Nate Marquardt Calls Michael Bisping an “Ass”

After Michael Bisping infuriated many throughout the MMA world by gobbing at Jorge Rivera’s corner last month, no one was too terribly surprised when ‘charismatic’ fighters like Chael Sonnen were quick to call out “The Count” (and yes, we realize some of you may have hoped for a ‘typo’ there removing just one little letter….).  Ya, Rivera pissed Bisping off, and perhaps some of his British countrymen with those pre-fight vids, but horking at a dude? That’s low.

At any rate, just when it seemed like things had cooled down a tad, Nate Marquardt has tossed two very large and angry cents into the discussion. Yup, the always nice and polite “Nate the Great” apparently had this to say about Bisping, while participating in the UFC 128 open workout yesterday (Thanks to MMA Junkie for the quotes).

“I would love to fight that guy just to punch him in his mouth and shut him up,” said Marquardt. “That’d be nice. He’s an ass. He’s a total punk (with) no respect. I don’t like those people.”

“The crap talking – guys hyping up fights – that’s one thing,” Marquardt said. “Even guys who are like that naturally, I don’t hold that against them. But the fact that he goes and spits on his opponent’s corner, that’s just so disrespectful. That’s not what a martial artist does and not what a sportsman does.”

So, looks like another of the UFC’s best middleweights is looking to throw down with Mr. Bisping; at least Mike doesn’t have to worry about finding fights. In the meantime, Marquardt will take on the always tough Dan Miller, Saturday night. To bet on the tilt head here.

NEWARK, N.J. — Nate Marquardt has always gone about his mixed martial arts career with a quiet class. He’s never been one to trash-talk his opponent, and admits that about “95 percent of the time,” he’s liked the man standing across the cage from him on fight night. That holds true for his Saturday night opponent Dan Miller, who carries himself with a similar comportment.

Miller stepped up to fight Marquardt on one week’s notice after Yoshihiro Akiyama withdrew from UFC 128 following the devastating natural disasters that struck Japan. And while Marquardt has his focus only on the task in front of him, he didn’t hold back when he was asked if he was one of the many middleweights who hoped to get a crack at British contender Michael Bisping.

“I would love to fight that guy just to punch him in his mouth and shut him up,” Marquardt said following a short workout. “That’d be nice. He’s an ass, he’s a total punk, just no respect. I don’t like Bisping.”

UFC 128 Jones vs Rua

Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Maurício Rua (c) vs Jon Jones I’ve got Jon Jones winning this one. Rua might be the more powerful fighter here, but Jones is more dangerous in more places. Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Maurício Rua (c) vs Jon Jones

I’ve got Jon Jones winning this one. Rua might be the more powerful fighter here, but Jones is more dangerous in more places.

Bantamweight bout: Urijah Faber vs Eddie Wineland

Faber.

Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs Kamal Shalorus

Miller should be able to keep this on the feet and out box Shalorus. This fight should be awesome as Shalorus is world class wrestler which will completely nullify Miller’s takedowns. Miller those is far superior in the boxing department where Shalorus wings bombs over and over. You know what I’m changing my pick. Shalorus via decision.

Middleweight bout: Nate Marquardt vs Dan Miller

Nate Marquardt. Better everywhere.

Heavyweight bout: Mirko Filipovic vs Brendan Schaub

Brendan Schaub. Younger fighters seem to be giving Mirko problems.

Preliminary card (Spike TV Card)

Light Heavyweight bout: Luiz Cane vs Eliot Marshall

Luiz Cane easily. Well he won’t necessarily win easily, but I think its a easy pick.

Lightweight bout: Edson Barboza vs Anthony Njokuani

No pick, but like seeing Njokuani fight.

Preliminary card (Facebook)

Welterweight bout: Ricardo Almeida vs Mike Pyle

Ricardo Almeida doesn’t want to get choked out again. I don’t think Pyle is going to get that shot. I like Almeida here.

Lightweight bout: Kurt Pellegrino vs Gleison Tibau

If Gleison fights at his best he will be too strong and big for Pellegrino who has had problems against bigger fighters.

Preliminary card

Bantamweight bout: Joseph Benavidez vs Ian Loveland

Benavidez

Featherweight bout: Erik Koch vs Raphael Assunção

Assunção

Catchweight (195 lb) bout: Nick Catone vs Costantinos Phillipou

No pick

You would assume that in the year 2011, with all of the slip-related injuries that have occured over the years that were attributed to the silk screened graphics on the mat, that athletic commissions would address the issue and come up with alternative means of printing ads on the canvas.

If you don’t think that the issue needs to be discussed, ask Nate Marquardt and Shane Carwin‘s training partner Justin Salas (10-3), who fought UFC veteran Rob Emerson for the lightweight title at Full Force Fight’s event in Colorado Saturday night if it’s a problem.
