The long-awaited heavyweight championship fight between incumbent WBC champion, Tyson Fury, and current WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk appears closer to fruition as it has been, with multiple reports confirming both men have signed on the dotted line ahead of a planned December 23. championship fight in Saudi Arabia.

Fury, the current undisputed WBC heavyweight champion, most recently headlined a December card in London last year against three-time foe, Derek Chisora, defending his championship in a tenth round TKO win over the championship challenger.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have put pen to papers on contracts for a fight

And just next month, the Morecambe striker is set to fight former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou in a 10-round professional boxing match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. And just 8 weeks later according to multiple reports this evening, Fury will tangle with Ukraine favorite, Usyk in a heavyweight title fight.

“Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have signed contracts for an undisputed heavyweight championship fight in Saudi Arabia, multiple sources told ESPN,” Mike Coppinger posted on his official X account. “Fight could take palce Dec. 23 or sometime in January, sources said. Fury first meets Francis Ngannou on Oct. 28 in Saudi Arabia.”

Himself featuring just recently atop a card in Poland, Ukrainian striker, Usyk managed to successfully retain his above-mentioned championship straps with a stunning ninth round KO win over British championship challenger, Daniel Dubios.

The victory came off the back of a notable doubleheader against former two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua – whom he managed to turn in consecutive decision victories over in 2021 and 2022.

Winning world heavyweight titles against the legendary, Wladimir Klitschko back in 2015, Fury would score two back-to-back knockout wins over former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder in 2020, and 2021, before defeating fellow British heavyweight, Dillian Whyte in April of last year with a thunderous sixth round TKO stoppage at Wembley Stadium.

Conor McGregor

Undefeated WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk wants to throw hands with UFC megastar Conor McGregor at London’s world-famous Wembley Stadium.

Usyk is currently scheduled to defend his titles against England’s Daniel Dubois in August after months of negotiations for a winner-take-all scrap with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury fell by the wayside. Earlier this week, it was announced that Fury would instead face former UFC heavyweight king Francis Ngannou on October 28 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Looking to get in on the act, Usky called for a UK-based bout with former two-division UFC titleholder Conon McGregor.

“I saw that Conor McGregor put some significant weight on his body,” Usyk said through his interpreter via Seconds Out. “Hey Conor, why don’t we make a fight at Wembley?”

Conor McGregor En Route to Making The Ultimate Fighter History

Of course, we wouldn’t encourage anyone to get too excited about the possibility of Conor McGregor once again strapping on the 10-ounce gloves for a fight with Usky. McGregor has undoubtedly bulked up over his last two years away from the Octagon, but he is by no means at the level of a heavyweight prizefighter when it comes to the scale, or skill for that matter.

McGregor was last seen inside the Octagon in July 2021 where he suffered a nasty leg break in the opening round of his trilogy bout with lightweight rival Dustin Poirier. Since then, McGregor has stayed in the headlines, for better or for worse. Currently, the Irishman can be seen coaching a team of aspiring mixed martial artists on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. Coaching opposite former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler, McGregor has had a rough go of it, losing seven-straight fights.

Conor McGregor is one fight away from becoming the first coach in TUF history to suffer a clean sweep.

Anthony Joshua

Former boxing world champion Anthony Joshua had a full-on temper tantrum following his split decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on Saturday.

Usyk successfully defended his WBA, WBO, and IBF titles earning two of the three judges’ scorecards. One judge saw it in favor of Joshua 115-113, but was overruled by the tallies of 115-113 and 116-112 in favor of the defending champion. Fuming from the loss, Joshua grabbed two of Usyk’s titles while in the ring and threw them to the outside before exiting towards the backstage area.

Anthony Joshua then returned to the ring, grabbed a microphone, and proceeded to steal what was supposed to be a celebratory moment for the Ukrainian world champion.

“If you knew my story you would understand the passion,” Joshua said. I ain’t no amateur boxer from five years old that was an elite prospect from youth.

“I was going to jail, I got bail, and I started training my arse off, I wanted to be able to fight.”

After hijacking the microphone, Anthony Joshua gave Usyk a moment, recognizing him as the heavyweight champion of the world and leading the crowd in a cheer for the man that beat him not once, but twice.

“I’m stealing this Usyk I’m sorry, but it’s because of the passion we put into this. This guy to beat me tonight, maybe I could have done better, but it shows the level of hard work I put in so please give him a round of applause as our heavyweight champion of the world.

“And as I said, I was studying Ukraine and all the champions that come from your amazing country, but I have never been there. But at the same time, what’s happening there is, I don’t know what’s happening, but it’s not nice.”

Anthony Joshua’s Drama Continued Backstage

Finally making his way to the back of the arena, an unidentified individual told him to “keep it professional.” The former world champion aggressively responded saying, “What?! Who you talking to?! Who you talking to?!”

Anthony Joshua was then promptly escorted away from the situation before the UK native could further embarrass himself. Following his antics inside of the ring, fans took to Twitter and immediately started comparing the incident to the infamous Kanye West and Taylor Swift moment at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
