Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson is currently in a fight, but it’s not inside the mixed martial arts (MMA) cage.
‘Rampage’ currently finds himself fighting a strange battle to keep his home. Jackson purchased the property on July 25th of 2010 for $1,150,000 in cash, but recently filed a lawsuit with the Orange County Superior Court last month (December 30, 2016) after complications with the home’s title.
Jackson did not put the title to the home under his own name or an entity he has control over, but instead under the business ‘Jazella’ per advice of his manager, Howard Denis Joseph Gwynn. Interestingly enough, however, Jazella is owned by none other than Gwynn himself.
Below is Jackson’s official legal complaint (courtesy of Bloody Elbow):
“Due to [Jackson’s] celebrity as a mixed martial-arts fighter, instead of taking title to the Subject Property in his name as an individual, with the advice and guidance of his business partner and manager, non-party Howard Denis Joseph Gwynn (director of Jazella), [Jackson] decided to purchase the Subject Property in such a way that Jazella would be known as the record titleholder.”
Jackson’s relationship with Gwynn began to take a turn south, prompting the Bellator heavyweight to make efforts to change the title under his name instead. His efforts may have been too late, however, as ‘Rampage’ says Gwynn “purported to sell the Subject Property to defendants Breckenridge and Wedgewood.”
Rampage believes Breckenridge and Wedgewood “…intend to unlawfully dispossess [Jackson] and his family and children from the Subject Property…”
‘Rampage’ is officially suing Jazella, Breckenridge, and Wedgewood for quiet title, unjust enrichment, and declaratory relief.
The end of Quinton Jackson’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career may be near. “Rampage” is a 48-fight veteran who is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title holder. Jackson is scheduled to meet Muhammed Lawal in a rematch at Bellator 175. The first time they met was back in May 2014. “Rampage” won […]

There were many promises of a big-fight announcement during Saturday night’s Bellator 170 broadcast, and the promotion didn’t disappoint. Ahead of the co-main event between Paul Daley and Derek Anderson, the headline to Bellator 175 was announced.
On March 31, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “King” Mo Lawal will face off in a rematch of their controversial 2014 scrap:
The bout is a solid rerun of one of the promotion’s biggest rivalries to date. The two faced off at Bellator 120, the promotion’s ill-fated pay-per-view debut, in a fight that was widely panned for lacking action and the questionable outcome—a unanimous 29-28 decision for Jackson—but received praise for the out-of-the-cage action that included a contentious build-up and a hilarious, NSFW aftermath.
While 2017’s Bellator is very different than the tournament-driven, Bjorn Rebney-led promotion of 2014, Lawal and Jackson remain two of its biggest stars, and best fighters. Because of that, this fight is an interesting blend of actual high-level MMA action and old-fashioned “bad-blood” appeal.
It’s worth noting that Jackson vs. Lawal 2 is labeled as a heavyweight fight in promotional material, despite both men spending most of their careers in the light heavyweight division.
Lawal freely bounces back and forth between the two divisions in order to take the biggest fights available, most recently competing in an openweight tournament in Rizin FF. Jackson, meanwhile, has been steadily moving further and further away from 205 pounds—debuting in Bellator at 210 pounds, facing Fabio Maldonado at 215 pounds, and fighting SatoshiIshii in a heavyweight bout.
While Lawal will likely continue to move between the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions, this likely marks the official move to heavyweight for Rampage.
No other bouts have been announced for the card but expect more to surface over the coming weeks.

The rematch between Quinton Jackson and Muhammed Lawal has been made official.
During tonight’s (Jan. 21) Bellator 170 broadcast, “Rampage” and “King Mo” were brought out for the big reveal. The bout will take place on March 31. The two first competed against each other at Bellator 120 back in May 2014. Jackson took the fight by unanimous decision.
Lawal believes he won the fight and said so during the broadcast. Jackson responded by questioning how “King Mo” thinks he won a fight by holding the entire time.
“Rampage” is riding a five-fight winning streak. He’s gone 4-0 since entering the Bellator cage. A contract dispute saw him briefly come back to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at UFC 186. He defeated Fabio Maldonado by unanimous decision.
Jackson was able to sort out his differences with Bellator once Scott Coker took over as President of the promotion. His first fight back was against Satoshi Ishii back in June 2016. He won the fight by split decision.
Lawal is coming off a TKO loss at the hands of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at Rizin 3 World Grand-Prix 2016. “King Mo” had been riding a seven-fight winning streak before running into current Bellator light heavyweight champion Phil Davis. “Mr. Wonderful won that fight by unanimous decision.
