The Gracie name is perhaps the most important in the history of mixed martial arts. With one word, an entire fighting style gained notoriety and has become a staple of some of the greatest fighters in the world, even as we inch closer to 20 years from the first UFC event won by Royce Gracie.

Today, a new Gracie is carrying on the family name. His name is Roger Gracie, and he brings his unbelievable 65-7 jiu-jitsu and grappling tournament record into MMA.

He currently sits as one of the top up-and-comers in the light heavyweight division within Strikeforce, but with all of the top talent headed from Strikeforce to the UFC, one has to wonder how long it will be before he shows up in the Octagon.

And if he did, where exactly, would the undefeated up-and-comer fit in within the current UFC 205-pound division?

This is what the UFC light heavyweight division rankings might look like if Roger Gracie were to sign with the company.

Nick Diaz, Alistair Overeem and 25 Top Fighters Who Will Never Wear UFC Gold

Some guys have all the luck. Some guys have all the pain. Then there are some guys who get all the breaks. And some guys get left out in the rain.

More poignant lyrics were never written. At least not as they relate to this slideshow, which looks at 25 top fighters who, for one reason or another, will never wear the UFC championship belt around their collective waist.

It could be a skill set issue. It could be that they are embedded in another promotion. It could be a string of misfortunes. It could be that they were too far past their primes by the time they landed in the Octagon.

Or, it could be that they’re just plain ol’ crazy, not that I have anyone very specific in mind for that.

I could have taken the easy route and just picked a bunch of over-the-hill guys or obvious also-rans. And hey, I included some of those types. I like easy routes. But too much of that and things get a little bland, so I went out on a couple of limbs along the way. I wonder if anyone will notice those.

In any event, here’s hoping this provides food for thought and debate. Thanks for reading.

Nick Diaz showed the world his true colors once again when he failed to show for his UFC 137 press conference in Las Vegas.

It wasn’t the first time Diaz blew off a promotion for his up and coming fight against Georges St-Pierre. He also didn’t bother to show up at an event in Toronto, Canada earlier this week.

This shouldn’t surprise anyone and it also shouldn’t come as a surprise if Diaz is soon jobless.

UFC fans know better than anyone you don’t pull this type of act, especially not on Dana White.

While Diaz will come up with some type of “valid” excuse to cover for his actions, it won’t help his case and it won’t prevent him from losing his career in the UFC.

The following slides are 10 potential jobs that would be a perfect fit for Nick Diaz.

Let’s take a look…
