After battling injuries for more than one year, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira returned to the Octagon for UFC 134 in his home country of Brazil. Despite his decorated past, Nogueira was considered an underdog against the fast-rising Brendan Schaub.

After taking some big shots from Schaub, Nogueira fired right back and rocked Schaub with a straight right hand. A few more punches sealed the deal for Nogueira and sent the Brazilian crowd into a frenzy.

After seeing his four-fight winning streak come to an end, Schaub will have to rebuild his momentum in order to make another run at the title. That being said, Schaub remains one of the brightest young fighters in the UFC’s heavyweight division.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva added on to one of the greatest legacies in professional sports with a TKO victory over Yushin Okami at UFC 134 on Saturday night.

The champion used his deadly boxing and Matrix-like head movement to pick the contender apart in the standup exchanges and earn the stoppage at 2:04 of the second round.

There is no denying Silva’s brilliance in the bout, but it’s hard to look past Okami’s poor game plan. If there is one weakness in Silva’s game, it has to be his wrestling, which happens to be Okami’s strongest skill set. Instead of sticking to his strengths, the Japanese grappler curiously decided to stand and exchange with the greatest striker in MMA history.

Silva has virtually stomped out the entire middleweight division, and the only bouts left for the future Hall of Famer are rematches and superfights at light heavyweight.

There is always the slim possibility of a blockbuster superfight with welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. The bout could finally answer the most debated question in all of MMA. Who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world––Silva or GSP?

Undefeated light-heavyweight Stanislav “Staki” Nedkov (11-0), of the Scorpion Bulgarian Bushido Federation, signed a contract with the UFC last year in June, but something always happened that kept him out of the Octagon until now.

He was due to make his UFC debut against Rodney Wallace on August 7 2010, at UFC 117, but he was injured during training and was replaced by Phil Davis.

Next, Nedkov signed up to fight Steve Cantwell on October 16 2010, at UFC 120. However, less than two days before the event, Cantwell sustained a knee injury during a pre-fight training session. Short of time to find a replacement opponent for Nedkov, the bout was called off.

Now, cross your fingers and hope that the jinx is broken, tomorrow Nedkov finally makes his UFC debut versus Brazilian Luiz Cane (11-3) in UFC 134, right in his opponent’s home country.

What are the implications of tomorrow’s fight for Nedkov and all of us MMA fans?
