Daley did it again on Saturday in Manchester, England, knocking out Yuya Shirai with a powerful left uppercut followed by a quick hook and a couple hammer fists on the ground, winning by first round knockout without breaking a sweat on a British Association of Mixed Martial Arts card.

Daley, who improved his record to 27-9-2, is now likely to take on Nick Diaz for the Strikeforce welterweight title on April 9. Although Daley didn’t say for sure that he’ll fight Diaz, he did say after the fight, “There’s more to come for me.”

Paul Daley missed weight on Friday for his welterweight fight on Saturday. And this is not a rerun.

Daley, the former UFC fighter who’s expected to contend for the Strikeforce welterweight title this spring, has a bout scheduled on Saturday against DEEP welterweight champion Yuya Shirai in Manchester, England, with the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts welterweight title on the line. But Daley came in at 172 pounds, two pounds over the 170-pound welterweight limit, at Friday’s weigh-in.

Given another chance, Daley came in at a final weight of 170.4, which is still over the limit for a welterweight title fight. As a result, the bout is now a non-title affair.

Daley’s history of missing weight includes coming in at 171.75 at Shark Fights 14 in September of 2010, coming in at 172 for UFC 108 in January of 2010, coming in at 171.5 for MFC 20 in February of 2009 and coming in at 174 for MFC 19 in December of 2008. So this marks the fifth time Daley has missed weight in his last 11 fights.

Paul Daley has other business on his fighting agenda before he can lock up a Strikeforce welterweight title shot against current champion Nick Diaz, but that doesn’t mean the hard-hitting Brit isn’t already looking forward to the possibility of facing Diaz.

Daley needs to win a Feb. 26 match in the UK with Yuya Shirai, and if he does, a date with Diaz awaits him.

While Diaz recently said he’s “not impressed with Paul Daley as a mixed martial artist” aside from his standup, Daley indicated on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour that he’d have more than enough firepower to wrest the belt from him.

“I hit unlike any other welterweight in MMA,” he said. “I will knock Diaz out. I will knock him out.”

Here’s what we know is true about Tyron Woodley: he’s 28 years old; he made his MMA debut two years ago; he’s 8-0; and he just signed a new four-fight deal with Strikeforce.

Here’s what Woodley would like you to know: he should be fighting for the Strikeforce welterweight title as soon as possible.

“I think I’m the No. 1 contender at this point,” the American Top Team member said on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour. “I think, realistically, from the communication I got from Strikeforce, me and Tarec [Saffiedine] wasn’t just an irrelevant fight. It meant something. It meant that we were fighting for either the No. 1 contendership spot or to bang heads with [Paul] Daley, and I’m more than willing to go against Daley to solidify that I’m the No. 1 contender and I deserve a title shot.

“But quite frankly, I believe he don’t want to fight a wrestler. He wants to fight KJ Noons. He wants somebody to stand in front of him and bang with him. He don’t want somebody that can strike, somebody that can put him on his back, somebody that can dominate him.”
