There appears to be no love lost between Patricio “Pitbull” Freire and Michael Chandler.

Chandler recently made headlines in the mixed martial arts world after signing with the UFC following a 10-year stint with Bellator MMA. Chandler will notably be the backup for the UFC 254 lightweight title unification fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje on October 24.

That was something Freire took pride in given that he won the Bellator lightweight title after knocking Chandler out last year. However, things certainly remain heated between the pair.

After Chandler posted a recent video which showcased his knockout win over Patricky Freire — the brother of “Pitbull” — Freire decided to hit back at him by posting a video of his own knockout over Chandler.

He would also use Chandler’s caption and modify it a bit towards the end.

“You’ll always be my b*tch,” Freire wrote.

“You can keep posting that video on your Instagram all you want, you’ll always be my bitch @MikeChandlerMMA and it hurts way more on you. ?”

Dual-weight Bellator champion Patricio Freire has got into an online spat with UFC featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski as the pair hype up a possible cross-promotion fight.

The beef began with Freire responding to UFC president Dana White’s disregard for the talent possessed by Bellator. ‘Pitbull’ took to social media to bet White he would be able to take out his current 145lb and 155lb champions, he wrote.

“Hi @danawhite I’m the one who destroyed steroids machine @MikeChandlerMMA, whom you said deserves a talk, in 61 seconds. If you send some of your top fighters to @BellatorMMA I can do the same to them too. Let’s bet like you did with PRIDE.”

Volkanovski saw the proposal from ‘Pitbull’ and advised his boss to accept the bet and allow him to make some easy money.

Easiest money you will ever make @danawhite, let’s make it happen,” Volkanovski wrote.

Freire took aim at Volkanovski in a couple of tweet. ‘Pitbull’ threatened to knock out and hospitalize ‘The Great’ while also insinuating his rival should have lost the featherweight title to Max Holloway at UFC 251, he wrote.

“I’ll remember those words after I knock you out. Put your money where your mouth is @danawhite @ufc. Let’s go @ScottCoker @BellatorMMA” @alexvolkanovski

“just so u know U are fighting Pitbull the fighter not the rapper. I’m glad u recovered from ur cauliflower pussy. @danawhite it wud be my pleasure 2take ur $, I’ll even pay 4 Alex The Average’s hospital bills. It wud B an Honor to wear Max Holloway’s Belt. #LFG”

It wasn’t long before Patricky Freire jumped in and offered to fight Dan Hooker on the same card his brother fights Volkanovski.

I’ll put @ufc@danthehangmanin the hospital bed right beside @alexvolkanovski. Anyway Dan, it’s nice to see the pride of Australia…Crocodile Duck-me, Freire wrote.

Hooker seemed uninterested in fighting Patricky and joked about his would-be opponents height in his reply, he wrote.

“What are the rules for our fight? Are you going to stand on a chair or do I fight from my knees?”

Bellator’s Patricio Freire Calls For Fight With Alexander Volkanovski

Bellator featherweight and lightweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire wants to test his abilities against Alexander Volkanovski.

Volkanovski defended his featherweight title against Max Holloway at UFC 251 this past weekend after earning a controversial split decision verdict.

Despite many observers thinking Holloway had done enough, two of the three judges saw it different as Volkanovski now holds two wins over the Hawaiian. The question now turns to who he should face next.

There are a number of contenders waiting in line all looking to get the next shot. Former bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo has also spoken of coming out of retirement to face him next.

There’s even a non-UFC fighter looking to fight Volkanovski in Freire, who proposed the matchup on Sunday to Dana White as well as Bellator president Scott Coker.

“Let’s make MMA better. @BellatorMMA vs @ufc. Me vs @alexvolkanovski. I heard you’re a betting man @danawhite, let’s bet. Let’s go @ScottCoker”

Freire Wants To Prove He’s The Best

It’s not the first time Freire has challenged a UFC champion.

He did the same when Holloway was champion as he believed last year he had what it took to defeat him. He will likely fancy his chances even more against a more similar-sized Volkanovski.

That said, the chances of any cross promotional fight taking place is highly unlikely for the considerable future. So all we can do is speculate for now.

Josh Thomson believes if anyone has a chance of stopping Khabib Nurmagomedov in the lightweight division, it’s Bellator’s Patricio “Pitbull” Freire.

Nurmagomedov is the current undefeated UFC lightweight champion who is yet to meet his match so far. Many believe Tony Ferguson is the man to inflict defeat on “The Eagle” but we are yet to see that fight come to fruition after five attempts.

Even if it does happen later this year, Nurmagomedov’s former teammate Thomson doesn’t see Ferguson or anybody else defeating him.

He does, however, believe Bellator two-weight champion Freire has a chance.

“I really don’t see anyone in the 155lb division,” Thomson told Metro.co.uk. “The only one I’d bring up is Patricio Pitbull and that’s only because he’s so small. He’s short. Patricio has got the power and speed to get in. Khabib has a hard time with guys who are fast and we saw that with Michael Johnson.

“Johnson is also longer. Patricio is not a big guy and he is physically strong. Khabib had a hard time getting shots on Al Iaquinta because he sat with a very low stance. ‘He has good wrestling and take down defence, Khabib had a hard time getting in at him because he was so short. Patricio is shorter than him, he’s physically strong. He’s got speed and power. When [Patricio] fought Benson Henderson and Michael Chandler, [we saw] he knows how to fight bigger guys. Speed will always play a factor. I would still lean towards Khabib a lot.”

Although Freire did win the Bellator lightweight title by knocking out the bigger Chandler, it remains to be seen if he would be able to do the same to Nurmagomedov.

It should also be noted that Thomson is contracted to Bellator so there is definitely some bias here.
