Mayweather. Ahead of the controversial mega-fight, “The Russian Hammer” revealed he’s a bit surprised at what weight the fight will take place.

As you’ve likely heard, the August 26th match-up will be contested at 154 pounds. Since McGregor is the reigning UFC lightweight champ at 155 pounds, the fact he’s agreed to fight at that weight is clearly understandable. Since Mayweather was fighting at 147 pounds prior to his initial retirement, however, there had been talk a bout with McGregor would be at a lower weight than 154.

Lobov recently spoke to MMA Junkie and had this to say about the contracted weight for Mayweather vs. McGregor:

“That was a bit of surprise for me, to be honest,” Lobov said. “I thought Mayweather would try to push the weight as low as possible. This suits us perfectly. Conor will be a lot bigger than Mayweather now. He’ll be a lot stronger than him. This all plays into our hands.”

When you consider that McGregor is big for lightweight, and that he twice competed at 170 pounds last year, you can understand the reasoning behind these comments. McGregor will be considerably bigger than the undefeated boxing star.

But since “Money” is one of the greatest pugilists of all time, and because McGregor has no pro boxing bouts, chances are Mayweather’s camp didn’t push too hard on the weight issue.

After all, Mayweather took on “Canelo” Alvarez at 154 back in 2013 and won via unanimous decision. That bout may have been pre-prime Alvarez, but “Canelo” could crack then as he can now.

All that aside, Lobov also offered this prediction on the upcoming superfight:

“Conor doesn’t just show up for a payday and take a beating. He is in this fight because he knows he can win it. I know he can win this. Not only do I know he can win this, he will win it. I’m 100 percent certain of that.

“He stops him before Round 6 is over. Mark my words.”

Consider your words marked Mr. Lobov.
