Raul Rosas Jr. submits Ricky Turcios with rear-naked choke at UFC Louisville highlights

Bantamweight division upstart, Raul Rosas Jr. is now riding a two-fight winning run for the first time in his Octagon tenure off the back of tonight’s submission win — laying waste to Ricky Turcios with a second round rear-naked choke at UFC Louisville in the pair’s main card clash.

Rosas Jr. — a product of Dana White’s Contender Series, initially made good on his landing in the organization, turning in a dominant submission win over Jay Perrin — before dropping an upset loss to Christian Rodriguez over the course of three rounds in a decision blemish.

Rebounding to winning ways back in August of last year, Raul Rosas Jr. matched up with Terence Mitchell, needing less than a minute to score a TKO win from ground strikes.

And re-matched with Turcios tonight in Kentucky, Rosas Jr. — who has been touted as a significant future talent, was forced to defend a taut rear-naked choke in the first round, before almost locking up his own win in the same frame.

However, afforded the opportunity to take Turcios’ back for a second time in the second round, Rosas Jr. locked on a body triangle and eventually forced a tap — turning in yet another rear-naked choke submission triumph.

One of the youngest fighters on the UFC roster, Brady ‘Bam-Bam’ Hiestand (6-2) is set to take on Batgerel Danaa at UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Allen on April 15th.

In anticipation of his first bout since November of 2022, Hiestand took the time to speak with Alex Lerman of LowKick MMA. During the interview, Brady analyzed his upcoming opponent and proposed the idea of a long-awaited rematch with TUF Season 29 Bantamweight winner Ricky Turcios.

Brady Hiestand’s Analysis of Opponent Bategrel Danaa

Following a Unanimous Decision win over Fernie Garcia in November, Brady Hiestand has been given a step up in competition within the stacked UFC Bantamweight division. Hiestand vs. Danaa is less than two months away, and Brady has certainly done his homework on his opponent:

“I think he’s a great fighter and he has really good standup… This is an important fight for him because he’s coming off a two-fight losing streak, but I don’t take anything away from him because he’s fought tough guys… I’m expecting him to come out hot, and [I’ll] be ready for some big overhand rights and some big left hooks… I feel like I’m going to stay measured… who knows, maybe I’ll take him down maybe I’ll stay standing, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

Brady Hiestand calls for TUF Finale Rematch with Ricky Turcios

Brady Hiestand burst onto the MMA scene during Season 29 of The Ultimate Fighter. At the young age of 21, Hiestand fought his way to the Bantamweight finale, where he took a questionable split decision loss to Ricky Turcios.

At such a young age, it’s hard not to plan for future opponents that will get him closer and closer to the top 15 rankings. When asked about desired opponents in the future, Hiestand responded:

“I’m always down to fight a lot of people, but I’m always down to rematch Ricky [Turcios]. I think that was a banger fight in The Ultimate Fighter finale, I was a little bit injured. I don’t like taking a loss you know; I’d love to get that one back.”

UFC fans can see Brady ‘Bam-Bam’ Hisetand back in action on April 15th vs. Batgerel Danaa at UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Allen. Brady looks to get closer to that top 15 in one of the most competitive divisions across MMA.

The Ultimate Fighter: Season 29 bantamweight winner Ricky Turcios will make his first official walk to the Octagon against Aiemann Zahabi.

The promotion announced that Turcios will fight Zahabi at an upcoming UFC Fight Night event on July 9 at the UFC Apex.

Turcios is coming off of his TUF Finale win over Brady Hiestand last August. After three rounds of action, Turcios earned a split decision win and a UFC contract.

During his two fights on TUF 29, Turcios earned wins over current LFA bantamweight champion Dan Argueta and Liudvik Sholinian.

Before getting his shot on TUF, Turcios made a name for himself during stints in Fury FC and KOTC. He fell short of a UFC contract back in 2017, losing to Boston Salmon via a unanimous decision on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Turcios will face a tough test in the form of Zahabi, who has accumulated an 8-2 record and most recently defeated Drako Rodriguez in Feb. 2021. He won his UFC debut back in 2017 against Reginaldo Vieira via unanimous decision before suffering back-to-back losses.

The July 9 UFC event is set to be headlined by a lightweight matchup between former champion Rafael dos Anjos and rising contender Rafael Fiziev.
